The people spoken, now STFU!
so wrong!
2nd??
fucking religious freaks. So why do you care if we suck dick or not.
what is wrong with california?!?
gays and lesbians make us such a huge part of california
something is not right in their minds…some of the things states have passed disgusts me…this being the number one thing
i am not gay but i have friends who are and i want them to have the same rights that i do
but try to be optimistic perez…we just elected a black president
i know it'll happen for you
i
I was so proud to be an american last night, because I felt we finally had equality for all and we had taken a step forward. Now we took a step back and proved that we are still not equal in this country and that 50% of Californians support Hate in this world. It's Sad. BUT GO OBAMA!
hahahahahah
SERIOUSLY?
Thats f*cked up!
O_O
THEY'RE LETTING BARACK OBAMA BE PRESIDENT BUT THEY ARE PASSING 8!??!?
wrong.
so wrong.
i'm gonna write a letter
this whole thing is a damn shame…equality is a right i wish i was in cali to vote, its so sad that after all this time Americans are still acting like this i have never been so proud and so disgusted with being an American
Booooooo
This is SO WRONG! What happens to all the gay couples who got married when this RIGHT was first “given” to them. Does that mean in the eyes of the law they are no longer married? It sad how they can just take that away.
And to think, I thought our country was making progress
On the bright side, Obama is in!
UGH!!!! SO SICK! Im so sorry Perez!!!
I'm glad my vote counted!
THANK YOU CALIFORNIA: YES VOTE ON 8 IS VERY GREAT!
so wrong, that is f-ed up and NOT fair.
I just anted to hear from someone for the ban.
What are the reasons behind supporting it?
It in no way affects your life.
Maybe I am mistaken but just lookign for some thoughts on the matter.
I am so sorry to the Californians' effected by this. I feel awful.
Condolences California.
Love,
New York
provisional and absentee ballots are still being counted! theres still hope!!
at least we still have the right to fall in love.
::pouting::
How the fuck is it called when the race is under 1 million votes and there are nearly 3 millions provisional and absentee ballots? Who called it?
Too bad
so sad for the rest of the nation dreaming of coming to free hate zone (or so we thought) California : (
sickening. congratulations America we will once again be backwards in equality.
Damn,that does suck…sorry perez.
That sucks. It was almost 50/50…like 52 to 48 i think. So pretty much half the population of California want gay marriage and the other half don't. It makes no sense. Why not let the half that do just be. People should mind their own damn business and let others do what they want. If some guy wants to bang another guy who cares? It's not like its affecting anybody else!!
Sheesh I thought it was 2008. I guess that's why the gays are happier over here in Canada
What a horrible hate filled choice
I'm sorry Perez. It's sad to see this happen.
i'm sorry, perez. but…mark my words. this shit is on it's way out. i really really believe it. if my own child can safely be out of the closet in a school in northeast tennessee, that's a good sign that things are really, really changing.
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
All your "work" and bitching was for NOTHING
WTF THIS IS STUPID
I voted for McCain.
I voted No on 8.
I'm just a big ol' loser today. lol.
I am just sad at the fact that we as a group (Gay and Lesbian) can gather together with everyone else and make there dreams a reality. In turn we are given the preverbal knife in the back. Prop 8 is a sad statement made by the people of California in a time in which all should rejoice in a time of great accomplishment.
Being a Latino it especially is hurtful to hear that this Prop may have been passed by a majority of Latino and Black votes. Two groups which have been struggling with equality issues for generations. It is a happy day for some and for others a time of worry about our futures in this society.
this is truly disappointing california. come to massachusetts, land of freedom and john kerry!! just bring a space heater.
Very wrong.
yey for prop 8!
THAT IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOO.
That's heartbreaking. Even though I'm not directly affected by this, I feel for all of you who are.
that is so messed up. i am not happy!
Amazingly enough, the people of California finally got something right. Now would you hurry up and fall into the Pacific already.
So wrong. Looks like theres a majority of hateful shites voting on prop 8
hahahahahaaaaaa
I still don't get why, but maybe someday it will change. Oh well…..
THAT'S VERY VERY SAD! IS NOT FAIR. PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO MARRY WHOEVER THEY WANT TO. IT REALLY DOESN'T AFFECT ANYONE WHAT GAY PEOPLE DO! THEY DESERVE TO HAVE THEY SAME RIGHTS AS OTHER PEOPLE DO BECAUSE THEY ARE AS WELL HUMAN BEINGS AND AMERICANS!
