Led Zep On the Road Again, But Minus Robert Plant?!

Led Zeppelin bassist, John Paul Jones, revealed to BBC radio that Led Zep will be hitting the road again, but without lead singer Robert Plant!
Jones said that Mr. Plant doesn't want anything to do with the tour and a search for a Plant stand-in is underway.
Would you see Led Zep without Robert Plant?

This is pathetic. Jimmy Page has been desperate to re-grasp his Led Zep success for decades now. He's dragged the Black Crowes around the country, playing his songs. He's whored himself out to Puff Daddy, and now this. If Mick Jagger hired all new musicians, and toured as "The Rolling Stones", nobody would buy into that. It would be "The Mick Jagger Project" (much like the current incarnation of Guns N Roses. This is no different. Without Plant, Page, JPJ, and preferably Jason Bonham, it's NOT Led Zeppelin.

With John Bonham dead and Robert Plant absent, the only two remaining members would be Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. And is JP Jones still with them? Either way, it wouldn't be worth the price of the ticket. Plant WAS Led Zeppelin.

those songs were written for a young man to sing. they are a lot of work, and plant lost his upper register years ago. no quarter unplugged proved that. i don't blame him.

Nope. Plant can't hit the high end anymore and Page can't play the intricate anymore. JPJ is still great to see in concert though. I saw him a few years back.

I saw Jimmy Page with the Black Crowes a few years back and it was soooo worth it. I've always been a huge Zepplin fan and would love to see Robert Plant tour with Jimmy again, but i'll still go see the show without Plant. I saw Robert Plant by himself about 6 years ago at a weekend rock festival and he was horrible. It was a sad, sad sight.
It wouldn't be at all like Nirvana without Cobain or Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, as those two artists were the masterminds of their bands. Although Plant might be the "voice" of Zepplin, he is not the one who wrote and "made" all of the songs, Page is. Either way, they won't tour as Zepplin. I saw Page with the Black Crows around 8 years ago and they were amazing, Chris Robinson did just as well as Plant ever did. I saw Robert Plant at a weekend rockfestival about 6 years ago and it was all around kind of a sad sight. And I've always been a big Zepplin fan.

Please….his vocals are crap and it detracts from the great music. Instrumental all the way…forget a replacement singer! If you are a true led zepplin fan, listen to the music, not the stupid vocals…so much music out today could go without a stupid vocalist, it's maddening!
No, Plant's vocals are such an important part of Zep that I doubt any "stand-in" could come close. Also thought Page looked pretty pathetic at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics with Leona Lewis … he needs his Buddy!

Zep without Plant?? Sure - and the Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger, Santana without Carlos, Police without Sting, Aerosmith without Steven Tyler and on an on. No Plant - no Zep.
Eff this, I wouldn't see them with or without Robert Plant. I got dragged to see The Who recently and Roger Daughtry sounds like an OLD FRIGGIN MAN TRYING TO SING….it was so bad…honestly he sounded like Kathryn Hepburn when her voice was all shakey. I ended up leaving WAY before the concert was over. These old guys sound really good when they recorded in their prime….and listening to a cd is alot cheaper and more convenient.
Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, the two surviving original Led Zep members (aside from Plant), are first and foremost MUSICIANS. Let's not forget that fact. They have dedicated their lives to making music, and if they want to go out and perform, then they have every right to. Just because Robert Plant doesn't want to join them doesn't mean they should stop pursuing their passions altogether.
My guess is they'll do what Heaven and Hell did. And Perez, I know you don't know who Heaven and Hell are, so let me briefly explain: Black Sabbath has been making new music and touring with Ronnie James Dio, and since Ozzy Osbourne is no longer in the band, they no longer call themselves Black Sabbath. It's a simple concept.
Let musicians make music. If you don't want to see them, then don't. There are millions of people worldwide who do.

He is currently the lead singer for Alter Bridge and in the past was the singer for The Mayfield Four. I would pay to see him sing Led Zeppelin tunes any day!

If I had to pick one that you couldn't do without in Led Zep it would be Page. Robert seems to be having too much of a good time with Alison Krauss at the moment and maybe his vocals won't take the tour. They just better make a good choice for a replacement.
