First, if it weren't for Nicole Richie (then Mandy Moore) no one would even know who this guy was.

Second, it seems a bit disrespectful to the families of those who died in the crash for him to appear on a magazine cover so soon after, talking about it and obviously profiting from it.

Editor’s Note
Just as this issue was going to press, we received the terrible news that DJ AM along with Blink 182’s Travis Barker, were the only survivors of a tragic plane crashed that ended the lives of four people on board. At press time, both AM and Barker are recovering from severe burn injuries. Along with wishing both healthy, full recoveries, we would like to share the following interview and shoot we did with DJ AM prior to the September 19 crash. As the article suggests, AM impressed us with his genuine, down-to-earth personality and fighting spirit, which we hope will help him get through this difficult time.