So sad. I wonder what is going to happen to the couples that were married? Is it all void now?
I am sorry!!!
F**king B**lsh*t!!!! What is wrong with people, we finally have a strong leader in place who has strong beleifs in human rights but state leaders don't. It is a sad sad day
Sorry Perez
what a shit way to ruin such a brilliant day!! Cant believe there's still so many homophobes out there!!! how dare they take away the rights of many of my friends to get married, who the fuck do they think they are??? History was made by electing a black president and now california has taken a million steps back by discriminating people!!! its like going back to when women and black people didnt have the same rights as the rest of people. SOOOOO WRONG!!!! SHAME ON U!!! hope u are riddle with guilt when u realised u are just like those racist sexist cunts who discriminated all those years ago. What a fuckin shame, im sooooo dissapointed. FUCK ALL THOSE IN CALIFORNIA WHO VOTED YES!!!!
YAY! At least a majority put the 10 commandments before emotions. Allegiance to God before allegiance to man!
Re: Goodbye Sweet America!!!COLON!!! Goodby –
not all the people. in fact close to half the people still said no!! this fight is NOT over, it doesn't matter that 51% of california chose discrimination, 49% said no, and they are not gonna give up
:( I'm sorry Perez. I live in Florida and was so disheartened last night when I learned that Amendment 2 passed and am even more appalled about the passing of Prop 8. America may have taken a step forward last night in electing Obama but took 5 steps back by passing these laws of hate. But the fight isn't over. These setbacks will be overcome, no matter how long it takes.
I'm not gay or American, but I think it's an absolute disgrace that people have voted against gay marriage - how is it right for someone else to decide if you love a person enough to marry them. Start a petition Perez - a worldwide one!!! I'm in the Uk and would gladly sign it and know many others who would
I am so disgusted and ashamed of california. I expected more from them,. im so sorry perez. Keep shining you crazy diamond!much love from SEATTLE!
Myabe you should blame Bush. You blame him for everything else.
What ever happened to "All men are created equal"?!?!
This makes me soooo sad.
My friend just got married in Cali to the love of his life and the homophobic people of America just took that right away.
:(
Gays will always be equal in my book.
Soooo Sad.
Ignorant people of America: OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES.
We have come so far and yet we still have a LONG WAY to go!
that sucks…
at least u guys can come 2 boston and get married
Re: d_nasty – shsut up you fat vagina.
THATS RIDICULOUS. EQUAL RIGHTS
P I
Re: NPollie23 – You are a fucktard!!! Saying we took a step forward becuase a black man was elected is stupid. Obama may be a step forward but it has nothing to do with his color.
This votes was a will of th people. i love how you liberals are only tolerant of people you agree with. If they disagree they are religious freaks. I'm sure many who voted against it had nothing to do with there religious beliefs!!!
It's a sad day for the constitution.
And I'm glad I'm Canadian.
My thoughts go out to all of those who were married between June 16th and November 4th of 2008. I hope you maintain your rights.
Im not gay or allowed to get married (I'm only 14) but I am still glad I live in Massachusetts where gays are equal to straight people. I think growing up in this environment educates my peers that gay people are no different than straight people and are equal. I just wish californians were as lucky as I am =(
Re: Pwn3d! – IF UR SUCH A HOMOPHOBE WHY ARE U ALWAYS HERE COMENTING ON A OPENLY GAY MAN'S WEBSITE?????????????? seriously u people make me sick. Fuck u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ignorant fuckin bastard.
A Damn Shame!!
that's fucked up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: nomimalone1978 – That's actually wrong. The difference is just over 4 million. Even if all 3 mil went to "no", it would still pass.
Re: julesnj – We don't care if you suck dick or not. Suck all the dick you want, we don't care. Just don't ask to get married as long as Perez is supporting it.
This is so sad!!
haha the hate is just starting!!! Now all the fuckers in Kenya think they are freely going to come to this country wtf!!!
Like this fool for example what the fuck makes him think that now that obama got elected anyone can come in to our country:
"If it were possible for me to get to the United States on my bicycle, I would," said Joseph Ochieng, a 36-year-old carpenter who lives in Kenya's sprawling Kibera shantytown, a maze of tin-roofed shacks and dirt roads.
wow, that is ridiculous.
Re: Skiracer019 – Why are you reading a gay mans blog if you are so anti-gay?
Awww..too bad so sad….marriage is between a man and women. End Of Story. Call it anything you want but MARRIAGE.
