OMG!!! They need to deal with it. I'm glad that it isn't retouched. It just shows me that she is a normal person and has the same problems as any other woman.

Is Sarah a supermodel? No! So why should she be touched up like all the supermodels? She is a real person, and we can see her flaws. We all know that supermodels on the covers of magazines do not look like that in real life. Its nice to see a real person on a magazine!

I've worked as a photojournalist for many years and newspapers and mags DON'T retouch photos. It would be considered VERY unethical to do so since the photos need to be truthful. The "halo" effect on Obama is backlight from some kind of lightsource…not edited on in photoshop people! Clearly many of you seem very confused about what journalists do. Pity for all of us I guess. Magazines like US weekly and other ENTERTAINMENT mags do retouch…that' s a whole different story.
This is Newsweek though. Remember when the whole thing happened with OJ Simpson when one of the weekly's darkened the image so that he looked darker than he actually is. There was an uproar in the journalistic community and everytime something similar has happened…people lose their jobs.
Now as far as choices of images go…there are clearly more and less flattering images to choose of people but NO respectable news organization does any wrinkle retouching EVER!!! You're only allowed to do to a newsphoto what can be done in a traditional darkroom. Anything more has to be labeled as a photoillustration.

If Republicans are going to promote her as the down to earth "good mom" why would they expect her to be retouched like a super model… they should be happy that she is portrayed as a REAL woman not the painting that most photo shopped magazine pics turn out to be!
