Circuit City has just announced that they plan to close 20% of its U.S. stores and laying off thousands of its employees.
Closings will begin as soon as this week - with the 155 stores having "going out of business" sales.
Sad.

I agree with fleetwoodmama. I think it's a horribly run company from the top down. I'm very sad so many people are losing their job, but it should've been a better run company that was more focused on customer care issues.

I've worked for both Best Buy and Circuit City. Circuit City was BY FAR the best place I have ever worked! Best Buy was…the 2nd worst.
I knew it was coming, and I am really sad to see Circuit City go.

I actually work for CC, and we had a meeting about this on Sunday morning. Circuit City are "core" stores and they launched new stores called "The City" which is a platform for us to grow. I worked at Best Buy before… you honestly have no idea what they do there… if you think they have great customer service then big ups to you haha.
I stopped shopping at Circuit City a few years ago. Their service SUCKS. I see the store closest to me is closing. Good, they're all a bunch of dayfuckers.
Circuit City used to work on commission and would act like vultures when you walked into the store trying to get you to buy ANYTHING. they also NEVER took no for an answer, even after like the 6th no. '

I'm surprised they are still in business. They are overpriced and their city advantage warranty program sucks. They have been ripping people off since the early 90's when they were pushing those cheap packard bell POS computers.
