Wednesday, November 5th
As deeply disappointed as we all are that California voters passed Proposition 8, we must not allow that disappointment to linger. This vote is a temporary defeat in the long march toward equal rights for all citizens in America.
Please join me for a protest rally tonight at 7 pm on San Vicente Blvd between West Hollywood Park and the Pacific Design Center (647 N. San Vicente Blvd. West Hollywood CA 90069) as we move forward towards restoring equality for all in California.
San Vicente Blvd, between Santa Monica Blvd and Melrose Avenue will be closed tonight starting at 6 pm. San Vicente south-bound traffic will be directed to make left or right at Santa Monica Blvd. Signs have already been posted to help divert traffic.

I am glad that Prop 8 passed. I feel the country should give gays and lesbians every right as a married couple, but have that be called a "Civil Union". They could have a ceremony, could file the paperwork at the courthouse, could visit their partner in the hospital — all the rights that a married man and women have. But, I believe that the tern "Marriage' is only for one man married to one woman. I do believe in equal, Civil Rights, but it just needs another name (like Civil Union).

Equal rights? Whats equal about it? Having the "right" to marry doesn't make you equal. Marriage is an American institution meant to provide for families. I can't marry my sister. Should I have the "right" to do so? (I don't have a sister and wouldn't want to marry her if I did).

This isn't a civil rights issue. It is about marriage between a man and a woman. It has been that way since Adam and Eve. Gays will not lose their rights as partners. They may live how they want to. They don't hav to sit in the back of the bus or not be able to vote. America believes marriage is between man and a woman as was evidence from last night. If you took an African American and said look here buddy, you can have all the same rights as us "white folk", but just because traditionally only us "white folk" are supposed to have these rights, we'll give them to you, but we want to change the name first..
