Things Get A Little Too Real On The Set Of Dexter

Holy crap!
Dexter star Jimmy Smits stabbed a stuntman with a real knife by accident!!!
Jeff Chase narrowly escaped disaster when, by pure luck, the actor hit the small plate of plastic protecting Chase's heart instead of flesh. In most of the previous takes, Smits had missed his mark with the prop knife.
Chase, who was bound and gagged for the scene, could do nothing as he watched Smits grab the real knife instead of the fake one and plunge the weapon into him. By the time fellow actor Michael C. Hall realized Smits' error it was too late.
Stunt work sounds dangerous!!!
Chase - who we're sure has seen a lot of injuries in his profession - brushed it off, just thankful to be alive. He said, "Jimmy was devastated and couldn't stop apologizing. I told him, I felt more sorry for him than me."
Why would you keep a real knife near a fake one????

This sounds like a lot of BS. More publicity for the show? Come on they would not keep a real knife by a fake one puleezze.
This is a phony story I'm guessing, no doubt to drum up publicity for the show. don't get me wrong, I like the show, but nobody would be stupid enough to have a real knife there, and if they did, then the studio deserves to have their insurance rates quadruple.
After watching Cane last season I remember thinking Jimmy Smits is an "accident waiting to happen". I just meant I thought they would cancel the show, I never dreamed it meant he was going to stab a stuntman on Dexter!

Welp, Brandon Lee was killed by a real bullet on set of The Crow. If real bullets could be on set, why not real knives?

surrre it was a "mistake" lol j/k but seriously…i want to know also why they would keep and real knife and a fake knife in the same area…sounds fishy to me…

Brandon Lee was NOT killed by a REAL bullet! It was a BLANK that somehow mis-fired, FRAGMENTED and hit him in the head, where the gun was aimed. As for those of you who have somehow become friggin' EXPERTS at stunt work and stunt coordination, get a clue you fukin' dummies! They will keep real and fake "props" because in some scenes, you are required to use the REAL item to make it look… un, REAL? DUH? HELLO??? It's the PROPMASTER's responsibility to make sure the PROP - in this case a KNIFE - is the correct one in the ACTOR's hand. Man, I just love it when people with ZERO experience come a post their CRAP about knowing stuff. I've been there, done it and KNOW that this SHIT HAPPENS from time to time! Pathetic…
