    Beautiful! What a statement!

  3. 3

    FUCKING GAY!

  4. 4

Thats nice and all but gay shit shouldn't be taught in school. It's my personal belief so if you don't agree i don't care.

  5. 5

i still will donate for my avatar p-nasty.
    think about it.

  6. 6

    now i'm confused…yes means no??

  7. 7

how about donating that money to our poor education system….

  9. 9

I am so happy at the steps being taken in California… and thats an amazing message.

  10. 10

    FRESH AND GAY!

    Re: mollymouse
Personally as a public school youth from not that long ago i found there was missing money all over… nothing a million$ would actually cover in my tiny state nevermind California. It would be lovely but truely id rather fo9r tolerance being present… its just a more positive enviorment.

  12. 12

Beautiful…to bad it was at the cost of my job as a CA teacher. I thought there was no $$$ in our budget??? I'm confused…but happy for prop 8…

  13. 13

It is NOT the teacher's job to teach tolerance. It is not the schools job to protect homo's. School is NOT the place to "make a statement" about your fagness. It is a place for an education PERIOD. And not an education on how to suck a dick. Be as gay as you want……I don't care. I also don't want to know about it. I do not go around getting in peoples faces that I am hetro…why should we be forced to look the other way when some asshole decides he needs to flame so everyone will know he likes it in the ass?? If you are stupid enough to come to school with your rainbow shirts and end up getting your ass kicked, don't act surprised. Why do you feel the need to tell the world your are a fag?? News flash….THE WORLD DOES NOT CARE.

  14. 14

i am all for defeating prop 8 but the education system REALLY needs that money. and isn't california having budget problems? why not give the million dollars back to the teachers… they need it. BUT PLEASE KEEP THE PRIVATE DONATIONS COMING!

I'm a teacher in SF and I hear children concerned about this Prop 8. Many of my students come from homes with 2 fathers or Mothers. They see it as normal and other children don't even think about the differences because "Acceptance and Tolerance" is taught in my school. Not just about Gay People but of ALL PEOPLE!

  16. 16

See, this is the problem with Prop 8. I was going to vote no on Prop 8. I have no problems with gay people getting married. My problem is that it should not be taught in PUBLIC schools. No marriage issue should be taught in Public schools. How do you think that kid who comes from a one parent family home whose parents were never married feels when marriage is talked about? He is probably made to feel like crap. Well, nowadays one parent families are more the norm than not. I talk very openly with my children. I tell them that gays are no different than everyone else. Just because someone is gay does not make them a criminal, a pedophile, etc. But I do NOT believe that this an issue that should be pushed in schools. Yes, teach tolerance, whether it's about race or sexual orientation, but do not push marriage, whether gay or straight marriage, on children. So, I am voting yes on Prop 8 for that reason, not because I believe that gays should not be allowed to be married, but I do not believe that it should become part of the curriculum. marriage is something that should be discussed in the home, not school.

  17. 17

YES!!!! It's about time someone really stepped up!!!

    Re: bite me
I hope you never have children. The world needs a lot of growing up to do. You can't call yourself a good person if you despise another kind. I'm sure sooner or later our world will become more progressive but it will take time. Fear stops you from loving so shut your mouth with wicked lies.

  19. 19

There was an article online that talked about a teacher at a charter school in SF who took her students on a field trip to city hall to witness her marrying her partner. This is SO wrong! I'm sure parents had to sign permission slips and all, but still…Would a teacher do that in a straight relationship? Honestly, if my child were in that school, I would remove them immediately.

  20. 20

I love that I'm reading this and there's an ad for Yes on 8 right below. Are you letting the enemy advertise on your page Perez?

  21. 21

This money should go to helping teachers get supplies or something. I would vote No on the prop, but it shouldn't be in the schools like this. Tolerance needs to be taught at home, not in the schools.

  22. 22

    Re: devil_dawg_wife

It isn't going to be taught in public schools. That is just a scare tactic by the right wing.

    From NoOnProp8.com:

    Here’s what’s fiction and what’s fact:

Fiction: Teaching children about same-sex marriage will happen here unless we pass Prop 8.

Fact: Not one word in Prop 8 mentions education, and no child can be forced, against the will of their parents, to be taught anything about health and family issues at school. California law prohibits it, and the Yes on 8 campaign knows they are lying. Sacramento Superior Court Judge Timothy Frawley has already ruled that this claim by Prop 8 proponents is “false and misleading.”

People, please educate yourself fully before voting.

    Re: devil_dawg_wife

I'm a public school teacher and it will NOT BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL. Will it be addressed if a child asks why "Jonny has 2 father's or Lisa 2 mothers". Yes will let them know just how not too long ago children asked "Why one student is Black , Asian, and why one student has A black Mother and White father Vice Versa, or why Stephanie and parents were Divorcing or Separated.( which has a more negative effect on children )". Teachers can only educate children by reading a book or reading them a book about "Mutual Respect".. they don't need the specific's like why you need to.. They understand and honestly children don't pick up on this kind of stuff like say Middle School students or High School. At that grade level what they should be learning about is Sexual Reproduction to decrease the statistic's on Teen pregnancy and STDS. I think it's about diplomacy .

  25. 25

Exactly why I put my kid in private school.

  26. 26

    Re: mamajud

The prop is about the approval to ban gay marriage.
Voting no means that gay marriage is not constitutionally banned in CA

  27. 27

I'm against prop 8, but that money needs to go to the schools.

  28. 28

    Re: bite me

gay or straight, no one is being taught how to suck anything- unless it's an elective. I don't know how California works, but unless they are really openminded.

Gay marriage will not be taught in schools. It isn't now, and it probably won't change after this prop is over, no matter if it's voted down or not.

  29. 29

GREAT!!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO MARRY MY BOYFRIEND ONE DAY

  30. 30

    Re: devil_dawg_wife

Where does it say in the prop that it will be taught to children?

Yes 8 campaigns are saying that to scare you into voting yes.

  31. 31

    Re: devil_dawg_wife

My teacher did. She was straight. She wanted to share the happiest day of her life with her.

  34. 34

In primary school we told that its ok to be gay and in secondary school nobody had a problem with people being gay.

People over here (Europe) are genarly shock on how people are handling the situation!

  35. 35

I never wanna hear them bitch they don't make enough money, then. If they can spare a million bucks, they're making enough.

That shouldn't be allowed. Teachers associations don't belong in politics.

Re: cfreez – it's not money from the budget moron.

  44. 44

Too bad the teachers in AZ are too poor to fight Prop 102. Our schools can't afford footballs, books, or even hot water. Yet, Prop 102 raised over 7 MILLION dollars……..now THAT'S investing in our future. Money well spent, 'eh?

  45. 45

Re: coco – thank you for the following. I really appreciate your answer. I am so sick of hearing how much better private schools are.

If only they could manage to teach Math and English as well as they teach tolerance. Highest paid teaches in the country = worst schools in the country. It doesn't make sense.
