      I think I am going to vomit! I am a mom in California and I do not support Prop 8…..Mainly because I am tired of people telling me to vote for it, but really because this subject has already come up on a ballot and it was voted down, then 4 judges, believing that their opinions are more important than millions of other Californians, overturned the decision. I am for gay rights, but I am tired of having it shoved in my face. Do gay people really put all of their personal identity in who they get it on with? I have come to realize, through gay rights propaganda, that gay people have nothing more to offer the world than being gay.

      I guess then elderly couples are not married, they are in a civil union. So are those who don't want to have kids. Not all marriages result in offspring.
      I can see how you would say that though. In all fairness, when religious institutions started performing matrimonial rituals they asked for God's blessing. However, God did not invent marriage. Nor did the church for that matter. The concept of same- sex marriage is not a "new" thing. There have been same - sex marriages in history. Granted, not so much in the Western world, or in the last few centuries. To make this a little shorter- same-sex couples are not asking to be married in a church, nor will a church be penalized for not officiating a same - sex marriage ceremony.
      I for one will vote no. Because, who am I to deny a tax paying citizen the right to share their life with someone else? call it what you will. I'm not about to authorize anything that singles people out to be writen into California's constitution.

      Actually, I think there might just be as many mothers voting NO.
      I know two of them for sure will be. They all have Junior High School and High School aged kids. They have taught their kids that there are all kinds of people and it is okay to be different.
      I'm sure your kid (or kids) will grow up to think a lot like you. After all, you raised them. As I'm sure your thinking is pretty much in line with what your parents taught you. However, kids grow up and sometimes they develop their own ideas. They have their very own identities, and sometimes they are very opposite of what their parents want them to be. I'm not sure I could vote to have something writen into the state's constitution that could potentially be discriminatory towards my child.

      There will always be exceptions. Not all married man/women couples are able to have children. Or they are too old, etc. However, the purpose of our existence is to keep existing, i.e., procreation. Statistics have shown that homosexual parenting isn't good for a child. They are confused. Gays should be given the right to have a ceremony to show their love and have many benefits associated with marriage. Just not marriage!

      Btw, I was not talking about gay parents. The issue was marriage. However, since you brought it up I want to know where you got your information from. What statistics are these? who conducted these studies? You really can't say something unless you can back it up with research. Now shut ME up and tell me where you found these statistics, and who conducted said study.

They don't realise that their doctors, dentists, teachers and neighbours might be gay, they don't know that there is a world outside of their close-minded suburbs. On the most part I read decent educations, interesting ideas, fascinating concepts but not a lot of fairness or equality. It's interesting to know that in other countries homosexuality isn't the curse that first-world countries make it out to be. It's also interesting to know that marriage was a human-designed contract and there aren't a whole lot of people who strictly adhere to it. I think that if two people want to be together, want to devote themselves to one another, that should be possible and honoured. How is that going to hurt anyone? And Meliss, what did you mean by the only thing gays have to offer the world is being gay? Did you mean that? Who died and named you God? We are all equals in this life.
