Gay Marriage Legalized - A Victory For Equality In Connecticut!!!!

Filed under: Gay Gay Gay > Inspiration

The Supreme Court of Connecticut has just ruled today, Friday, that same sex couples have the right to legally marry in the state.

"Civil unions" wont cut it in CT. Gays and lesbians will now be granted full equality under the law of the state, marriage.

YES!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes it feels like we are living in the early 1900's where woman can't vote and there aren't equal rights. What is the reasoning for this not being legal every where..why just Connecticut and few other states.
Gay & Straight are all one!
Marriage is two people who want to spend their lives together.
Good for Connecticut, I cannot understand why others don't follow suit.
What's the big deal? It's normal…a few conservative religious freaks are controlling the law of the land, there needs to be a separation between chuch and state, gosh sometimes I feel like I'm living in 1925.

Omg! I was literally just feeling so down about how gays are being treated in this country after watching the video from the bitch in oklahoma, but this just lifted my spirit! Thank you perez! You are so right to put this under 'inspiration'!

Now on to California! No on PROP 8

    3. 3

I would never judge any one !
You are free to do as you please
but as for me I'm sticking to the
Original way . How it first started
      man and woman :)

    19. 19

Fantastic news…I look forward to the day when all 50 states see the light.

    20. 20

How awesome! This was a long time coming - this should be legal everywhere, and I'm sorry it isn't. But, how awesome that changes are finally being made!

    21. 21

Good news indeed!! Equality for everyone regardless of sexual preference!!

    22. 22

Yes good for Ct. Ignore what the voters want, just like here in Ca. So much for the democratic process. Yay.

    23. 23

PEREZ, WILL YOU MARRY ME??? ;) LOL

    24. 24

I don't believe in changing the definition of marriage–it is and should only be between a man and a woman. I am all for equal rights and I believe these can be achieved through civil unions.

For the record, both the democratic and republican parties believe "marriage" should be kept between a man and a woman.

    25. 25

      That's my state!
…but i am looking forward to the day when the united states as a whole can acknowledge that marriage is not about the gender, but more about the love and commitment that two people have for eachother.
      Horray!

      Re: Starequisite

There is no evidence that humans, or for that matter mamals can actually do this. So far there is only one tale of this happeneing. Sounds more like what a scared teenager tells their dad when they turn up knocked up. " I swear dad, it was am immaculate conception, I was not banging the goat herder I promise ".
So rejoice and sodomize your neighbor. The fags have been givin free reign to get on their soapbox.

    27. 27

who wears the pants in that relationship? hahaha! if you are dating someone that looks like a dude and acts like a dude dresses like a dude…why not be with a dude…not a dude imitation…

      Re: Starequisite
well if you know about GOD then you know about the BIBLE
I know the bible was not written by God but I
Believe it was divinely inspired by him.
There is a story in the Bible where all the people
Were living in sin. Men with men, woman with woman
God did not like it. … He destroyed the city because they
Were living in sin. Now I grew up in church all my life
And I know what is right and what is wrong but like I said
I’m not here to judge, only God has the power and right to
Do that… but I’m not going to side with it , and I do
Believe that MAN WAS MENT FOR WOMAN.
I have believed that my whole life and will keep believing
It till my last breath has been taken.
That’s just me like I said  have a Blessed day!

    32. 32

      34

It is a dangerous precedent to set when judges, who are APPOINTED and not ELECTED, decide law. Let me put it like this, what if the decision went the exact opposite way and the "Supreme" Court of CT decided to outlaw gay marriage forever in perpetuity? What then? You could never give same sex couples the right to marry! Think!!!!! As I have said before, for every action there is an equal and OPPOSITE reaction.

This should have been put to a vote by the PEOPLE of CT, like the situation with Prop. 8 in CA. The PEOPLE of a state should decide matters like this, not a few judges who were appointed by someone with and agenda.

    35. 35

Re: Smirks – I am shocked. Buddy u ain't republican. How come we agree on this? again, I am shocked. This is great news!! progress!! awesome!! true colors of peace and acceptance!

