Drugmaker Merck & Co. said Wednesday it will cut 7,200 jobs as part of a new restructuring program that comes as its third-quarter profit plunged 28 percent.

      I thought Dems wanted the "big bad drug makers" to go under. Isn't this what you guys want - for big companies that hurt the "little guy" to go bankrupt… you know - get back at the big companies! Next you will be complaining that Walmart is laying off people or Mobil or something. Can't have it both ways, dems….

      Besides… all these big companies are getting ready to be taxed to hell by an Obama administration. Prepare for it to get worse if Obama gets elected. This is what the republicans are saying…. tax the big businesses, and the little guys get layed off. It will even be worse for small businesses - Obama's taxes and health care plan will put small businesses all over this country into bankruptcy…. you just watch.

      Well, i work at Merck and it was pretty scary today. Everyone was just sitting around waiting for the bad news. Luckily i still have my job (for now).

      So Sad. These drug companies bring life saving and add, uncountable, improvements to quality of life to many people.

      my daddy works at Merck, and they are moving their headquarters to Boston. He's staying with the company, so Boston here I come!

      I feel bad for their employees…but I'm glad to see the evil drug companies going DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!

      and sweetpiece- my family is very democratic and we aren't necessarily rich.

      wow. mercks main sections are in my hometown and about 80% of the people here are employed by them. tons of people are going to lose their jobs here. its so sad. and the worst part is that you guys are sitting here blaming democrats or republicans - its everyones problem! working together is the only way to fix it.
