Much More Twilight Coming!

There's no sunset on Twilight's horizon!
The film has not even been released and already, its fledgling studio - Summit Entertainment - is planning a sequel.
That's because they know they've got a hit with record-breaking soundtrack pre-sales on Amazon, exclusive merch snapped off shelves before even the first speck of dust can fall on it, and an internet trailer that's hit more than 3.5 million views in a mere 48 hours.
And, even though no one's said it out loud, the tweenie vampire movie, which can boast its own built in book fanbase, may have scared Harry Potter out of its fall release. The film's merch sales have already rivaled those of the lightnight bolt marked wizard.
The difference is that Twilight cost much less to produce than the bespectacled Harry Potter and a new studio with a potential new franchise on its hands is a phenomenon not often seen in Hollywood.
Without much money to spare, Summit had to turn to much more creative and efficient marketing schemes, a lot of which acknowedged and privileged the fans who made its already-success possible. This included a countdown clock widget and a trailer preview exclusive to fans.
So if all goes well, Summit's Twilight could lead to a sunny future.
Summit's already fucking things up, though, and many Twilight fansites tell us the bullying studio forced them to take the new trailer down from their sites.

not even kidding THIS MOVIE LOOKS LIKE TRASH. i hold the twilight series so close to my heart and to see hollywood ruin it like this is horrible. the acting is LOATHE worthy and they screwed up the plot. i'm angry that stephenie let this whole thing fly. and the studio's choice of bella?! PISH-POSH. kristen stewart?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! and the boy playing edward is trying to disguise his english accent..which isnt working. this was such a disappointment. =[
Come on Perez. Twilight did not scare Harry Potter off. Disney already made enough money this year with the Dark Knight, and they didn't want two big earners in one year, so they moved it back to next summer. You can't even compare Harry Potter to Twilight, thats blasphemy.

The acting is trash? Kristen Stewart is an amazing actress. Best of her generation in my mind. She is the perfect Bella with her porcelain skin and heart shaped face. She looks vulnarable yet strong.

Has anyone above the age of fourteen actually read the books? I read the first one and tried to read the second, and they are awful. It reads like a bad fanfiction. It's as if Stephanie Meyer went on fictionpress.net and stole all the ideas from the horrible vampire stories that litter that website. And the first one is nearly five hundred pages long and the actual plot doesn't kick in for four hundred pages! And when it does happen, it's all resolved in a chapter. Maybe J.K. Rowling should give Stephanie Meyer a lesson on how to produce a well written novel.

wowi'mawesome: I don't understand why fans feel the need to feed into the lame competition between Harry Potter and Twilight. I'm a fan of both. Stephenie Meyers is a huge fan of Jk ROwling and bows down to her greatness-there's no one like Rowling.
But does that mean no other stories can get some love? Twilight is not an epic story like Harry Potter-it's a more intimate story about two outsiders from two different worlds finding one another. Apples and oranges, trying to compare the two.

Anyone complaining about Kristen Stewart doesn't realize she's one of the most respected young actressses among her acting peers today. She gets high praise from the likes of Sean Penn, Jodie Foster, and Robert DeNiro.
So, please stop with trashing her acting skills. You sound completely ignorant. She will rock Bella's character perfectly-if you don't beileve me watch her in the Land of Women, where she plays a very bella like character effortlessly.

Can't wait to see this! Read all 4 books and the manuscript on the authors website in about a week…couldn't put them down. I hope they turn them all into movies. From what I have read online (take it for what it is) the director kept as much to the book as possible…the plot is the same and while there are a few differences they aren't plot changing.

I agree. I read the first one and found it to be quite an insult to my intelligence. Anyone with an imagination could have written that stuff. I'm glad kids are reading it but there really isn't anything intellectual or insightful or meaningful in it.
I have read all 4 books. I was totally addicted to them. I'm 32 and I can't wait to see the movie. I hope they make all 4 into films, If not, i'll be very disappointed.
the movies are never as good as the books…and there is no way that this will be an exception…the twilight series is def. the best series that i have ever read, not that my two cents is worth anything…but it will be hard to top in theatres regardless…and the guy that they have playing edward is already one strike against the movie…yuck!!

Oh, Perez, you silly! HP is the highest grossing film series of all time- with seven books and 8 movies, you've got to be kidding with the "scared HP out of a Fall release" thing, right? Last time I checked, Harry Potter is actually getting its very own theme park! Now I'm sure the Twilight series has a major fan base, but lets not get it twisted- HP was pulled because of the writers strike messing up production of movies coming out next summer, and with The Dark Knight being a HUGE cash cow this summer, HP was held back because its guarenteed money for next Summer, where they don't have a huge movie coming out. Twilight, seeing an opportunity to bank on Potters pushback, moved up their release, in a brilliant move to take over the slow winter movie market. Nothing more, nothing less.

No matter what anyone else says, I'm extremely excited to see the movie. Even though Kristen Stewart is the most spectacular actress on the planet, she has done some really, really good movies and I think this one will be added to the list. I'm hoping and expecting the best, but there is a little voce inside me telling me there is a slight chance it wont be as great as I want it to be. I'm not as excited to see The Half Blood Prince as I am Twilight. But I'll probaly end up buying both on DVD and watching them a trillion times each

I truly think this movie will do the books justice. Stephanie Meyeris my favorite author, and remains to be. The actors and actresses for this movie fit in my imagination perfectly. The trailer was spectaular, and I am glad they are speeding up the movies, because the longer they wait, the more the actors and actresses will change, and all true Twilight fans should know:Vampires don't age. So, if they put out the whole series, then they better do it quick. Edward dazzles me everytime I see him. And personally, I've read the Harry Potter series, and don't much care for it. I think that Twilight would knock them off the shelves in a mere second. It's like Stephanie said before in a previous interview " A good story shouldn't be dragged out for dozens of books " as the H.P books were.
So disappointed. Don't draw on the pretty, Perez. Respect the vamp.
