You know they were probably paid a shit load of money to do this!
The Beatles music will be featured in the video game Rock Band.
According to a statement announced today, Thursday, the game is scheduled to make its debut sometime next year.
Sir Paul McCartney said, "The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music. I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out."
Ringo "I'm too good for my fans" Starr added, "The Beatles continue to evolve with the passing of time and how wonderful that The Beatles' legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerized world we live in. Let the games commence."
If they really want to connect with new fans then why don't they put their music on iTunes?!?

With the succes of the videogame Rock Band, I think this is a great idea to appeal to today's youth. It's an excellent way to introduce The Beatles' music to a young contemporary audience. Some music these days are crap. I love it when I hear young kids sing along to lyrics from the Beatles or whatnot.

Perez…. they won't put their music on iTunes because they're at war, or were at war, with Apple over who owns the Apple name. The Beatles do, of course, because they created their record label, Apple, in the 60s.

First of all this isn't Rock Band. It's going to be made by the folks who made Rock Band but it will be a seperate entity entirely. Basically the same type of game as Rock Band but it won't be labeled as such. Details are slim at this point as to what the game will be. like.
Also stop bitching about Michael Jackson. He owns a few Beatles songs. Apple Corp. owns most of 'em.

Maybe because Michael Jackson bought the rights to ALL the songs of the Beatles; he out bidded McCartney, thus all the Beatles' song we hear now for ads are because of MJ. So, even if the Beatles wanted to put their songs on iTunes, they couldn't - they don't have the legal right.

The Beatles catalogue is owned by Michael Jackson, something Sir Paul is not happy about. Although why he licensed the music to Rock Band and not iTunes is still beyond me.
Jackson owns the publishing rights to The Beatles music not the licensing.

The Beatles don't put their music on ITunes b/c, in the 60s, the Beatles started their own label called "Apple Records." When Apple computers came out, there was a huge lawsuit regarding use of the Apple name. The terms of the condition stated that Apple computers could keep using the name Apple so long as they never got into the music industry. With the beginning of the Ipod and Itunes, Apple has since broken the terms of the contract and reentered themselves back into a legal dispute with the surviving Beatles and their estates over the use of the Apple name.