    36. 36

this is good news but the sad thing is that i live in connecticut and i found this out through an international blog site versus the state govt website… they are not quit about posting important information and posting here in the state. put this is a great step forward!

    37. 37

      Re: SmellyVirus/MileyCyrus

Maybe because gay people want to be recognized as MARRIED not civil unioned.. just because a little girl is gay doesnt mean she doesn't dream of the perfect wedding day..

Re: PLainJane82 – Hehe. It shouldn't surprise you. I live in California and I'm all for the gays. Love 'em! We're not all "monsters" you know. ;)

Re: erhg74 – Glad we agree. I am not really a Republican, no. I stand for LESS government interference in ALL our lives. I am anti-big fucking government. In fact, if we legalized drugs and prostitution in every state, and taxed the shit out of it, budget deficit solved, imo. lol.

    43. 43

Re: SmellyVirus/MileyCyrus – you fail to realize that equal rights cannot be achieved with civil unions. the fact that civil unions and marriages have different titles makes it different in the first place. Gay and Lesbian couples can't enjoy the tax and insurance benefits that couples legally married can. Rights aren't equal unless they are the same, it's as simple as that. By pinning a different name and different benefits on the joining of gay or lesbian couples, you fail to make it the same.

The issue of gay marriage does not affect me, and I made that quite clear. The issue I was pointing out is that when a COURT and not the PEOPLE decide on one thing they are setting a precedent for other MUCH MORE IMPORTANT things to be decided by, wait for it…A FUCKING COURT!

Now you, get over yourself and look at the larger statement I was making. Douche.

That's what you said.Under no circumstances should anyone decide a matter that won't directly affect them! The federal governemnt should just legalize itand let it be. that way there will never be an issue about it again. no discussion in politics and we can all move on and only focus on important issues. there is no definition for marriage other than two committed people in love wanting to celebrate and legitimize their relationship. SO suck it!

ARE YOU A COMMIE?? JUST LET THE GOVERNMENT DECIDE EVERYTHING FOR YOU? GRRRREAT, IDIOT.

    66. 66

Re: Bdub – Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. This is how gay marriage was legalized in Canada. Appointed officials (all of whom have their own agendas) making law. If gay marriage was put to a public referendum in Canada, would it pass? Absolutely, I would think, but it wasn't. The Supreme Court of Canada, made up of appointed officials, decided that for the nation. Appointed officials are making our laws. That's the big problem here. It's same-sex marriage today, but who knows what it might be tomorrow? Regardless of where you stand on the issue of gay marriage, this is a dangerous precedent to set and might have serious repercussions down the line. California is doing it the right way by letting its people decide.

    67. 67

Re: MATTYKANSAS – yeah EVERYTHING, that's not what i said you moron, i said the governemnt should stay out of our personal lives once and for all! there should be laws that DON'T allow government state or fedeal to interfere in one's personal life. i didn't say the government should control everything you moron! listen and open your mind

    68. 68

Good for CT. For a country that acts like it's so free.. I guess it just depends on who you are… if you don't like gay marriage.. Don't get married to someone of the same sex. Simple as that.

"Smalls" - learn how to spell before using caps to incite hatred.
I'm in a "hetro" marriage to my best friend but some of the most loving couples and magnificent parents I know are gay. In reference to your bible comment:
      1. Homosexuality is widespread in botany the animal kingdom. FACT. Did God just eff-up a certain percentage of His great creation OR if HE is the all-powerful, all-knowing entity that you claim Him to be, then why did He make so many "mistakes"?
      2. Then, is the line "Love your neighbor as yourself" in the New Testament just contradicting the first missive "channeled" from God and are those words spoken by Jesus Christ just a contradiction?
      3. Where is there a clause that says: "Love your neighbor - except in the following instances…"
Keep up the good fight my beautiful Gays.

i just don't understand gays. if a gay guy likes someone they'll usually go after a guy that looks like a girl, talks like a girl acts like a girl…why not just be with a girl?!?! how dumb…i think the homosexuals are corrupting our country and they all need Jesus in their life! It literally makes me sick to think of our government legalizing gay marriage, especially where i live, california. YES on Prop 8!!!!!

