Here's the deal. Ripped jeans are very cool - when they happen to rip on their own after years of use and abuse. When people try to distress and rip their own jeans, it's just tragic. And a rather interesting parallel to their inauthentic selves. She's just trying too hard to be cool, bless her heart.
