"Not Guilty"
As we mentioned to you a few months ago, a man in Culver City, CA was accused of posting nine songs from Guns 'n' Roses' Chinese Democracy album online.
Kevin Cogill, a 27 year-old known online as "Skwerl", admitted to posting the songs when he was questioned by FBI agents.
But, this week, in federal court, Cogill has pleaded not guilty to illegally leaking the songs online.
What, did he forget what he admitted to the feds?
The affidavit submitted by federal agents in court today shows Cogill admitted to putting the nine tracks online on his site, though he didn't disclose how he managed to get the songs.
In order for a jury to find him guilty, they must "prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Cogill unlawfully disseminated the previously unreleased songs for profit."
If found guilty of the misdemeanor, he could face up to five years in a federal prison.
Damn. That's intense!

I know…i'm a mama to 1 and every egg I drop is one less chance my little guy will have to getting a brother or sister to beat the tar out of….
The key line in that sentence is "for profit". If he gave something away for free, and didn't pay for it, and it's not availebl for sale, he broke no laws.
If someone writes a book, gives me that book, and I give it to someone else, I'm breaking no laws.
