Gay Kiss 'Uproar' in the UK

Oh, the fuss!
BBC soap opera EastEnders featured two of its male characters engaged in a passionate lip lock on Tuesday.
Since then, the state supported net has supposedly been 'flooded' with complaints (an 'enormous' 145) for screening the gay kiss before 9pm.
Interesting note, this latest 'outrage' has hit 21 years AFTER EastEnders screened the first gay kiss in a British soap.
The BBC released the following statement about the outcry:
"We approach our portrayal of homosexual relationships in the same way as we do heterosexual relationships. We believe that the general tone and content of EastEnders is now widely recognised. Parents can make an informed decision as to whether they want their children to watch."
Yeah, parents!

Hollyoaks has openly gay people people on their show and no one complains.
They show two gay men in bed occasionally (not ACTUALLY doing it..Just..The morning after..) and that's on at 6.30pm.

currently the story line is about mercedes mcqueen got rabbis, then the whole mcqueen family is being kidnapped by their secret brother who the mother gave up for adoption when he was a baby and hes angry and is taking away her kids, the first was her son who is gay and had an affair with a priest, the second was with a slutty girl, third was mercedes and carmel and now tina today.

God forbid we should expose our children to people showing love and affection for one another. They might turn out.. well… compassionate.
Pick your battles, people. Save the complaints for when they show ugly gay people kissing. Or fat gay people. NOT the hot dudes.
Really, in this day and age? It would seem that with all the violence and horror that you would think a little love would do the world some good… regardless of who is showing it.

Do all the gay marches, gay pride, lesbian pride, law changes you want to do to try to make yourselfs equal; but you are not, and never will be. Ever. And that is not due to descrimination, intolerace or unjust treatment. It is due to the fundamental, physiological laws of nature. Ever since the beginning of time, it has been male and females, females and males. It is the way our biology and chemistry is designed. You take two men or two women together, and you have a malfunction. I would never in a million years dream of decriminating against a homosexual person in public, job interviews, or in the work place. But please remember, that even though your state may issue you a document stating you are legally married, you are not. Not in the eyes of society.

Well, I let my kids watch anything as long as we talked about it now one is a screen writer, one acts, and one is balancing a career as a singer/songwriter with studies in anthropology. It's not the what; it's the how.
So whaaaaat. Torchwood is a lot more, er, adult in content. I personally have never read a complaint about it. Not that I've really looked… but anyway.
Meh, I thought the one at the end of the Torchwood ep "Captain Jack Harkness" was a better kiss.

Well, then you know what you should do, then, right? Don't get married to someone that's the same sex as you. If you want to protect marriage, throw people in jail for cheating on their spouse. Make divorce harder to get. Make marriage harder to get for that matter. I really don't see how a gay kiss could still cause an uproar nowadays! Especially in the UK! For the past two years, Hollyoaks (another majorly popular British soap) has had a very publicized gay character in very open relationships! The John Paul and Craig relationship won the show awards, a TON of viewership and a huge fanbase (Mcdean)!! If anything, I think having a gay character in a show brings in better ratings than not having one. I say congrats to the staff at EastEnders for sticking up for themselves in their decision!
