NYC Mayor Attempts To Revise Term Limits For A Third Term!

third-time.jpg

This financial crisis is making politicians crazier than Michael Lohan in front of a reporter's microphone!

After voicing strong support for office limits and labeling attempts to alter limits "disgusting," New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg plans on doing just those things, The New York Times is reporting.

Former Wall Street Trader and independent party-aligned Bloomberg plans to announce on Thursday his intentions to revise New York City's office term limits and run for a third term in office. He would be only the fourth ever mayor to do so.

And the reason for this about-face?

You guessed it!

MONEY!

Or the lack thereof.

Bloomberg, who at one point was a rumored Republican presidential candidate nom, has been encouraged by big-time business executives such as Rupert Murdoch to stay in office, as his pragmatic business sensibilities have proved him popular in that community. A recent survey of New York council members - two-thirds of whom will have to leave office with Bloomberg if he fails - found that the Mayor's intentions to amend the term limit law are largely supported.

Inneresting.

What do U think of this new development????

  11. 11

OK if limited to one more term only.

  12. 12

no thank you, as a new yorker that business man has no business in politics. WHAT A GREEDY FUCK. US NEW YORKERS AREN'T THAT STUPID TO RE-ELECT THAT ASSHOLE AGAIN! LIKE HARRY'S DIRTY BALLS SAYS AND IT MAKES ME CRINGE TO HAVE TO AGREE-HE IS A JEW(NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT) AND THERE ARE LOT OF JEWS IN NY WHO TEND TO LOOK AFTER THEIR OWN MONEY AND THEMSELVES AND NOT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT ANYONE ELSE. NO PLACE FOR JEWISH BUSINESS MEN IN POLITICS. THERE I DID IT. I AGREED WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS DIFFERENT OPINIONS.

Re: amylala – I coming but chimp has a fund raiser w/ Bruce & Billy Joel or some shit like that, I smacked upside his fuckin' coconut head!

  14. 14

    Coconut heah…hehe….

  15. 15

he's the only Republican I've ever found worthy of my vote.. and I would do it again. Thanks, Mike B. for *finally* making NYC's restuarants, venues, subways (even all outdoor ones), etc. SMOKE FREE!! Now if we could just finally make it illegal to smoke around children — and anywhere outdoors… :-D

  16. 16

    tap, tap. waiting.

  17. 17

    Re: squid12
yea…but lets the subways go to shit….times square to shit……
fuck….let's just go back to 1979
but as long as people can't smoke…..
in the grand scheme…pick a worthy battle…….and in the city, that's the least of the worries we should have

  18. 18

    "only the fourth ever mayor"
do i smell misleading quoting here??

  19. 19

What does he want a friggin dictatorship! No way. He did his two terms time to blow!! Can you imagine of Bush did a third term!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: amylala
giuliani? giuliani was a bitch of mayor… he did nothing for the city

now bloomberg is a great mayor

Every time I see him on the news, I HAVE to imitate his accent. It's just a dirty little habit I have.

  22. 22

this recent bank/mortgage failures have nothing to do with this. Bloomberg is an egomaniac that has been thinking of this for what I know is at least a year, so he has probably thought of this, ummm, the day he stepped into office. Guiliani-the voters have forgotten about him-he cleaned up crime, the subways and timesquare. Mikey there just takes credit for it

  23. 23

I actually see the benefit of third terms…goverment is akin to a bolder being rolled uphill…at least on third term they know the ins and outs!

    THANK YOU
    THANK YOU

  27. 27

it is how it always was & should be 2 term limits & that's it!!! if it needs 2 change then it should start with the presidency not with the fuckin mayor of new york!!!!!! who the fuck does he think he is!!!!!!!!!!!!! handle!!

  28. 28

as a long time NYC resident. let me just say….Bloomberg BLOWS!!!!
Bring back Rudy!!! Rudy actually cleaned this place up and didn't take any crap! Bring back RUDY!!!!!

  29. 29

NYC was BILLIONS of dollars in debt when Bloomberg took office now there is a MULTIBILLION dollar surplus. Money talks and he would totally get my vote. Esp with all the jokers out there currently running for office that have no economic experience…

  30. 30

I think America is full of "pussies" for allowing this con shit to go on. It is never acceptable for a sitting politician to make "changes" that will facilitate their personal careers.
    ——————————————-
While millions of Americans are bitching about the state of affairs in their country, maybe they you should be putting those efforts towards enforcing accountabilities and preventing corruption at the source. There is no reason to give all the power away to self-serving politicians. There are other ways to conduct government business.
    ——————————————-
If you can elect politicians; you can also elect watchdogs. Then you wouldn't have to get your information from media sources that have their own agendas.

I like Mayor Bloomberg but I believe in the 2 term limit. I think changing it is a slippery slope.

Anything the rich white boy wants, right?

  33. 33

I really don't care but he did a better job than Giuliani. Although my mom doesn't like him(She's a Teacher).

  34. 34

    Re: Tanpopo
    ok and you are 6?
    get the fuck offa here

  35. 35

He's done well for our city.I say he should have a third term, or at least a 1/2, until the market is slightly more stable.

  36. 36

As a NYC resident, I LOVE BLOOMBERG. Will definitely want him to stick around. He doesn't favor the cops like Giuliani did, he doesn't play favorites and he's a businessman. NYC is a business town.

  37. 37

Im a New Yorker and I like Bloomberg!! Go for it!

  38. 38

    Impeach Billy Joel.

  39. 39

Perez you sure do have that great MIami Education(recently off the raft cubans). Try doing spell check before you post things, moron. :)

  40. 40

So typical! A Republican who wants to change the law so that he can get more power. How arrogant, and how wrong. Give someone else a chance.

  41. 41

I used to live in NYC, but had to move out because I coudn't afford to live there. Now I survive by picking up cans and giving hand jobs. This economy sucks!

  42. 42

WHAT A HYPOCRITE! I hope they haul his ass to the cleaners while putting bush and cheney in JAIL! This pompus, hyprocritical, lying bastards need to be evicted from office. the world is falling apart…see why at signsinthesun d.o.t. c.o.m.

  43. 43

    Fuck greedy rich white men!

  44. 44

Considering how he railed against Guiliani for wanting to stay, he should follow his own advice-and GET OUT.

  45. 45

He's done wonders for NYC. LA should look to us how a city should run, both economically and crime-wise (lack there of).

  46. 46

Re: jackers – It wasnt always 2 term limits for Mayor - Laguardia had 3 terms as did Koch. it only RECENTLY changed you idiot.

And just an FYI, governor of NY has 3 terms as the limit. Pataki was governor for 12 years.

And no it should be with the president, this is STATE politics not national politics.

PEOPLE NEED TO GET A CLUE

  47. 47

    fuck that guy.
