Walt, the Opera
Filed under: Music Minute > Disney
This could be quite amazing - or an epic fail!
The New York City Opera has commissioned an opera based on Walt Disney .
The work will imagine what the last few moths of the genius' life was like.
Famed composer Philip Glass will score the opera which is set to open the company's 2012-2013 season.
Would you see the Disney opera?

Let me think ,FUCK NO!
I'd rather receive paper cuts to my eyeballs.
Re: amylala – Miley & Barrack the masturbating monkey, now we're onto somethin'!
This is ridiculous. Can't they come up with original material?
fail
Re: harrybalsac – OK OK, Miley ,hmomma and the monkey?
No
I'm out , nite ladies!
I will without a doubt be there to see it. I'm an avid fan of Walt's work. This is amazing. Quite an honor.
Wouldn't Disney have been lying in bed from his cancer treament for
the last few months of his life?
How can you sing opera while you have to act like you have lung cancer?
Sounds like a really boring show.
HECK YES!
I LOVE everything Disney!! Hells to the yes!!!!
OK, Walt Disney story for you. My mom takes all 8 kids to Disneyland, that's right 8 kids, while my Dad is at sea. I was about 2 or 3 years old - I am 43 now. Old white hairded gentleman approaches my mom and offers to give her a tour of the park. My mom has been to Disneyland multiple times and declines. Walt dies 2 weeks later and my mom sees the obituary picture - yep, it was Walt that offered the tour! To my mom's defense she was not expecting the old looking Walt, but the dashing dark-haired walt like we saw on the world of Disney on black and white TV.
Could of had a lifetime membership to Disneyland, but oh well.
i'm out too.
gotta 'refresh' myself for early tomorrow!
not unless it portayed him as the rascist man he was….and how he stole the prototype of mickey mouse from his partner
Convenient that they're skipping over the period of Disney's life when he was a supporter of the Nazis, prior to America's involvement in WWII, and anti-semite.
Ever notice that no other studio or production company has dared to produce a movie about Walt Disney's life? There's a reason for that.
I would if a real composer was writing it, instead of Philip Glass.
EVERYTHING I LIKE IN DISNEY THEY F*CKEN CANCLE! soo the answer no! >:(
not with philip glass scoring it, wtf?
I'd see it for sure!
I love almost anything by Disney because they always have high standards and brilliant entertainment. I would go see it.
… What? Who's going to play Walt Disney? Zack effron?
I HATE OPERA OF ANY KIND.
Yes I love Disney and Walt ! I have a feeling it would be amazing.
He lived and worked in my home state! Plus, this is where he created Micky Mouse. I may check it out if they stick to the facts.
its gay day(s)

only if I am the star
And to think it all started with Walt's train ride, where he spotted a tiny mouse crawling on the ground…
Only if it is Disney-aproval ….YES YES YES::::I LOVE LOVE LOVE WALT!!!

I wonder if they're going to do a song about his incredible anti-semitism.
I would definitely see it!
Perhaps..because Phillip Glass is an amazing composer
Yes. Philip Glass is a musical genius. Should be fascinating.
Perenciss..please start proof reading your work before you post…I'm sure you know how to spell…
Re: The Dark Knight –
i'm the author of the novel 'the perfect american' so i can assure you: none of wd's dark sides are left out in my book and i hope they will appear in the opera. but i depict him as a multilayered character, nonetheless…he's not only evil or negative…he had some pretty amazing qualities too…