This isn't an issue to be VOTED on. It should be their RIGHT! Isn't there supposed to be a separation between church and state? They are citizens and pay taxes just like everyone else! Should they get to pay fewer taxes because they receive fewer rights? WAKE UP AND SMELL THE SEGREGATION!!!!!!!!! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!
WOW. INTERESTING.
Terrible.. so terrible!!
Are you serious, Perez??
That's so awful. I'm sorry.
Why do people care so much if homosexuals get married? I have always had a tough time understanding that. If a homosexual couple gets married, it has no effect whatsoever on my life. They have every right to get married. This is so wrong, and so unfair. And just when I thought America was heading in the right direction with the Obama win…
Yeah, 1 step forward, 2 steps back. It's bullshit.
How could this happen?!? I thought we had evolved a little more from the bible thumping bigotry that has held our society captive in the past!
I'm so disappointed!!!!!!!!
Who says you need a certificate to say that you are married though. Don't let a piece of paper keep you from celebrating your relationship and wearing rings, and living life like a normal married couple.
This is so wrong on so many levels. Love is love!
This is terrible! How is it possible in 2008 that America does not have equal rights for all citizens? Discrimination shouldn't even be given the chance to be declared "legal." It should be a given. Just because some people wouldn't participate in or support gay marriage doesn't mean they should have the choice to take anyone else's rights away.
Re: Smirks – Oh, your not a loser, even tho you did pick McCain…
Thats ok…
:)
the people have spoken
fucking homophobes!!
fuck all of you
YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUDGE HOW OTHER PEOPLE CHOOSE TO LIVE THEIR LIVES
The equivalent in Florida, Amendment 2, passed as well.
I just don't get how the same people who helped put Obama in the White House can't accept gay marriage. There was a time blacks couldn't get married either you know…how do you feel about that? It took us over 200 years to elect a black president, is it going to take 200 years before people can accept gay rights?
One step at a time Perez. We just got a black president. We can't go to hell all at once.
I'm sad that the Prop passed because there's lot's of gay couples out there who really do want & deserve to get married. But c'mon Perez, it's not like someone's going to EVER want to marry YOUR FAT FUGLY ASS anyway!! =)
God's Will Be Done. everything happens for a reason!
Re: xtiney – It's more about liberal judges overturning laws that were already voted on by the people a few years back, if they overturn this than what's next?
As a gay black man, I have mixed emotions…we have come so far as Black people by having a Black President, but at the same time, there is still alot of ignorance in this world about gay people…the surprising thing is that alot of Blacks and Latinos voted Yes on 8…..HELLO, we have been treated as minorities for so long and now you want to spread the same hate to gays that is being spread to us as "non-white" people. HATRED IS SO STUPID…when will this world realize that gays are just as equal as straights (and better looking too!! LOL)
For a state that has always been ahead, we are definitely taking a step BACK.
So sad. And pathetic.
I live in San Francisco and have many gay friends we were so hoping this did not pass. We were out last night watching the election and to our shock people were actually cheering that it passed. As the weeks lead up to this alot of Mormons and Christians went around protesting and actually a teenage girl was beat up yesterday for saying she was against prop 8. This disgusted me. I am ashamed to still see we live in a time ignorance and not looking beyond what this realy stands for.
very sad.
It's not just Religious freaks. I don't believe in god, and I don't think this is right for our state. The people have spoken. Again. Try a different avenue like attacking the specific problems. Like I hear a lot about someone being sick and the partner not considered family. Make a law that says a person can write down who can be let in if they ever get sick. Why does it have to be called marrige? Thats the objection.
I voted for YES ON 8! A similar proposition was passed a few years ago before being overturned by a few judges up North… Why is everyone so shocked that it would pass again??? The same people are voting.
yes to prob 8!!!!!!!
Definately a bitter-sweet moment last night. The United States of America really did prove to be a country of equality-not for all, but it taking the steps forward. The problem is that people are choosing where equality is right and where it's wrong. Equality is not a hard word to define, but people will always define it differently. Seems pretty simple to me. Although I will be sad for a while about the final decision on this I'll remember that many people fought long and hard for us, the young gay community to even get this far. I will continue to fight just as hard as they did and trust that we can make them proud. Remember people we've hear this argument before with women getting the right to vote, African Americans getting equality, and so many more civil-right movements. Just think about which side you would have liked to be on back then. Today I am proud of America and tomorrow I will fight so the gay community could be equally as proud.
Stop whining, Perez! It sucks, but being a little bitch is so unlady like.
Re: Marie99 – separation of church and state asshole.
