Filed under: PolitikAuthorities in Jordan have arrested a local poet for releasing a book they consider to be insulting to Islam.
The writer was charged with harming the Islamic faith and violating the press and publication law for combining the sacred words of the Quran with sexual themes. Jordanian law bans the publication of any books or articles that could be seen as harmful to Islam and its Prophet Muhammad.
If convicted, the poet could face up to three years in jail.

I agree with MAGZ……I am a Muslim and would never even think about blowing anyone or anything up and I have lots of friends from other religions…the Quran does NOT teach hatred and evil…it teaches acceptance, understanding and peace! Radical Catholics and Christians spread just as much hate throughout the world (god forbid you are a homosexual, or un-patriotic, or want to hold the keys to your own womb) as any other religion when it is mangled by radicals. And judaism? And hinduism? Radical Hindus in certain parts of the world are currently terrorizing Christians and forcing them to convert. RELIGION isn't the issue, PEOPLE are the issue, and the violent Muslims of the world do not represent Muslims as a whole, just like the violent radicals of any religion don't. And it's also worth noting, Obama isn't a Muslim, he's a Christian. And if Americans have any hope for restoring their good name in this world, and not carrying on the mockery Bush has made of us, they'll vote Obama.

Nothing worse than speak about something that u don't know. I'm living in a muslim contry, Turkey, and they are absolutelly normal people. The problem is not the religion, the problem is the culture. Different cultures, different point of view about everything, even religion. Every muslim is diffrent in every different muslim country. No way to compare and no way to put them all in the same sack… It's not fair. And I'm not muslim…

I was so disappointed to read this post and all the comments made by people about this issue which they are obviously ignorant about. I was such a huge fan of this blog. Let me ask you a question: if someone insulted Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, or any other religion you might be, wouldn't you want that person to be held accountable for what they said? Wouldn’t you find it insulting? Well I definitely would. I am a Jordanian Arab Christian and if anyone insulted Jesus, the bible, or anything that has to do with my religion I would want that person to be punished. However, that wouldn't give me the right to publically insult a country on a website I know millions of people around the world read everyday. I would never go around insulting America or any other country. You guys would be privileged to live in a country such as mine.
Just because some of you have never left your country and just talk about the Arab countries from what you hear about them in the news, doesn't make you correct in anyway. We are not "rag heads" or "intolerant" or have no "balls". How about you go concentrate on your struggling and devastated economy before you waste your time insulting my country which has done nothing to you. If you think that it’s good you live in America and no where else, I feel sorry for you because you have not experienced the life we live here. Ask any American who has left America to live in the Middle East, they'll tell you the truth about the life here and how much better it is. I hope that any of you who have a close minded view of the Middle East get to experience our lives so you learn the truth about our cultures which are characterized by kindness, generosity, and openness.
