So, in the financial race to protect marriage equality and beef up the No On 8 campaign, celebrities have been pitching in left and right, answering a recent challenge to raise $500,000.
Here's a rundown:
-T. R. Knight threw down another $50,000, for a combined total of $100,000
- That matches Brad Pitt's $100,000 contribution
-Along with donation twinsie Steven Spielberg
-Fall Out Boy's $50,000 is nothing to sneeze at
-#24 and #39 on Out's 2008 Power 50 list, Suze Orman and Jon Stryker (respectively), gave a combined $210,000 - 200,000 of that from Stryker, who is not even a Golden State resident!
-And duh, of course we pitched in financially as well!
-Along with $2500 from a "Neil Harris" of West Hollywood, who identifies himself as a "self-employed prestidigitator"

We have our suspicions.
In Neil Patrick Harris' Out cover issue and accompanying interview, he says,
"I'm a magician at heart, so smoke and mirrors is great. The idea of smoke and mirrors tends to suggest suppression and the idea that you don't want people to know about who you really are, but as an actor you kind of do want people to not know who you really are. I think it was nice to have a bit of a smoke screen in a way."

Whatever happened with Separation of Church and State? All the people who back Prop 8 are all church goers. Im Catholic too, but i dont think we should take away anyone's right to marry. I only donated $50. But thats because im a full time student working a crappy part time job and thats all i can afford.
I haven't budgeted for a donation, but I've gone around my area and lifted Vote Yes on 8 signs from lawns. I have a stack and am at a loss of what to do with them other than recycle. Wish I were rollin' in it to support negating causes like this.

But if a gay person gets slighted then we all can go fuck ourselves because they want something, again ask the ACLU. My all time best friend of 41 years is gay and even he says marriage is for a man and a woman but we both agree that civil unions should be allowed. I do feel that 2 gay people who spend a life together deserve some protection and rights but marriage is for a man and a woman.
1st - you want us to donate, most of your posters have to worry whether to fill their tank or buy food. 2nd-what did you, someone who feels strongly about it, give. NOW, other than making people aware that this is on the ballot, I don't know what good throwing money to a group for this proposition is going to do other than increase the income of marketing firms . Running ads trying to sway people is not going to work. People have already formed an opinion on this topic. The people who feel that it is wrong or immoral for gays to be married are not going to change their minds no matter how many ads are on and on the other side, people who believe that gays have the right to marry or it is not their business are not likely to change that opinion either. So, what is this group going to do that they think will change some minds?

You see, originally our colonies had a large community building that was used for both government matters and for church services. The statement "separation of church and state" only meant that the two functions would not happen at the same time. Gee imagine that? But that statement has been warped to be the battle cry of the ignorant. Our founding fathers NEVER intended for god and religion to not have a part in our country or its government. For heavens sake that is why the left England in the first place, for religious freedom! Perhaps you should go back and study history again.
