He's 68 years old!
Former Beatle Ringo Starr proclaimed the following in a video on his personal website:
"Please do not send fan mail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it's gonna be tossed. I'm warning you with peace and love I have too much to do… No more fan mail and no objects to be signed. Nothing."
Is he trying to drive up the value of Ringo signed stuff out in the marketplace?
Was that public announcement really necessary?!
He's always been our least favorite Beatle anyway!

Meh, the man is not getting any younger, he may want to do something with the rest of his life other than signing autographs. I agree that he could have phrased it a little more diplomatically, but at least he gave a warning.
Most Z-list celebs actually charge for signing autographs. He has done it for the past 50 years for free. He's paid his dues, he should be able to live what life he has left in peace.
