Being gay is something that is not easy and you must be lucky to have parents that actually understand with open mind those type of choices. I count with those type of parents and never went through that trauma but I have seen it happening to many friends who were drove to live in torture and denial of their own instincts.

That said, I think that was a very touchy video. Very beautiful words. Being gay is not about choosing to be. It is something that you just happen to be and you will always suffer until you don't come to terms of acceptance with it. Understanding that there is nothing wrong in it. That you are OK just the way you are and in the way you are not. That's what is love about.

oh, harvey milk! I wish more people understood equality and the importance of hope. I wish the movie about him came out on Oct 12th, I think that would have been perfect. I am glad it's coming out now, I know it probably won't change the world but maybe it could change a few people… I hope.

I was in the 3rd grade when Milk and Moscone were murdered!
I lived in So. San Franncisco-Buri Buri Elementary school 1978.
I believe that Moscone's child or children attended or had attended the same school for a time.
It was the first I knew that there were gays and I remember being OUTRAGED @ 8 yrs old that there were people who could do such a thing because someone was different from them!
I've loved our gays from that first moment and remain OUTRAGED at the ignorance and hate that still circulates!
The "Twinky Defense" still makes me cringe with disgust!

Aww….that made me tear up when I saw that it was Harvey Milk. I read about his inspirational career and his tragic ending.
I was 8 years old living in the Bay Area when Harvey Milk & Mayor Moscone were killed by Dan White. Milk gave hope and changed the world forever, recognizable even to a child. When I leave SF I see the hate and want to come running back here where people really try to help one another. I really hope "Melissa is always right" is kidding as one day she may find her child in a suicide position thanks to her hate.

There is nothing like being able to talk to your family and being COMFORTABLE doing so…the fact that ANY person would EVER disown or "kick the shit out of" a child that is trying to tell you something SO major is just a sickening thought…especially when that person is your own flesh & blood!

And aren't we allowed to have our own beliefs just like those who do agree with gay marriage, just because someone doesn't agree with gay marriage doesn't mean they don't care about gays and lesbians! I don't agree with gay marriage, and it's a personal and also a religious thing. People have different religions, people believe different things. I would never say I hate a gay person, because I don't hate them, I happen to know alot of gay people and I love them alot. Its a lifestyle choice that some people don't agree with thats all.
