Such a touchy subject. I feel that you are born gay but don't always realize it until later. You hear about people feeling like things didn't always feel right..you don't just choose to be gay, you just feel it and act on it. BUT what do I know, I'm straight. I do feel that it should be each persons choice to marry and not the government..if you believe people who are gay won't go to Heaven because they "choose" that life style, then let them know..but if that's who they are then that's who they are.

P-Nasty…….i live in Arizona……and this SUCKS!! there are signs on every friggin street corner "Yes on Marriage…Vote Yes on 102" the signs are very confusing for voters who don't know that it means.

When is comes to this proposal .. it all comes from the Republicans in Phoenix. All the Democrats live in every where else in Arizona. I hate Phoenix and Scottsdale for this reason. They are very closed minded up there!

Not all Arizonans agree with penning discrimination into our constitution or law; I don't think the government should decide who gets to marry.
For that matter, not all Arizonans think John McCain is great. I, for one, will never vote for him again after his despicable behavior during the last eighteen months or so.
Perez, on the one hand, you go ahead and praise Fall Out Boy and any other celebs for putting money towards the "No on Proposition 8" initiative, but are upset that groups are raising money in support for the opposite cause. Just as Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz are free to give money to any group they believe in, these Arizona residents are free to do the same. Don't condemn them simply because they don't share your worldview. This is the price of democracy.
Moreover, with the world's economy going into the crapper and the country rife with poverty, aren't there better ways both sides can be spending their money?
i dont understand why you get so crazy over this whole gay marriage proposition. neither candidate, obama or mccain, support gay marriage and marriage is a state law, so unless all states approve gay marriage, any gay marriage wont be legal in other states.
People shouldn't talk about Phoenix and what type of people that live there if they know nothing about it. I am a native of Phoenix,born and raised here and will never leave. Phoenix is sectioned off into sections and the people that support this bill(which I don't) live in "the nice part of town." Phoenix has a high Hispanic population and is not filled with just "mormons", its a melting pot. I am Catholic and have neighbors that are other religions. The people that you hear or read about do not speak for the residents that actually live here. Central Phoenix(where I live) is about 15 minutes from Tempe and ASU. We are very tolerate here and have gay pride marches down Central avenue every year. Every state has wack jobs,ours just happens to yell very loudly. This was voted against before and it will be voted against again. So Perez you suck for lumping Arizona into this narrow minded view on gay rights.

It's hard to get mad at someone who is giving of themselves for no personal gain. Fall Out Boy are getting nothing from Vote No on Prop 8. It seems to me, from the sneaky and misleading ads, from the way that they are using religion to mask their opinions, that they are doing it from a place of fear and bigotry. Remember, this noise we're hearing in the last few years is because of the decades of persectution that they are coming out of. Think back to the civil rights movement - once the firs trickle of voices began to be heard, the next wave comes like a river. people are crying out because for the first time in the last 2 and half centuries (cause remember before that, being gay was nowhere near the big deal it is now) they actually CAN have a voice without worrying for their life.

You can marry a 9 year old in Arizona but no same sex marriages, that's nasty!

Do you even know how much they donated to the Tsunami relief effort and Hurricaine Katrina and the recent Hurricanes as well? A LARGE portion of our tithing money goes towards helping those less fortunate than ourselves, to help pay for our church buildings, to donate to relief efforts. Stop being so ignorant and hateful of the Mormons.
Why is is "okay" to STILL hate the Mormons? They're one of the most peaceful religions out there. As a member, I've given a lot of time and money to others to help those in dire need. Please stop accusing the CHurch of being rude and filthy. They've never done a thing to hurt you. Many LDS families did donate to this cause of keeping the legal definition of Marriage as it stands. It has a lot to do with them not wanting their children to be taught that being gay is not a sin and that gay-marriage is better than traditional marriage and families. We have a right in this country to worship as we please and support what we want. Stop trying to shove your lifstyle choices down our throats. We don't do that to you, no matter how much you say we do. We just don't. Missionaries aren't doing it to you, they ask if they can deliver a message about Christ, and if you don't want to hear it, they go away.

Please, if you take umbrage with something I say, use my words don't put new ones in my mouth. I have an issue with faith based organisations getting involved in political issues. I feel this way because that is, in essence, forcing beliefs down the throats of fellow citizens who disagree. You actually said as much when you said that some Mormons donated to the cause because they did not want their children to be taught that being gay is not a sin. I have a HUGE issue with that What you discuss amongst your family, and what you have as your moral code is totally your business. But citizens who believe differently should not be held to ransom by that fear. That's exerting one belief system above another, and that is NOT DEMOCRATIC.

Re: Reneesouflee – I understand and took no personal offense at your original comments; my only concern is that, If I want to teach my children that homosexuality is a sin (based on my religious background) and that they are still good people and wonderful citizens, but that it's not "natural" for gays to marry, then I can be sued for spreading hate and intolerance. If I want to teach them that marriage between a man and woman is sacred and the school systems want to tell them that's wrong, I have a problem. Many of these gay-marriage packages come along with many other "rules and regulations" such as teaching all children that same-sex relationships are totally normal and that it is wrong to think otherwise. What will the religious community do? This wasn't done out of fear that our religions would be left in the dust by people who decide to become "nice" and "accepting", but frustration that our hope of continuing to raise children with their own religious beliefs would be infringed upon. It's okay to tell them that some people choose a homosexual lifestyle, but I refuse to accept them telling my children that it's wrong to disagree with the it.
