Too Cool for a Hollywood Star

Filed under: Anglophilia > Music Minute

Humble pie!

According to reports, a life-long fan of Led Zeppelin wrote to each surviving band member to request permission to nominate them for a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Guitarist Jimmy Page , though, "kindly" pressed the fan not to proceed with the idea.

Page's mouthpiece reportedly said, "He (Page) has asked me to thank you for this interest but he does not feel that this is something that he can endorse."

We can see the legendary rocker not wanting to deal with the cheesetasticness that goes around getting a star.

But, we'd adore it!

Yezzir! The ode to skinny long-haired rockers MUST have a star.

I'm the biggest Led Zeppelin fan that has ever walked the face of the earth. Love them. What few people know is that they would not allow themselves to be filmed or interviewed. The only authorized filmed concert in the 70's was "The Song Remains the Same" in 1973 at Madison Square Gardens. If you really love Lep, all you have to do it go to You Tube and type in their search engine> Led Zeppelin 1973> and you will bring up a whole wealth of treasure clips from their epic performance.

It's a waste of money for some meaningless token. Led Zeppelin would have to pay whatever the cost is for the star (I think it's a couple of hundred thousand or whatever) and then for its upkeep. Not that they're hard up for cash or anything, but why spend it frivilously on something with so little significance?

I didn't realise they had to pay for it too.. what a crock..

sure, page spent a lot of time partying in LA with the rest of zep, but if he doesn't want it, don't force it.

I'm sure the Zep could afford to buy the entire Hollywood Walk of Fame, rename all the stars to songs they wrote, and relocate the HWF to England.

Joy is leaving now. She said it’s ok to call her Monday morning to fix this. My guess is that the printer information has to get cleared out of the check form.

Yes. That and Pink Floyd's David Gilmore donating a huge building for a hospital. So freaking cool.

jimi is an "Officer of the Order of the British Empire". in other words he can sign jimi page, OBE. why would he want a star when he is honored with the OBE?
