NY Woman Found In Freezer Died Of Natural Causes
Police in upstate New York say an elderly woman whose body was found in her son's freezer died of cardiac arrest.
Investigators believe Herta Auslander's son, Roland Auslander, kept her body in the freezer for more than a year as he continued to collect her Social Security checks. An autopsy conducted Saturday at a Binghamton hospital confirmed she died of natural causes.
State police say they discovered the body Wednesday after her 70-year-old son's lawyer contacted them and said the woman had died in April 2007. They say the woman was born in August 1908, meaning she was 98 at the time of her death if the lawyer's account is accurate.
State Police Lt. James Barnes says the son is cooperating, and no charges had been filed against him as of Saturday afternoon.

It's so sad to see that people are so desperate for money nowadays, that they would turn to such desperate actions. Instead of giving his mother a decent burial when she died he resulted in placing his mother in a freezer to collect funds. Terrible.

I was once stuck in a freezer at work when some guy with a sawed off shotgun from Jacksonville came to our store [ Shoney's]
to rob us. Two bosses, me, a waitress, and the black dude, Sherman the cook. Guess who was more afraid? Sherman, the black dude and the dude that robbed us was black, hahahahaha.
It was fucking cold in there, my boss Maureen, was having asthma attacks. The cops fucking chased this dude to St. Augustine and he got out and ran and they shot him in the neck. He lived and him and accomplish is now currently in Stark Prison System.
My coworker is mildly retarded I think…not that there's anything wrong with that…except she whines about everything and gets lost in her own cube…

some people can't let go of their loved ones and keep them after their death. This does not sound like that though. The son himself was old enough to collect SSI -but felt he needed mommy's money/ He will be charged eventually-the government always wants their money back. He should be informed that when he dies, his body will too be placed in a freezer.
Ummm, charges need to be filed. He bilked the govt out of money that wasn't his, throw him in jail.
