After years of the same stodgy outfit, the Queen of England stepped out in a fierce new pair of boots, proving that it's never too late to take a fashion chance.

And succeed!

Although a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace says that the boots were more for function than fashion, as the Queen took a brisk walk through the Slovakian Tatra mountains on a three day tour of Slovakia and Slovenia this week.

The Queen Mum looked absolutely fabulous as she opened a hockey match, in a slim-fitting golden fur-trimmed coat, topped with a hat that defied her usual monochromatic wardrobe with a bright lavender feather.

Are you ready boots?

Start walking!

Ever see that film of her coming home after a 6 week? or month stretch gone and he RUNS to her for a hug and she backs off and rejects hims more or less and shakes his hand or something stupid (its been a while since I saw it but I will never forget the coldness. HE STILL has to make appointments to see his MOTHER. Im not on his side where Diana is concerned, but as a mother of a son myself, it KILLED me to see that. When YOUNG, people are idealistic and DO do things - she lost hers a long time ago. Wake up.

OR is that QUEEN for as in Eliz..not that E-1 was Queen once(title curtesy)(now)mum OF the Queen? I kinda always thought it was a past post title curtesy. So when Charles' Darling horseface becomes queen..well…Liz will be dead too(SHE herself has sad she isnt GIVING up the throne)…so who gets to be Queen Mum next?? No one for a long time I guess. DI would have eventually been when King Charles and she gave the throne to Prince William and his Queen…but sadly that won't happen…so it IS confusing. OR can be. she is a Queen and a Mum, tho' you'd hardly know it. If they werent such HARDASSES(esp abt Di) I wouldnt feel abt them the way I do, sorry.

Sorry IF Im wrong about her; but I don't think I am..too many others think the same thing; even DI felt it coming and wrote it and told her close friends before hand. Can't be much more obvious than that. She's head of the CHURCH and that's about it outside the palace. Hillary Clinton is a stronger woman that actually get things DONE to help people. Just to name ONE. Mother Theresa for two; Princess DI, my favorite; LOTS of stronger women than HER. She was molded, coldly just like Charles was. I guess I have to admit some sympathy for her on that front. She seemed a sweet young girl at one time. I would have LOVED to see Di and Charles make it, and be King and Queen. But noooooo oooo. He had to have Camilla…and now look - he's already unhappy. He couldnt see that coming.

MD- yes I know how she was brought up, just like Charles. I understand. Its no excuse. My dear friend had a murderer for a stepfather and an uneducated but very loveable mother that didnt do much for her & she succeeded in spite of all against her.Emily - I think in one of my posts I did say most of what you said, about the Queen Mum, not being one for a long time (DI would have been if they had a had a girl first to be in line right? Anyway I now get that better too. I knew that Elizabeth II's mother was the Q Mum..That doesnt confuse me, thanks. Did I insult you? NO. Not personally.

Something else ppl are confused on, and I never thought of it til this conversation -ppl refer to QMum as Queen Elizabeth I(First).Maybe that's just our mistake. MayB she wasnt called that ever in the business sense. But Wouldn't she really be Queen Consort? No number? Consorts dont get numbers right? Queen Mum Eliz was married to KING Geo VI, right? So she was a Queen Consort&when Geo died, his brother took over? But abdicated for the love of his life, cant think of her name..so why is QMum thought of as Queen Elizabeth 1? Does confusion come frm E2's "2" come from THE REAL QE-1 from history? I read article googled & THEY were confused on that ref to mum & E as QE 1&2 & how if Wm had dau name E, she'd become E III, if married an E she'd be Consort no numb. HOPE YOU CHK BK EMILY-S. I had NOT ever given that any thought because I sort of block out that consort thing. I dont know why I feel so strongly against that word..guess as I was growing up, got an impression somewhere that was not a good thing to be, I think it IS used in that way also, like..adultress or lover in a derrogatory way.(When ppl still were more caring abt marriage & monogamy than they are now.) It just seems to take something away from her. Not quite Queen… Well nice talking w/you guys about this. You MUST admit it CAN be confusing.
