Expect the holiday season to be extra glum around the workplace this holiday season!
As there seems to be no end in sight to the current financial crisis, many big companies are canceling their holiday parties.
Makes sense, no?
You'll just have to bring some spiked eggnog to lunch one day and get all your coworkers drunk!

We still get our Christmas luncheon, but we're not getting bonuses OR salary increases this year.

some companies probably have to tighten up and are doing away with the more lavish parties. The workplace parties will probably still go on as usual. Wow, with all the tax breaks that the republicans are supposedly giving out to big business, you would think that all the country's companies could have their holiday parties as a spa like AIG.

WE USUALLY HAVE A 7 COURSE MEAL BANQUET/OPEN BAR/DANCE FLOOR ..THE WORKS….ILL BE LUCKY IF I GET CHRISTMASS EVE OFF THIS YEAR
yeh my company has cancelled ours, but considering there have been about 50 redundancys in the last week i think its appropriate. It hardly seems right to celebrate at a time like this. there is a dark cloud over the office right now and no one feels in the mood really….
They did this at my husband's work and it sucks! They also cut his extra time off at Christmas. He use to be off from Christmas to New Years Day. Now he only gets the 24th, 25th, and the 1st off.
My husband works for Dinsey and they are even canceling theirs!

I work for a multi-million dollar company and we don't get shit. No Bonus, no Christmas party, nothing. We all bring in dishes for a luncheon-we've done this for years. That's it. Our execs are in a different location and I bet they've been partying it up for years. This year, I hope they have to get treated to Long John Silvers-the cheap bastards.
I work in a small office of 7. We cancelled ours. What CNN going to broadcast we had one an no one else did?? Like the rest of you, I just want a bonus!

seems to me that the workplace should not be the place to conduct holidays of a religious nature anyway. I guess a New Year's party would be better, but really to think that the "Office Christams Party" is appropriate is simply christian values gone awry. America needs to keep the church out of everything and get back to the fundamentals our founding fathers set forth. Unfortunately our Christian values are causing a lot of our problems in the world and it is not what America is supposed to represent.
