The people in San Francisco are taking a stand against injustice!
The San Francisco City Attorney's office is planning to challenge the validity of Proposition H8TE to ban gay marriage.
A rep for the City Attorney's office says City Attorney Dennis Herrera will file the legal challenge in the California Supreme Court.
In addition, the first lesbian couple to get married in Los Angeles County, after the Supreme Court threw out the gay marriage ban, are also planning to bring a lawsuit against Prop 8.
Let's hope a lot of others plan to do the same.
Something needs to be done!

It is NOT a civil "rights" issue. Even the bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that men shall not lie with other men. If you want to be with someone, then be with them, but why is the title of "marriage" so important? I don't understand that.

I see little boys that I know will be gay when they grow up. I played with my tomboy neighbor growiung up and she always did what the boys did, she was very competitive. When babies are born as hemaphrodites, do they choose it? No. What about born with any other condition? Just because a doctor hasn't labeled it yet doesn't mean it doesn't exist. This comes from the brain, doctors will check how many fingers and toes you have and your motor reflexes but they aren't going to run tests to see if you'll turn out gay.

Tradition is irrelevant. If the United States had used tradition as an excuse to oppose change, cars, electricity, planes, paved roads, interracial marriages, civil rights, the belief in heliocentricity, and countless other things could have never come about. We could still be under Britain's rule. People could be persecuted for differing religious beliefs. Any scientific theory that went against the beliefs of the "traditional" Catholic Church would be disregarded, and the beliefs' perpetuator would be put to death.. Same sex couples who have been together for years should have the same civil rights as any straight couple who has been together for years does REGARDLESS. There is more than just the big ceremony and the fucking title here people, or is that all you really think that's all the LGBT community is in an uproar about? Perhaps if you would like to NOT hear someone whine about the decision, you may try getting your gossip from someone who isn't tremendously affected by this, you guys don't care because either way, if it's passed or not IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT ON YOU!

1) What ever happened to separation of church and state?

I voted no. A lot of people I know voted yes. This is actually one of the first issues where I can see it from both opposing perspectives. It's just really hard for people to accept two men or two women getting married b/c it's been between a man and a woman for so long. Basically, the Yes voters don't see it as an equal rights issue, they see it as a sanctity of marriage issue. I don't really care about marriage so it doesn't bother me.

The people have spoken. Elections are incredibly hard to overturn, particularly when the majority is so very clear. 4% points is a lot…it's more than what Obama won the popular vote by.
