Quote Of The Day

| Filed under: Quote of the DayMark Wahlberg

"I go to church and people ask me if they can be on Entourage, what’s gonna happen. I go to church to worship, I don’t go to church to talk about it. The stuff that I did with my entourage back in the day is stuff that I’m not proud of and I’m asking forgiveness for; I don’t want things brought up in church, but, if you go to church in Beverly Hills, those kind of things happen. I get scripts, resumes, books - people tried to come up to me with a children’s book before and I wouldn’t take it. They got upset with me. This is church."

- Mark Wahlberg, on praising Jesus

Jesus H. Christ, Marky. Get friggin' Father Flannery outta yo' ass an lighten up!

  4. 4

its good he goes to church really to pray and stuff, not just to pose like other celebs do

  5. 5

Love how he played with Jimmy. Ps Perezzy you are looking awesome these days !

  6. 6

  7. 7

I agree. You go to church to worship.

  8. 8

Aww, brainless isn't he. Is he still a homophobe as well?

  9. 9

One of the many prices to pay with fame!! Just let it ride off you!

Get to myspace and check out Tamayu's music

  10. 10

Oh that's funny because of the scene he made on Leno or Letterman or whoever the other night.

  11. 11

    Amen, Mark!

  12. 12

eww…what an ugly SOB. Get over the fact that some people dont want to hear shit from you hasbeen.

On one hand, I don't blame him for being annoyed. On the other hand, what does he expect when he goes to a "Hollywood" church? I don't think he'd be having that issue if he went to church in Boston.

  15. 15

I agree with him? Leave him the fuck alone people! He is after all…just a person like you and me

  16. 16

I hope he is in church to pray for his career. JUDAS!

  17. 17

I do not think he is being unreasonable at all. Church is a time to worship and not a time to be bothered. Yes he chose to deal with people being like this since he chose to be famous but that does not make it right for people to bother him at church. I go to a church where Chad Michael Murray sometimes goes with his fiance and everyone there leaves him alone. It is called respect.

  18. 18

Re: Leona$ Gho$t – Hey LG! I went to see "W" last night. Talk about stupid, our boy George take the prize.

  19. 19

well good for him!it's nice to hear that a rich and famous actor,a former sex symbol acknowledges his mistakes and now he's turning to God and goes to church.Perez u may be an atheist but millions of people turn to God and church to find peace and happiness in their lives.I'm really glad for Mark.

  20. 20

His publicist needs to put a muzzle on him.

  21. 21

I'm glad you're not as douchy as I thought, Marky Mark.

  22. 22

I agree…wait till he's in the parking lot people!

  23. 23

Wow, what a hypocrite. I mean he acts as if he is super holy yet, he has 3 kids out of wedlock.. um.. yeah.

  24. 24

Most of the comments on here are disgusting. It's one thing to have your opinion on his career, but leave his personal ethical, moral and religious views out of it. He says he wants to worship God (who was nice enough to die on a cross for unbelieving/unthankful people like you so that you may be saved) and ask for forgiveness and not be interrupted for that one whole hour. If people want to give him their "make me rich" crap, save it for another time.

Soon hes not gonna have an acting career if he keeps bashing his former alter ego. People don't like watching eccentric christians on screen!

He just needs to realize that he had a hand in creating one of the funniest parodies EVER. now if he'd stop trying to be Leo D. and do some comedies, people would love him

  27. 27

He DOES hve a point there. Did he already tell his ANIMAL friends?

  28. 28

He's so full of it. If he's so ashamed of the things he did in his past and truly wants forgiveness, he wouldn't be making money off of those "sins".

Entourage jumped the shark at the end of the second season, he's just lucky the Sunday night TV lineup sucks right now.

  29. 29

Oh, and he's also really lucky Piven's cokey overacting keeps winning Emmys.

  30. 30

He's fucking right. What is so wrong about the quote?

  31. 31

    Awww…I love him!

  32. 32

Turning to God does not make him a hypocrite. People always want to bring up the past but all that matters is his relationship with God. People need to buzz off. And why do some guys think the church is the place to approach women for dates? Some people go to church to worship God and don't want to be bothered. If they wanted to be bothered with worldly stuff they would go to a friggin nightclub. :)

  33. 33

    he's so full of himself

  34. 34

good for him. im not a christian, or claim any religion, but the church is supposed to be a safe haven and for him its a haven from work and a place where he can repent and keep himself in check. now there are people compromising that for him

  35. 35

Im sorry but you dont have to be such a dick mark!!!!!!!!!

    i dont like him.

  36. 36

church,smurch..without sounding irreverent, handing out to the church's kitty and snubbing a homeless person in the street doesn't add up on the righteous scale. then again, maybe he does

  37. 37

This guy is lucky to be famous - and famous as an actor?!!!!! I watched The Happening last night, awful, awful, awful, and a lot of it was down to not giving a shit about him or his loved ones. Not an actor between them. That and the fact that he is devoid of a sense of humour. Honestly, the jIMMY KIMMELL show set the record straight where this one is concerned, a total asshole.

  38. mdchi says – reply to this

he's such a jerk. why doesn't he remember what it was like when he was trying to make it just like his fellow church goers are. if he doesn't want it- MOVE. It's the worst things when celbs complain about being celebs in Hollywood. What do you expect?

