Andrew Lloyd Webber Recruited to Help the Brits Win
Filed under: Reality Television > Anglophilia
Musical theater golden man, Andrew Lloyd Webber, is set to compose Britain's entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
Last year, the UK sucked ass and came in last!
Here's what Sir Andrew had to say about this challenge to whip up a super good song:
"In my life I've never shied away from the impossible and this looks like the biggest mission impossible of all time."
Good luck!

GAY!
GAYER!
that guy needs a life if some gay song contest is the biggest mission impossible of his life.
Wait a minute, that's kinda strange. They had Katie Price one year, now they are pulling in a legend? Even his ex, Sarah Brightman is amazing. There's something fishy about this.
Gayer than a handbag full of rainbows.
can we talk about teeth?
um,
gayer than
4th of july
at FIRE ISLAND………
Haha, ouch, Andrew Lloyd! Harsh quote.
It'll take more than an amazing song. Stop ganging up on Britain, Eurobastards! But seriously, I'm pretty sure it's something we don't care about coming last at. It's truly gay.
uh, fresh???
Re: wanna milk me?? – teeth; lol. i loves it.
Don't think he can help. UK got so many good bands and artists and they always end up sending an unknown nothing to ESC. That is partly because of how they pick their winner. They let one artist sing 8 or 10 different songs and people vote for the best song. The artist is then sent to ESC with the winning song. Most other nations let several different artist participate in the national finale.
the song doesn't matter but in Eurovision nobody likes UK ,every year they are on the bottom ,this year's song was great
UK was good this year, actually. Eurovision voting is notoriously political, with countrys voting for other "friend" countries. Like the US, these smaller countries often don't vote for the UK as they resent the UK.
isn't a bit ironic that he looks more and more like the phantom of the opera without his mask??

NO to HATE. NO on 8
Los Angeles Times
"By banning same-sex marriages, Prop. 8 would create second-class citizens."
The San Diego Union Tribune
"No on Prop. 8. Gay marriage right should not be repealed."
The Napa Valley Register
"Vote no on Proposition 8. In our view, Proposition 8 is a misguided and unconstitutional proposal. We urge voters to reject Proposition 8."
Redding-Record Searchlight
"Same-sex vows cause no harm to our families. The reasons given for Proposition 8 just don't stand up to scrutiny."
The Bakersfield Californian
"Californians need to move beyond the divisiveness that Prop. 8 has engendered and embrace tolerance and reconciliation. Live and let live."
Our opposition has a war chest of millions of dollars, and we must match them dollar for dollar. Every dollar counts, so please contribute today and again in the coming weeks. Backers of Prop. 8 raised $24.3 million as of the end of September. WE have only raised $15.4 million. WE are seriously underfunded.

Eurovish is so political, countries vote for the countries joined onto them,
And we're an island :[
They should make it anonymous or something, I dunno
Leave my eurovision alone. I do love eurovision, and I've watched it every year since I was old enough to realise what I was watching. It's just one night where I can sit in front of my TV, and honestly, have a laugh.
The fact is, that we'll never win. Even I just pick the funniest country and vote for those.
We could send Leona Lewis, and still not win!
I don't know why they don't pull out of it. Along with only a few other countries, Britain contribute more cash to the ESC and never get anywhere in it because of the baltic countries block voting. For gods sake we're in a pickle financially, who cares if ALW writes for the song. Save the tax payers money for something else
With the re-introduction of a voting Jury, this can only help countries like Ireland, UK, France etc who don't get block voting from other countries. However, it will be a mix of viewer votes and jury votes, but it's better than just being viewer votes !! See below:
"Media outlets across Europe reported on the re-introduction of national juries in the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. On Sunday (Sept 13), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced that a mix between televoting and national jury votes will determine the outcome of the Final in 2009.
The story about the re-introduction of national juries in the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest made headlines in several countries, such as the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Estonia and Germany. Fan sites covering the contest reported on the change within minutes after Eurovision.tv made the official announcement, providing fans a platform to discuss the impact of jury involvement"
Re: british bird – absolutely - we don't have a hope with the baltic voting! I also agree that this years one was great - Andy did a good job.
The Eurovision used to be so fun - a proper night of cheese where we'd all sit watching and vote for the funnest, catchiest song.
Now its all political bollocks - England wouldnt win if we reproduced ABBA because everyone hates us now (and maybe they are well within there rights!) Guaranteed we get a couple points from Ireland and Malta and thats all folks.
In this time of economoic pressure, misery and turmoil, where kids will get and orange and a lump of coal for christmas (and if only that was the case - but parents will just get themselves more into debt instead) I say we should have fun at the Eurovision Song Contest - vote for the best!!
how low can someone get?wonder how much they paid him.eurovision is the most GAY GAY GAY contest and the most people who compete are the epitome of bad taste.here in Greece we only see it to laugh at them.
WHO CARES! WHATS WITH ALL THE BRIT NEWS..WHO CARES
americans sure dont understand eurovision………………
ill enlighten you all, the UK actually has won 5 times, the reason its always near the bottom in recent years (along with the rest of western europe) is because of eastern european political voting!
example: nations where russian culture and language are dominant vote for russia.
the reason we send bogus acts is because it isnt considered a contest anymore, just a joke to laugh at and sing along too
two words:
block voting
and btw this was news two weeks ago