    84. 84

      "Emifinky"-
first of all go smalls!! you have it right i believe what you do too!
Emifinky- God made no mistakes, He created us to make our own decisions, to have free will. As sinful human beings we decided to make the mistakes but God can't have us all live in a perfect little world otherwise we would all be robots! so Gd gives us the choice every day to do what we want and as Christians if you sin, you can still be forgiven. So "emifinky" get your facts straight before you get all defensive. Smalls is right , no one is jumping down your throat with "hatred" so chill. People say horrible things about us Christians all the time and we don't take offense because we know we are right and we know where we are going when we die, do you?

Re: Sammi07 – If there is a devil, you must be closely related to it. There is nowhere in the bible where it states that homosexuality is wrong. If that is what you want to understand from your bible, I feel sorry for you. I suggest that you actually read the story of Sodom and understand it. You may also want to read all the passages on judgment.

Also, your feminine-masculine homosexual union could not be more stereotypical. I wonder why people say horrible things about ”you” Christians all the time. Could it be because of the false Christians who use religion to promote hatred and war? I'm an atheist. Rock on, true Christians. You are in no way a Christian nor are you spiritual.

Re: PLainJane82 – RETARD. It is not about "the issue" at hand. It is about COURTS deciding rather than PEOPLE!!! AS I SAID: What if the judge was some crazy wacko that went the other way with the decision? WHAT THEN FUCKTARD. What if none of the judges on the court are gay? The decision doesn't affect them either!!!!

I am trying to make the point that VOTES BY THE PEOPLE should make decisions NOT courts. You are perhaps the stupidest human being with whom I have ever communicated.

    87. 87

Yay. Another small step in the right direction. Americans seem slow to open their minds to change. Go, Connecticut.

    88. 88

Re: Sammi07 – you really disgust me and being Christian myself makes me feel horrible about my religion because I share it with extremists like you. If you haven't realized, Christianity is not the only religion in the world. There are a great deal of people that do not believe in God or his teachings. So those who follow other religions in this country suffer because of what God "tells" the president, congress, and state governments what to believe about how people should live their lives. WHAT is so threatening about extending gay and lesbian couples the same rights that you take for granted. People like you think that the apocalypse is coming because people who are DIFFERENT say "I do." HOW are they "corrupting" our country? Tell me one negative thing that homosexuality has done besides rile you up? You keep preaching that God is forgiving and gives us free will but you want to limit the rights of people who don't share your lifestyle. Really, to put it in your terms I hope God forgives you for being such a bigot.

Again I am sorry for speaking to you like you were someone who actually has the mental, deductive wherewithal to debate by looking at the whole picture (or in this case, posts). Honestly, I'm not sure how you survived Roe V. Wade and managed to "dodge the hanger". I thought all you libs wanted abortion legal to be able to get rid of mentally underdeveloped people like you?

And, just so we're clear, Roe V. Wade should never have been heard by the Supreme Court either. It should have come down to the states, and the states right to choose it's own fate. Abortion is absolutely something that affects everyone, so don't go down that road. And, I am pro-choice. Weird.

DO NOT judge me and tell me I am not a Christian because people like you have no idea what Christianity really is.

God never said that homosexuality was okay, why do you think he created Adam and Eve!!?! A man and a woman is what God intended for marriage and nothing else. Re: PLO – If you want to know where in the Bible it says homosexuality is wrong, first buy a bible cause you probably don't have one, then open it to Genesis, Galatians 5, 1 Corinthians 6, those passages will tell you!

You don't have to deal with feelings of self-hate or loneliness. You are free to live your life and get married. There are people who were brought up in church, love the Lord, but only have romantic feelings towards the same-sex. They know that society will never accept them, they feel trapped and sometimes suicidal. There are others that choose to be brave and live their life openly gay, which isn't easy either. Regardless of how you feel about people who are gay, as a Christian you should care about their well-being and happiness.
