More fallout from the credit crisis!!!

American Express announced Thursday that they are going to be laying off 7,000 workers! That's 10% of its global workforce.

Times will continue to get worse before they get better!

      …before I started my business I didn't have a lot of money and American Express was downright nasty to me. Now they call about every 5 months to peddle their business since I accept credit Cards at this stage, and I tell them nope. They treated a lot of people this way from what I hear and it is coming back to roost. "I Believe You" when you say that…well, I don't actually believe you anymore fuckers…but best of luck to the ones losing their jobs…

      ugh. perez. i hope you read this. i don't know what "good" you are doing by announcing layoffs on a continual basis. in fact, i think you are harming the general public who reads your blog by promoting and instilling fear in them about the economy–which in turn, as you know, only makes matters worse. i don't know if you care because your such a "celebrity" now but i've been reading your blog for a long time and i don't want to come on here and see things that will make me feel scared or worried. if that is your intention, then cheers i guess, but really, please stick to entertainment because that is what we come here for

      Believe it or not, this is a good thing. These companies were bloated and needed to purge. These are good signs and Wall St will notice. It sucks for the people losing their jobs but those jobs were the product of over-indulgence by the consumer and the companies themselves. Lean times produce lean business which produces better bottom lines which is good for Wall St. Don't get caught up in the doom and gloom.

      Amex use to be exclusive. Their mistake was extending credit lines to unreliable individuals……serves them right.

      If Barack Obama is elected, they will be laying off even more employees because all these company's taxes are going to be raised. More money going to taxes + less money for employees = more employees getting laid off.

      Happy Holidays to 7,000 more workers! People are hesitant to call what we're experiencing a "recession"; perhaps a more appropriate term would be "depression".

      I worked for AMEX for 2 years as a Customer Care Professional. I took calls from Platinum Cardmembers. Let me tell you…IT WAS HELL!!!! explaining to these people that they couldnt charge their regular $10,000 a day or so when AMEX started cutting their spend. BTW, Im happy to Not be working their anymore.

      Maybe they wouldn't have to lay off their employees if they didn't spend OBSCENE amounts of money for celebrity advertising. It is over the top. Amex is the leader in corporate card programs, they just got too stingy and now the poor employees must suffer. Jerks!

      Hey they screwed themselves, the banks, lenders, credit card people and now they should pay the piper, and by that I mean their CEO's shouldn't be banking millions and going on retreats.