  39. 39

Would a good Christian talk about punching a Jewish guy in the "big f***king nose"?????????????????????????????????????? This guy is a hypocrite.

  40. 40

Re: XXX459 – It was a joke. Did you not see SNL?? The guy was joking.

  41. edtor says – reply to this

Amen, I'm not mad at you.. This begs the age old question: Is anything sacred?

  42. edtor says – reply to this

    Re: XXX459
Please don't look for shit where there is none. Lot's of Christians I know have big fucking noses. I am sure that every single religion has members with big noses. So don't start any ethnic crap…..

  43. 43

There is not one word of Wahlberg's statement that he needs to change. I see that he is humble, I see that he is contrite about past mistakes ("stuff that I’m not proud of and I’m asking forgiveness for") I see that he is resigned to, maybe even forgiving of things that Hollywood careerists do in a place of worship when he says, "I don’t want things brought up in church, but, if you go to church in Beverly Hills, those kind of things happen."

Those of you saying he needs to relax, I see a relaxed man in these words.

Those of you suggesting he is not so smart, I see a smart man.

I'm not religious but when I see a man look back at his own life and see that it could have been better, that he is not trapped in the faults of his past and can do better in the future, that is not a dumb man.

  44. 44

His face still says: I give BJs for 10 bucks!!!

  45. 45

Re: MP – actually he probably would have an even bigger problem avoiding people if he went to church in boston…..that's where he's from and EVERYONE around here knows who he is.

  46. 46

    i looooove entourage.
but yeah, i agree with his statement.

  47. 47

Allright - now just marry your (3-time) baby mamma to get right with God honey.

  48. 48

Didn't he diss Liv Tyler because she was too young for him on MTV once upon a time, unless that was for show and he really did do her. Everyone knew him as an asshole anyway. He forgot that he was an immature kid and lived his life. Now he's grown and making better choices but don't act holier than thou and turn your nose up.

  49. 49

WTF! I mean. Marky Mark sure is taking himself seriously these days. Now that he is extremely successful in ways he only dreamed of be4, he is so full of himself I can smell it a mile away. Wha happened Marky? You squirt out some kids, get ready to marry your babymama, then u put your crib up for sale so u can get a bigger one. You lost me when you dissed George Clooney. Mark Wahlberg is moving farther and farther to the Right. I think he figures that because he was a real wild ass, he wants to be a serious father and over compensate with a phoney, "good example" for his kids. He is beginning to take on the colorations of a Mel Gibson type. Very rigid. Don't go there Marky. Just be yourself, love your kids, and let them be themselves. Bet his kids turn out to be asses…when they grow up. I do enjoy his movies tho. Even the crap ones.

  50. 50

I LOVE this guy. But I will say…I just watched The Happening and it was quite possibly the WORST movie I've seen in quite some time. And I see a lot of bad movies. Choose wisely, Mark.

  51. 51

Cry me a river, Wah Wah Wahlberg.

  52. 52

That's just sad. What is wrong with people today?

  55. 55

Well thats true, people are shameless!

  56. 56

I see some people on here saying that since he is famous he should expect it and just deal, oh, no big deal. Of course being famous calls for one to deal with fans and idiots out in public, and they will. But in church, when someone steps within your comfort zone, where you expect to be left alone simple because it is church and not business, it doesn't matter who. you. are.

  57. 57

he seems like a major sourpuss

    he should grow up

  58. 58

pray at home and go to church knowing people are desparate and see you as hope- that's what your choice is so live with it and if it's so bad start your own church like Gibson- or stay home like jesus said-your body is your temple and god is everywhere and listening and can be found everywhere not just in a beverly hills church–

  59. 59

Sad but true. People go to church to network.

  60. 60

Re: musiclvr224 – Finally someone else gets it. :)

Church is church. Come on, people, he's not doing it for show. Some of us still like being the religious type. That's innappropriate and downright rude to do that to someone while they're trying to practice their religious devotions.

  61. 61

It's awesome that he goes to church - people are so oddly nervous about it - like "I'm not PC any more because I go to church!" How bizarre that people ask to be on Entourage though. Good grief.

  62. D-Bag says – reply to this

Oh yes you are sooooo important in Hollywood Marky Mark. Go back to "rapping" and modeling you poser.

  63. 63

HE is really coming off as a total jerk off lately. Didn't realize…but he obviously has let Hollywood go to his head. HE must be JOHNNY on the show!

  64. 64

he should come to my churchh!! its right outside of LA :)

  65. ReRe says – reply to this

OMG! Is he really that stupid?

Um, you love the money from Entourage, don't you asshole?

Yes, go pretend to pray so everyone will think highly of you …

  66. cmd08 says – reply to this

I agree with him and I'm glad he came out about that, maybe people will see it and stop doing that crap. People talking bad about him obviously aren't Christians or you would completely understand.

  67. 67

Fuck church!!! and fuck this asshole that i used to like before i realized he is a pea-brain.

  68. 68

i kinda agree with him here…church is for worship..now after service, during fellowship outside and in the lobby well thats a diff story..i just hope he was not rude and nasty to those who did get up the courage to approach him. he was still in fathers house, and ugly does not fly there.

  69. 69

I love you Mark, but I just can't get the idea of you going to church. I CANNOT.
