70% of the Queen's salary is spent on paying the staff. The rest is spent on entertaining.
Palace People deny that the Queenie is suffering any sort of financial woes, but does admit that - like for everyone else - things have been a little tight these days.
After all, the Queen hasn't received a raise in 20 years.
But she may have to wait another 20 - two senior MPs who sit on the Public Accounts Committee are saying that the Queen can tough it out, and are calling for a public audit of the Royal Checkbook.

PEREZ—–the taxpayers are NOT paying the Queen. Get your facts straight and stop perpetuating untruths about the Queen's finances! Back in the 1700's the King signed over the revenue from HIS lands to the government in return for a living income. The government is profitting from HER lands and it is HER money. If she wanted to, she could take back the lands and revenue. That revenue is giving the government BILLIONS of dollars. And let's not forget that the Queen brings billions of dollars of tourism into the UK and also fosters business deals with other countries.

that's not all completely true…the royal family allows the government to use all their property and the amount the family receives from the goverment is substantially less than the revenue the properties bring in to the tax coffers.
£7.9 million = $14 million NOT $17.5….maybe in June that was the exchange rate, but not now.

Well, the problem here is as she is the reigning monarch, she has to live in Buckingham Palace which doesn't personally belong to her, it belongs to the Commonwealth. It is used for state dinners, etc. It's like her "office." She owns personally Sandringham in Norfolk and Balmoral in Scotland.
Ever seen the Crown Jewels in The Tower? It is mind boggling. I'm American and saw them 2 years ago and was blown away by the Star of Africa, the Lesser Star, and the Jubilee Diamond. Enormous diamonds, several hundrends carats a piece, all nearly flawless, if not completely flawless. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. You should see the batshit crazy large rubies, emeralds and saphs there. But that is just the jewels. I can't imagine the priceless works of art and furniture that is inside Buckinham Palace and her other residences.

It's sad to see how many people in Europe still support monarchy. I've seen many people defending the British monarchy on this site, like the time when Perez drew cum on the Queen's face and there were irate demands to take down the pic.
Though admittedly they're not supported by taxes, they still own huge properties which were centuries ago taken from peasants and poor people by force, in the name of the King/Queen.
It's fucking sad and ridiculous that they still believe in an obsolete system of royal parasites.
can i point out that the queen diesnt live off of tax payers money. thats the government, not monarchy.
and this whole discussion was down to the goverment, who she asked for money to decorate buckingham palace (which hasnt been decorated since before she was queen) and they refused. buckingham palace is always open to visitors and the queen treats all of her staff like actual people and not scum like half of the z list celebs treat their 'staff'. yet they use up all tax payers money spending £59,000 on wallpaper and £100,000 on holidays.

Mate. you don't have a clue! Sorry, but the Queen attracts sooo many tourists etc, she is easily worth plenty of millions for the UK economy. Thus spoke an economist. It's a bargain for taxpayers in the UK.

It drives me crazy how many people don't realise that the Queen actually returns all of her income that is derived from her private estates (homes not part of the public trust). The Queen, personally owns the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall (a property company, holding farms, buildings, etc.. ). In 2007 the Duchies had a income of £11.9 million. All of this income is to transferred to her British treasury in return for the Civil List payments (the £7.9 million referenced). She easily pays her own keep, plus put's a little extra in the treasury. This doesn't include what income is made from the British Crown Estate (income made from tourist visiting her homes that are not personally owned by her, but are owned by her in trust for the people, etc… - 100% of this income also goes to the treasury).
You do know there hasn't been a "Queen of England" since 1603! Just ignore the Acts of Union why don't you! And stop using Anglophilia FFS!
Give her the money man. She is after all, the Queen! She's cool. I sometimes think American like her more than her own people. Why give her a hard time? They should see her for the incredible icon she is and be grateful people around the world love the Queen.

Obviously written by an anti-monarchist who fails to say that 100% of the queen's "salary" is spent on GOVERNMENT business that the GOVERNMENT orders the queen to do on behalf of the GOVERNMENT……….and that all that "entertaining" is entertaining other Heads of State which the British GOVERNMENT makes the queen feed on behalf of the GOVERNMENT. They also fail to say that the queen herself receives NO SALARY whatsoever (to the exclusion of the revenues of the Duchy of Lancaster). Poor thing…….has to work 24 hrs a day till the day she DIES….NO retirement for her…….and NO PAYCHEQUE! The least they can do is give her a modest increase to help defray the cost of keeping the lights and the furnace on…..and all that entertaining.
