An interesting article on self-hating women and Sarah Palin in TIME. Plenty of reasons to disagree with her but the ability to inspire foaming-at-the-mouth rage? That's something we, as a society, generally reserve for women in positions of power.
What I learned from tonight is that Sarah Pailin is super passive aggressive which drives me insane. Or maybe it's just her accent I'm not sure but it drove me crazy. Most of her answer's were in direct. For the most part Biden was good but there was a moment where I thought he was just speaking and not thinking which made him sound sloppy and he was also way too soft on Pailin. All in all I just don't know exactly what Change the Republicans are talking about when their party has been in the White House for 8 years. What Change are they talking about. Change for the worse or are they Changing their own Party and cleaning up the mess .. I have a feeling the Republicans are using reverse physcology on democrats.

Okay, so I think we all know that dodging direct questions is nothing new in DC Politics, but Palin was able to take this to a new level tonight, hardly answering a single question. I will say upfront I'm voting for Obama. I won't go into why, but that's my decision. I think McCain is a suitable leader. I think he's a great American, a capable candidate, and has a great deal of experience. I hope despite his voting record that he won't be following the Bush Ideology, but i think he's a good candidate. I don't have anything nice to say about Sarah Palin other than if the lights are dimmed, she looks almost as pretty as Tina Fey. My problem is that people say ok well Obama has just as much a possibility of being assassinated as McCain has of having a fatal heart attack. The thing is, GOD forbid Barack were to die, Biden is a suitable replacement. I thought they both did well. Palin did much better than I expected her to, and to be honest, that was great to see. I do think Biden won the debate though. He was poised and well thought out. His experience, and the importance of experience showed. This debate was MUCH better than McCain vs Obama. Hopefully M and O will take note on how to answer questions in a debate instead of floating around what they really want to say.

I thought it was very clever how Sarah managed to turn her way of not answering questions around by explaining that she didn't answer like they do "in Washington" but she'd speak directly to the American people. What a crock. I hope no one was really fooled by that. It was so obvious that she'd been carefully coached to hit that point early on to explain away her ineptitude. I also was turned off by her "folksiness". I think it's extremely un-statesmanlike and it's also another one of her ways to deflect attention from the fact she doesn't know the material that's being covered. Again, very cleverly staged but obvious if you're paying attention. She held her own against Joe Biden but I felt all along as if she was merely reciting things like a child would recite their timestables in school, as if the information had no real meaning to her. I was happy to see that she contained her usual sarcasm though. I find that particularly annoying in a government official in the context of a debate. Joe Biden did what he needed to do tonight by keeping his answers short and concise for the most part and not drifting off as he tends to do. An interesting article on self-hating women and Sarah Palin in TIME. Plenty of reasons to disagree with her but the ability to inspire foaming-at-the-mouth rage? That's something we, as a society, generally reserve for women in positions of power.
What I learned from tonight is that Sarah Pailin is super passive aggressive which drives me insane. Or maybe it's just her accent I'm not sure but it drove me crazy. Most of her answer's were in direct. For the most part Biden was good but there was a moment where I thought he was just speaking and not thinking which made him sound sloppy and he was also way too soft on Pailin. All in all I just don't know exactly what Change the Republicans are talking about when their party has been in the White House for 8 years. What Change are they talking about. Change for the worse or are they Changing their own Party and cleaning up the mess .. I have a feeling the Republicans are using reverse physcology on democrats.
I think Plain can get snide real quick - that line about "east coast politicians" - she all about the politics of resentment, the last thing we need in the White House.

I thought that Palin ducked a lot of questions by commenting on her thoughts on other issues. I could see where she had been coached and where she wasn't. In the points that she made, some were full of passion, but the rest was just hot air.

Yep, I watched it. She didnt suck but I can tell you that the winking was one annoying assed gesture that I wished she'd left at home. Biden touched on the issues and actually ANSWERED the questions given to him. Palin was good at memorizing her lines. No substance and still left me empty. GO OBAMA/BIDEN!!
biden proved that he has self-restraint when needed. palin thinks it's quirky to avoid answering questions to make you believe she's strong and in charge, but the truth is–she can't answer the questions because she has no answer. she redirects in attempts to mislead americans into thinking she's a "strong woman" who doesn't answer "to the man." she disgusted me with her constant subject changing back to energy. the questions asked are asked for a reason: we, america, want to know your answer. we want to know your stance. it was insulting that she couldn't even do that. she was coached into being some sassy idiot, which does not change the fact that she is completely incapable of holding the second position of this country. i don't want "joe six pack" in office, i want someone who is extraordinary… THAT is why we elect someone with higher standards than we hold against the rest of america. i don't want a "hockey mom" making any major decisions for this country. she just further proved that she's a yappy warmonger with no business running for vice president.

