Someone's looking like a hypocrite!
According to reports, a bipartisan committee of Alaska legislators (so, BOTH Republicans AND Democrats) voted 12-0 on Friday to release a report that revealed Veep candidate and current Alaskan governor Sarah Palin violated state ethics law "by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper."
Here it is in a nutshell:
Even before Sexy Sarah was nominated to be the Republican Veep candidate, an inquiry was kicked off to look into her dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan, who said he lost his job because he resisted pressure to fire her ex-brother-in-law.
Sexy Sarah has said Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.
Well, the report released on Friday said two important things. First, Monegan's firing was lawful. But, the pressure Palin and her husband put on him, was not.
You, like us, may be wondering what the heck does her husband, a non-elected, unofficial player have to do with this?
Well, check this out!
The report notes a few instances in which Sexy Sarah pressed the case against trooper Mike Wooten, but it was her husband, Todd, who led the charge to get 'em.
Todd Palin had extraordinary access to the governor's office and her closest advisers and he used that access to try to get Wooten fired. Sexy Sarah knowingly "permitted Todd to use the Governor's office and the resources of the Governor's office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired".
Hmmmm. Using public office to advance a family vendetta?
And, allowing a family member to use tax payer supported resources to do so?
It seems more crony than maverick to us!
Not right, don't you think?
Scary thing is, during the Veep debate, Sexy Sarah said that she wanted to (unconstitutionally?!) EXPAND the powers of the Veep office should she be allowed in there.

I heard on the TV that the trooper was using his trooper weapons to abuse her sister's children. He had, allegedly, tazered his 12-year-old step son. I think any of us would have done whatever we could to get those weapons out of the abuser's hands. And even as a governor, you know the courts take a long time. I know I would have used whatever power I had to do what she did.

It said that his firing was LAWFUL, but the pressure that was put on him was not, which then resulted in her abusing her power. No one is saying the trooper is a saint. The point is, if you want to get rid of someone like him, you have to do it the right way, like it or not, he has rights too. If she would have played by the rules and let the law take over, she wouldn't be in this predicament. When it comes down to it, politician are dirty. I'm choosing the one that is the best fit for me, my ideals, my hope for my country. I could care less about Rev. Wright and the others to tell you the truth, but that's just me. His ties to so-an-so aren't super on a politicians resume but to tell you the truth, they don't make me feel uncomfortable–but that's just me. I have had many an acquaintance in my day with a shady past, but it doesn't reflect on me as a person. I'm sure you'll want to rip me a new one on that statement, but I could really care less because it's just how I feel.
I'm an independant, I don't vote by party, I vote by who I believe is going to fix this country internally and how we appeal to the world at large. McCain isn't that man. He and his running mate are using Obama's middle name as a scare tactic, it's all they have at this point. But, what about all of the law abiding Muslims who live here peacefully, aren't they conjuring up hate towards these people as well? It's rude, it dispicable, it's politics and it's a sign that the McCain campaign has sprung a leak and from where I'm sitting will sink come Nov 4.

Seriously, how naive are ALL of you? Shocked and appalled! A political figure abusing power. Gee, that NEVER happens on a DAILY basis! Face it. Whether it is Obama or McCain, there will be no change. There are no longer two parties in Washington. Instead it has merged into the Republicats! The differences are negligible, as BOTH parties lean toward the elite. Neither party is truly "for change!" What this country needs is a third Independent party. Until that happens, no matter who gets in, it will be business as usual in DC. The whole system has become corrupt and it amazes me that ANYONE still has faith in a system that continues to make the middle class pay for the sins of the out of control political greed mongers. Whether it is the Bush family (big oil) or the Clintons (remember Whitewater?), the McCains or the Baracks, they do NOT relate to the real people of this country.
