wow….I can only imagine this is the beginning of ads such as this. Gays are still one of the last minorities it is "ok" to discrimanate against….and it is sad. I am a mom, and guess what. I have taught my kids that love is love. I won't restrict or condemn them for who they are with as long as there is respect and love between the couple. I can't imagine being so one-sighted.

The schools are not 'teaching' the kids to marry the same sex, what they are saying is that you have the choice, and that its OK to think that way. No school is saying the child has to marry the same sex and that its "right"….many children at a young age are confused and scared on this topic, and its reassuring to know they are ok, they have options and not different. This ad makes me very upset and sad….

If I liced in CA and could vote, I would personally vote "No" on Prop. 8. However, you must realize that any and ALL parents that disagree with prop 8 have the right to exercise their freedom of choice (which applies to much more than a woman's right to choose) and tell their kids that what they're being taught about marriage in school is wrong.
The thing you forget almost every single time, Mario, is that there is a flip side. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. And, for the record, the way that prop. 8 has been handled, with it being put to a vote before the PEOPLE of CA, and being talked about by both sides in an open and HONEST forum (no matter how much the sides disagree), is WONDERFUL. I hope sincerely that prop. 8 is defeated, but one way or the other, way to go California on bringing true democracy back to the PEOPLE, and taking it out of the hands of judges, courts and legislators.

i had 12 year olds sitting i my front yard the other day talking to me. they told me one of their classmates was gay. i replied that she was too young and was just experimenting, that this kind of experimenting until at least college years is normal. they said no, they learned in health that she is gay?????
i tried to explain that lots of people experiment and change their minds when they are grown, they can even change their minds and be gay later in life cause maybe they have biased views now. they were very derogative about the girl being gay. they said no not true they learned it in health and someone who is twelve already knows if they are gay or straight and can't change. uummmm all i could think to say was that perhaps this is true since i didn't want to kiss a girl when i was 12 and still don't but i am not buying it. they offered to bring me my health book since i am such an idiot. so if the teachings are going to work they need to be non-restrictive, this isn't going to work i can tell already, how many people change their minds from gay to straight or vice versa in college???? i am thinking a lot and even later.

My sister is gay so don't anyone dare say I hate gays. However, it is not ethical to confuse a little kid by teaching them about sexuality. I think the problem that a lot of people have with this is NOT the fact that they want to teach children that being gay or being straight is ok. I think the problem that people have with this is that they are teaching 7 and 8 year olds about this at all. Children this age aren't thinking about who they are gonna marry or who they love or if they are gay or straight.
Personally, if my schools started teaching this, I would home school my children.

But it is my job to talk to my kids first, have the lines of communication open so they are comfortable talking to me about it, and then they can come to me with what they are being taught is school, so I can clarify anything or answer any questions. Its the same with sex ed. I don't expect them to get all of their info from teachers at school. I would do the same. elaborate and clarify the things that they have learned, and teach them what I believe. You know; that silly little thing called parenting.

I am a stragiht woman with a 2 1/2 year old little boy. Since he was a teeny baby, I have taken him to Gay Pride Festivals and Parades in San Diego. For one it's alot of fun but mostly when he grows up if he ever has to make that decision to come out, he knows it will be just fine. If he wants to marry or love another man, great as long as he's happy.

Wow! I'm so glad that my parents raised me to love everyone. My mom always said to love any respect any person no matter what skin color, religion, sexual orientation, NO MATTER WHAT. Parents who teach their kids anything else should be ashamed. Period.

You know your Golden Child is against gay marriage, Why can't gay people not be happy with a civil union, which would grant couples the same rights, but just not call it a marriage in the laws eyes. Have a big lavish wedding and call each other groom and groom. Gay people want to "fight" for their rights. Key word…..fight. That automatically puts gay people against straight people…..a fight! Now, when it coms to sex ed I don't mind schools teaching sex ed in regards to the body and it's functions meaning, explaining puberty for boys and girls, sexually transmitted diseases, consequences of being sexually active. WHen it comes to relationships, however; I don't want anyone teaching my child a/b that issue. The issue of marriage, gay marriage, singledom, who it's okay to have sex with etc is subjective therefore IMHO ( in my humble opinion) this has no place in school. Kids can observe their parent(s) and decide for themselves as they grow older what they want for themselves in a relationship. I have a couple girlfriends for example that absolutely REFUSE to get married… why, b/c they believe marriage goes against nature ( anthrolpology majors
