This is an awful trend that has to stop!
As we mentioned last week, South Korea actress in Choi Jin-sil, was found dead of an apparent suicide.
And now, just a few days later, another South Korean celeb has committed suicide.
This time it's Kim Ji-hoo, a young 23 year old model and actor.
Apparently, after coming out as gay, the harassment was just too much for him.
So sad!
Ji-hoo was found dead earlier this week after apparently hanging herself.
This seems to be a common trend in South Korea, with many people not being able to tolerate the social pressures, such as actress Jeong Da-Bin and pop singer Yuni, both of which were found hanged last year.
And according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), South Korea has the highest suicide rate of all OECD members, many of which are developed countries.
Suicide is never the answer, y'all!!!!

perez is talking about the actress who killed HERSELF recently as well, not the topic of discussion.
south korean culture is very different from ours. first, the pressure to succeed is very high–students study hard to speak a variety of languages, they have stiff competition to get into schools at even the high school leve, and societal norms are very rigid. there are high schoolers who are on the verge of suicide and suffer extreme anxiety because they study all the time, as in japan. image is very important. parental pressure to do what the family wants is often also a factor.

While it's important to report issues such as suicide your style of reporting isn't very responsible. its been widely documented that reports of suicide often lead to an increase in suicides. Especially at the present time when many people are feeling the pressure of financial strain it's not enough to say 'suicide is never the answer y'all'. Take some responsibility perez and at least list available help for depression under any reporting of this sensitive topic.
Not all the korean stars that commited suicide were rich (a semi-reply to those people who said that). Kim Ji Hoo wasn't that popular…at least I've never heard of it…sometimes they kill themselves because of a lack of jobs coming in and harassment at the same time. It's really unfortunate…Choi Jin Shil was Korea's sweetheart….and Jung Da Bin was a budding young actress…loved both of them >.
oh also…there was another suicide after Choi Jin Shil and before Kim Ji Hoo…it was a transgender who had recently gone through surgery Jang Chae Won…I think…I guess also couldn't take the harassment…*sigh

As Kim Ji-hoo's suicide illustrates, not everybody is able to cope with life as an out homosexual and what comes with it. What makes me laugh, Perez, is that you refer to this situation as "so sad", but do your damnedest to out celebrities like Queen Latifah, Kevin Spacey, and Jodie Foster, despite their choosing not do so themselves. Since you've proven to be classless on a daily basis, I wouldn't expect you to change your tact in the future, but this incident should be enough for you to realize how insulting it is when you trivialize people's sexuality the way you do. well i believe as asians its a bit harder to deal with the social pressure to come out in an asian country. there are so many expectations that the parents impress on a person (pressures unlike here in the US). These expectations stem all the way from Confucian times where it was pretty darn strict. Its unfortunate that he had to resort to dying. I heard in countries like South Korea, being is gay is so bad that they resort to hate crimes against you and your family. Nearly all asian kids that come out are disowned and are outcasts of asian society.

Do you REALLY want to compare resumes? I have been a stay-at-home mom for the past 4 years, after selling my highly successful business before moving to another state. I am now 43 years old, fully retired, widowed and mother of a 13yo. I volunteer at my sons school…and, I am a member of the PTO. I own 1 SUV (which WILL be added to in a couple of years when my son starts driving….he wants a muscle car. I'm thinking along the lines of a Chevy Nova, but, he wants a Mustang) a lawn tractor that costs more to run for 3 months than all of your kids eat in a year, and 1 home (1,300 s.f. on 3/4 of an acre, 2 car garage) OUTRIGHT. Meaning, I do NOT owe one damn penny on them (except property taxes). I do not have ANY credit card debt, whatsoever…and, ALL of my utilities are paid in full each month.
I don't give a shit how old you are. I seriously doubt that you are debt free.

There is something very gross and UN-profound in the way Perez presents things. This post is a true tragedy one he should be able to relate to in SOME way, in that he was probably the biggest homo in school and was DEEPLY affected by the harrassment.
