Someone's looking like a hypocrite!
According to reports, a bipartisan committee of Alaska legislators (so, BOTH Republicans AND Democrats) voted 12-0 on Friday to release a report that revealed Veep candidate and current Alaskan governor Sarah Palin violated state ethics law "by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper."
Here it is in a nutshell:
Even before Sexy Sarah was nominated to be the Republican Veep candidate, an inquiry was kicked off to look into her dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan, who said he lost his job because he resisted pressure to fire her ex-brother-in-law.
Sexy Sarah has said Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.
Well, the report released on Friday said two important things. First, Monegan's firing was lawful. But, the pressure Palin and her husband put on him, was not.
You, like us, may be wondering what the heck does her husband, a non-elected, unofficial player have to do with this?
Well, check this out!
The report notes a few instances in which Sexy Sarah pressed the case against trooper Mike Wooten, but it was her husband, Todd, who led the charge to get 'em.
Todd Palin had extraordinary access to the governor's office and her closest advisers and he used that access to try to get Wooten fired. Sexy Sarah knowingly "permitted Todd to use the Governor's office and the resources of the Governor's office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired".
Hmmmm. Using public office to advance a family vendetta?
And, allowing a family member to use tax payer supported resources to do so?
It seems more crony than maverick to us!
Not right, don't you think?
Scary thing is, during the Veep debate, Sexy Sarah said that she wanted to (unconstitutionally?!) EXPAND the powers of the Veep office should she be allowed in there.

The sad part is, all of her delusional supporters will try and say that she was wrongfully accused. Its had to cover the truth people! No surprise there! It was obvious she abused her power! But what is surprising is the involvement of her husband- how dare the family use taxpayer funded resources to pressure someone! She can try to spin it all she wants but the truth is, she is power hungry and can't be trusted. What in Gods green earth was McCain thinking when he choose Gov. Palin, especially because this was going on BEFORE she was announced as his VeeP choice!??! The man is plainly out of touch with not only the country, but common sense!

Despite my avitar, I am a strong Obama supporter — and I would never want to see Palin as VP. But this is what I have to say about your coverage of this news. I heard on the TV that the trooper was using his trooper weapons to abuse her sister's children. He had, allegedly, tazered his 12-year-old step son. I think any of us would have done whatever we could to get those weapons out of the abuser's hands. And even as a governor, you know the courts take a long time. I know I would have used whatever power I had to do what she did.

When Palin said she wanted to expand the power of the VP, she meant that she wanted to expand her power to her husband. Judging by her past behavior, a McCain/Palin ticket according to Sarah will actually be a McCain/Palin/Palin ticket!

It said that his firing was LAWFUL, but the pressure that was put on him was not, which then resulted in her abusing her power. No one is saying the trooper is a saint. The point is, if you want to get rid of someone like him, you have to do it the right way, like it or not, he has rights too. If she would have played by the rules and let the law take over, she wouldn't be in this predicament. And no, her not playing by the rules in this case does not make her a maverick, it makes her vindictive.
