Selena Rebuffs Carrie!

Despite claiming to be drama-free, Carrie Underwood's recent anti-politics comments have garnered the little country crooner some negative attention.
Sweet Selenita responded to Carrie's statement that celebrities should not make public political endorsements with some disapproval.
"A lot of people do look up to certain celebrities and will follow in their footsteps," Gomez says, but with wisdom beyond her years, cautioned, "I think you just have to be aware of what you're saying."
Although the little Disney star is not yet old enough to vote, she was active in encouraging the under-18 crowd to educate themselves. She helped launch UR Vote Counts, which conducted a faux election for teens, with voting booths set up in malls.
And high schoolers all over elected Obama for president as well.
Selena observed, "I'm glad that people are getting involved with the election. This election has been the biggest with celebrities."
Which means that Carrie must have "lost respect" for names such a Steven Spielberg and Brad Pitt.

Brad Pitt and Spielberg are not as self-righteous as others and they are low key about their views and I think that's fine. The smartest thing a celeb could do is stay quiet about their views out of respect for their fans who don't share their views.
Underwood comes from Oklahoma where they voted McCain 66% compared to Obama 34%, so no wonder she's in a huff. The first amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees freedom of speech which all Americans, including celebrities, are free to enjoy. Celebrate America and Obama's victory!
I would respect celebrites more if they just told people to exercise the right to vote. We don't need them to shove their candidate down our throats because lets face it, 99 percent of those celebrities who vote are liberal. We know which candidate their endorsing. You find it hard to believe that she's sold that many albums. Look it up. "Some Hearts" has sold over 6.5 million copies, and "Carnival Ride" is already up to 2.4 million. Add 'em together and she's sold nearly 9 million copies. She's not the only one either. Country music is not a dead end genre. Selena might be popular, I'm not going to say she's not. Given I had to look her up to figure out who the hell she is I'm sure there are a lot of little kids out there who look up to her. Apparently she's a Disney star? Which i'm sure means that she's a Disney movie actress turned singer. They all seem to be these days. I'm still standing by everything I said. Selena will never have the fame that Carrie has. Even people who don't listen to country music know at least who Carrie Underwood is. Selena whatever-her-last-name-is is only known in her little Disney crowd. Nothing wrong with it, but trying to say she's going to pass Carrie is completely off.
