Obama's Grandmother Has A Broken Hip

Relatives of Barack Obama are now revealing that 85-year-old Madelyn Payne Dunham, his maternal grannie, recently broke her hip, has not been well for a long time, and that "she's unhappy with the condition that she's in."
So sad. It's what happens with very old age.
Madelyn's 86th birthday is this Sunday and most of the family is flying out to Hawaii to support and celebrate. Obama's sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, cares for their grandmother at her Honolulu apartment.
Obama's great uncle and Madelyn's brother, Charles Payne, said in a telephone interview that he had a "short and as upbeat as possible conversation" with Madelyn. He is also planning on visiting Hawaii.
They discussed family matters, but Charles declined to elaborate or comment on whether or not he thinks Madelyn will see the outcome of the November 4th election. He did say, however, "it's been terribly important to her."
This somehow adds a whole new element of suspense and urgency to the election!

I feel for his grandmother, my own grandmothers have had their share of serious health problems (One grandmother has since passed away).
The thing that stood out to me last night is that Obama stated this summer that he did not see his grandmother for nearly 2 YEARS!!!!!!
I realize he's been a bit tied up with the race, and senate, but he has no financial barriars to prevent him from a quick trip to see her.
That is unnacceptable in my book.
How many times has he been on the west coast in the past two years?
A plane ride over every few months, would have been appreciated by his only remaining grandparent.
His actions, or rather lack of actions speak volumes to me.
He placed his campaign, his election, his ego ahead of the needs of his family.
And after two years, he finally goes to her side.
A man who cannot tend to the needs of his family, cannot tend to the needs of this country.
(For those McCain haters who might bring up his ex wife, McCain has made sure every need is met and she is well taken care of. He still cares for her children that he adopted. That speaks volumes about his character. While he made a mistake, he still looked after her and her needs. Has Obama looked after his grandmother? I don't think so..)

The way Powell came to his choice was very similar to mine. After careful analyzation of the man, his VP choice and what I felt to be the most important issues. I do not believe in war but I don't think Obama will be able to solve that problem as quickly as I would want. But he will! McCain is war hungry and irrational. I would never vote for him based on that fact alone.

If these questions reflected reality,do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.
