NBC has always sucked. Earl is the only good show they have.

I hate NBC. They always cancel the good shows if they don't soar in the ratings over 2 episodes. It really pissed me off when they axed the black donnellys. I will never watch NBC.

Its called "Creative Accounting" you dick of the month club. You've monitored the entertainment business for how long? If you pile enough costs into something, you can make it look like a loser. Cuts down on revenue sharing agreement payouts and such. That's why an artist can sell 1 million albums but get no cut because they 'haven't recovered their costs". something must be up with NBC. I live in Austin and our Cable Company (Time Warner Cable) and NBC are having a dispute. NBC wants to charge Time Warner 1 cent, per house hold, per day to broadcast on Time Warner. Time Warner said, "NO" and NBC pulled their network off of Time Warner cable.

People its a common accounting trick to hyper load expenses into one project to make it lose money while other projects make money from unloading expenses. Why? Because the olympics probably has two big areas where NBC can save huge amounts of money. First, no revenue sharing with affiliates and sub-sponsors. Second, they probably have negotiated kickers to the Chinese government that would increase their rights fees based on income from the olympics. If there is no profit, none of these kick in. Please step away from the keyboard, go hunt down all of the school board members where you went to high school and kill them for giving you such a lousy world education.

i always find it funny when people who have no idea what they are talking about decide to spout nonsense of which they have no true knowledge about. unfortunately for you, you don't know how the television business works. nearly EVERY major sports production runs the risk of losing money, let alone the olympics. you mentioned that you thought NBC's coverage was great for this olympics, how exactly do you think that happened? NBC more than tripled the hours of coverage made available to viewers during the Summer Games, and it's not like they just found more equipment and had lots of volunteers. all that costs money, and lots of it. what you've clearly not taken into consideration is the fact that the bar has been set considerably higher, and by the time of the Winter Games two years from now, advertisers will be spending twice as much for commercial space because they understand the built-in audience that reached gargantuan proportions in August.