Okay, so I think we all know that dodging direct questions is nothing new in DC Politics, but Palin was able to take this to a new level tonight, hardly answering a single question. I thought the funniest part was when she said that it may not be the answer that Biden, or the moderator are wanting, but she wants to give her angle, or something like that.
I think the possibility of this woman being the President of the US is completely sobering, and I consider myself a devout Republican. I am completely divided on who to vote for. I wish it was Biden for President, or McCain with Romney as the VP…

Sucks..I believe in equality for all, but I also knew that Obama was against gay marriage a long time ago..but no one in the mainstream media ever pushed the question on him.

palin just coasted on personality and likability. she really doesn't know much. she avoided questions and referred back to "campaign"- type answers. she doesn't know a lot about….well…anything. and it showed. she just didn't even try. she just wanted people to like her. nothing changed with the debate. if people liked her before the debate, they still love her. same with biden. but for those of us who really hate palin- it was torture. her middle america talk, was just annoying. her persistence in avoiding questions and outright lying in her answers, was frustrating.
I will say upfront I'm voting for Obama. I won't go into why, but that's my decision. I think McCain is a suitable leader. I think he's a great American, a capable candidate, and has a great deal of experience. I hope despite his voting record that he won't be following the Bush Ideology, but i think he's a good candidate. I don't have anything nice to say about Sarah Palin other than if the lights are dimmed, she looks almost as pretty as Tina Fey. My problem is that people say ok well Obama has just as much a possibility of being assassinated as McCain has of having a fatal heart attack. The thing is, GOD forbid Barack were to die, Biden is a suitable replacement. He will never be the next FDR or Lincoln or even Clinton, but he's "good enough" Palin is another four years of tired rhetoric and jargon, Palin is another Bush (no pun intended). She's actually the tits version of Bush. No one needs that. Vote Obama.

I thought they both did well. Palin did much better than I expected her to, and to be honest, that was great to see. I do think Biden won the debate though. He was poised and well thought out. His experience, and the importance of experience showed. This debate was MUCH better than McCain vs Obama. Hopefully M and O will take note on how to answer questions in a debate instead of floating around what they really want to say.

Biden was awesome! He was very professional. He's been in the game longer than Palin (who used SOCCER PARENTS as an example, wtf?!), and it definitely showed tonight!
Palin got on my nerves! "Darn right!" and "Heck" and things like that made her look stupid, and very unprofessional. Barbara Walters was correct in using the studying for the test analogy! Palin was good, but not as good as Biden. I knew Palin would be able to talk the talk, but I wasn't sure about Biden. Biden had a few slip ups but he was awesome. Some of the stuff Palin kept on saying was fucking ridiculous. The main mistake Biden made is he kept bashing McCain and I'm not sure if he should have kept on doing that because America already know McCain kinda sucks. Palin was bloody rude with some of her comments and I was looking at her and after a few of the things were said I started laughing.
It will be the same as with Gore and Kerry. The democrats whip themselves into a frenzy heading in to the election with such confidence only to have their hopes smashed when the final results come in. I would expect no different this year simply because all Americans get a vote, not just the loud, crazy ones.

I thought it was very clever how Sarah managed to turn her way of not answering questions around by explaining that she didn't answer like they do "in Washington" but she'd speak directly to the American people. What a crock. I hope no one was really fooled by that. It was so obvious that she'd been carefully coached to hit that point early on to explain away her ineptitude. I also was turned off by her "folksiness". I think it's extremely un-statesmanlike and it's also another one of her ways to deflect attention from the fact she doesn't know the material that's being covered. Again, very cleverly staged but obvious if you're paying attention. She held her own against Joe Biden but I felt all along as if she was merely reciting things like a child would recite their timestables in school, as if the information had no real meaning to her. I was happy to see that she contained her usual sarcasm though. I find that particularly annoying in a government official in the context of a debate. Joe Biden did what he needed to do tonight by keeping his answers short and concise for the most part and not drifting off as he tends to do. He did a good job of attacking McCain and not Sarah Palin which I'm sure he was coached to do. All in all, I would call tonight's debate a draw for the most part. I don't see that either one of them knocked it out of the park.
