Ellen Speaks Out

With the passing of perhaps one of the most ridiculous propositions of the last 10 years, many celebs are speaking out.

And the recently-married Ellen DeGeneres is among those that are speaking out about this injustice.

In a statement released by DeGeneres says:

"Watching the returns on election night was an amazing experience. Barack Obama is our new president. Change is here. I, like millions of Americans, felt like we had taken a giant step towards equality. We were watching history.

This morning, when it was clear that Proposition 8 had passed in California, I can’t explain the feeling I had. I was saddened beyond belief. Here we just had a giant step towards equality and then on the very next day, we took a giant step away.

I believe one day a 'ban on gay marriage' will sound totally ridiculous. In the meantime, I will continue to speak out for equality for all of us."

You go, girl!

We couldn't agree with Ellen any more.

Something needs to change!

    Go cry in your hairpie.

  2. 2

God!! Please don't start with the fake crying!!!

  3. 3

    Ellen has a bigger P E N I S than Perez!!!

  4. 4

poor ellen and portia… i hope someday people will open their eyes and see what this is doing to REAL, happy couples across the state. good luck, california.

  5. 5

I dont even understand how gay marraige would affect those who arent involed.lol
If youre a hetero against gay marriage can you expalin yourself…and how 2people in love getting married would affect you.

  6. 6

    Supreme Court!

  7. 7

I agree with Ellen, I think alot of people were misinformed and didn't research the propsition. It's sad because they hurt alot of people for being misinformed.

  8. 8

You people are sick! And so is anybody who voted for Prop 8. What's next? Shall we make gay people drink out of separate water fountains? Prejudicism should have been done a long time ago. Grow up, people. If you want a cause to fight, fight cancer. Not marriage.

  9. 9

so many people r full of shit…everyone is =

  10. 10

Already saw new bumper sticker on car
    1/20/12 - Hussein Obama's last day.

This is a travesty. Most of the comments on this ENTIRE WEBSITE are those of people gloating and basking in a sickening fervor for the suppression of GLBT rights. You did it guys!!! You won! You are asking US to bow out gratefully? You are asking US to just "move along with life and accept the decision?" WOULD YOU? From what I have read of all this religious zealotry and plain old nastiness, you can't just leave it at "wining" but have to really sit there and rub salt into the very serious wounds of people who have just been told they do not have equal rights. Why don't you all JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE??? Let them grieve. Let them be in peace. Don't pour this disgusting display of hatred on top of this overwhelming sadness. You are KICKING A DOG THAT IS DOWN. SHAME ON YOU. And by the way, this is NOT over yet. I vow that I will see equality spread to those people. If something doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger. GLBT, I love you all. Please don't listen to these words. Your sexual preference is no different then the color of your eyes, and yes it most likely is genetic. You are normal people who deserve a lot more then what has happened. I support you 100%. Live, love, and be strong.

  12. 12

Deal with it, fags. The people have spoken. AGAIN.

  13. 13

    How sad! It is ridiculous!

A gay couple should be allowed the same privileges as a straight couple and a marriage is nothing necessarily to do with religion but a legal contract ensuring that if the marriage ends then the kids and the property belong to both partners and have to be settled accordingly. It is utterly ridiculous.

Move to the UK Ellen and Portia! We'd love to have you! xxx

  14. 14

I know that myself and my husband voted NO, along with MOST of my family. I just can't believe this happened. Sadly this is a HUGE step backwards. Wonder how long until they make gay's use a seperate bathroom… BOOO CALIFORNIA!!!

  15. 15

Comments 1 to 4 are sick! So is anybody who voted for Prop 8. What's next? Shall we make gay people drink out of separate water fountains? Prejudicism should have been over a long time ago. Grow up, people. If you want a cause to fight, fight cancer. Not marriage.

  16. 16

Sorry FAGS!!!! You've been pwned!!!! Bwhahahahaha!!!

Does is really matter to you to pretend you are married while boning each other up the arse or, like Ellen, when using a strap-on to pork yer GF??? Hahahahahahahah!!!!!

  17. 17

P.S. QUESTION TO ALL BACKWARD AMERICANS: If you all say that someone has to choose to be gay, does that mean that you are CHOOSING to be straight?

  18. 18

I'm surprised it took almost 2 days for her to speak about it. What's she whining about anyway? Marriage isn't all it's cracked up to be; it's a lot of work.

  19. 19

STFU PEREZ i dont come on your site to read your fuckin bitching and kvetching about this crap now.. i want to hear about amy crackhouse, the olsen trolls and slutty cyrus

I love your post! I 100% agree with you. We will fight for EVERYONE to have equal rights.

