John McCain said Tuesday that George W. Bush should spend $1 trillion of your tax money to buy up those 'bad' mortgages WITHOUT Congressional permission.
Yes. He's encouraging W. (of all people) to spend $1 trillion without permission folks!
He said it 3 times on Tuesday, apparently.

Bush tried to add stricter oversight and regulations in 03, but DEMs killed it. In 2005 McCain cosponsered legislation to add stricter regulations on companies like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but the DEMs killed it again. You also bring up advisors, one of Obamas was a former CEO of Fannie Mae, a man who's partly responsible for the companies collapse and has been accused of making shady business deals. One of the biggest causes for the economic collapse was providing homes for people who couldn't afford them, something the Dems pushed. In 1994 Obama was an attorney who sued Citibank for denying people loans, because they couldn't afford them. Though obama was saying it was a race issue. These facts are scary. Obama's been a part of the problem in the economy, his advisors were part of the problem, so electing him won't end economic woes.

Yes in 2003 the Bush administration tried to reform the regulations and oversight, to prevent things like this, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank were very much against it. If you did some research instead of believe everything you hear from the left-wing, you might learn something.
the only way to get out of this mess is to have the govt back the mortgages. last time we did this the govt made a profit, real estate always comes back around. if they dont back these mortgages and we continue to see these companies fail, not only will our economy take a hit more devastating than anything in its history, but the global markets will be largely affected as well, particularly asian markets. its unfortunate that the average citizen doesn't understand the situation and the actions we must take.
