By all means, let's make it easier for immigrants not to have to learn the predominant language of the country. Ever read about the Tower of Babel? Los Angeles is it. No two groups can communicate, no wonder they're killing each other. Even the idiot Governor (whose own English is questionable) says Spanish language media is retarding the progress of Latin American immigrants. If you don't educate yourself, you can't complain about being poor and stigmatized.

i agree with everyone else on here…. if you wish to live in this country. learn our language…not just enough to ask where the bathroom is or how much somethig costs….learn every single aspect of it. it should be a requirement to come in as a legal alien… that way, if you can't speak english, we know you're an illegal and can kick your ass out faster. also- here's a story for you- my roommate was in a mcdonald's a few years ago and this lady went into diabetic shock. her husband/boyfriend/whatever ran up to the counter yelling at the kid to give him an OJ to up the woman's glucose level. the kid just stared at him because "quick, give me OJ now, my wife is going into a diabetic coma" was not translated into spanish for him. The dude hopped the counter to grab the juice to get to the woman and the mexican behind the counter thought he was being robbed and ended up wrestling with the guy….someone finally translated what was going on for him….and the lady got her OJ before she went into full seizure mode….but come on. not only is it ignorant not to learn another country's language if you're not going to be here, it is dangerous for the reast of us and for the police, fireman, ambulance workers etc. that may need to save your life one day.