I would like to know what you and all the celebrities are going to say when Obama's so called "CHANGE" doesn't happen??????? I can't wait until that day so like you all said to us that is was "Bush's fault" now it can be "Obama's fault" because the "CHANGE" will never ever happen. And if it did it wouldn't be from that sad excuse for a president, he's a fake!!!!

  26. 26

Why do people keep saying americans have stepped that much closer to equality or w/e. Is it because he's black (half)??? Sorry but black people already have equal rights so what are you getting at?

  27. 27

Re: PIGezHIVton – You are one of the most disgusting excuses for a human being. I am sure that even the people who reluctantly voted yes on 8 for religious reasons resent you. You make YES on 8 look even worse (if possible) then it already is. Actually, keep trucking. Maybe the Yes people will look at you and see that you are the dirty naked truth under this sickening proposition. At least you're honest though. I am happy that people can see this unfettered example of what the heart of this proposition really is THROUGH YOU–pure ranting devilish hatred.

  28. 28

    Re: Quasimofo

you know, you're being quite the hypocrite. you're gay bashing on a website that you choose to go to (and appear to have an account) whose namesake is a GAY MAN. that would be like me going to a pride parade, and then coming home to watch the coverage on fox news.

there should be a disclaimer at the top of this website that states by viewing this site and/or posting here, you are supporting gay rights and equality. that would scare away a few of you homophobes.

  29. 29

…I have no interest in being married, but it should be a choice. Being gay or lesbian is not a choice, but they shuld have the same rights as everybody. This is archaic. But then again, major networks and cable stations are talking about this recent Presidential Election being historic because of a person's skin color. It should never be about color, age, sex, or orientation…just the issues.

  30. 30

    it's WRONG to legislate discrimination

    Re: KeyLimePie
Now that's something I would vote for! Can we do that? Sounds like a fun thing to do! Hee hee! Anyone want to join me in writing a proposition to make them drink out of separate faucets? Hee hee hee hee! And, by the way, I'm not fighting marriage. I'm fighting fags getting the right to marry!

Re: njpaul0129 – 11/06/08 THE DAY NJPAUL GETS FUCKED UP THE ASS!

  33. 33

  36. 36

  37. 37

at least she had a nice, mature statement released…..unlike your crying, bitching ass perez………….

  38. 38

I also voted No on 8; however I feel that the vote of the people must be upheld. You can't go running to the courts, every-time a proposition doesn't go the way you want. The people have voted on this…TWICE, the first time it was overturned by judges.

If it had been the other way around and it was voted for, then taken away by judges…we would ALL be screaming in the streets!! That is a precedence we can start.

Unfortunately the people have spoken. We'll just have to work to get it put on the ballot again.

  39. 39

Cry us a river MBEB =D

  40. 40

I voted McCain-Palin, but the minute they lost I swallowed my pride and will stand behind my new president. So now it is time for you to suck it up, Perez, and move on. In other words get the Fuck over it!

  41. 41

Re: njpaul0129 – Hey - even me, a republican, can at least give the man a chance - I'm keeping my powder dry - I KNOW this man will FUCK it up - Roy-ale - so I'll wait - it should take about 2 months after swearing in - a day after he won: 1) Hamass fired missiles at Israel 2) Russia is saying Fuck YOU USA by moving missiles to the baltic - let the games begin - he's weak - and our enemies know it - but WE shall see. I personally think Obama will the the lofty, thinker President, we'll see poignant photos, a la, JFK, in sweaters with the kids in the Oval office - feel good moments, but I HIGHLY doubt he can lead the most powerful military in the world or defend us from a terror attack

  42. 42

Take solace deary, you all have 2 yrs to get it back on the ballet……MOST americans have to wait 4 yrs………………

  43. 43

    Re: njpaul0129 – OMG I Want one!!!!!!

  44. 44

    Re: ashbert13

Coudnt have said it better myself.

Religion is the problem. Its fucking disgusting how their precious bible is the excuse for every discriminating view they have. Wake up, the bible is about as real as Harry Potter. Idiots!

  45. 45

Here, here… I wish the I lived in California to vote a big, fuck NO.

You haters are aware that you sound incredibly stupid, no?
ALL of your arguments don't make ANY FUCKING SENSE!

  46. 46

Re: LettyB – He already gets it in the butthole. :)

  47. 47

    Re: mrs. puff
The "whining" as you so elegantly put it, is about equality. It's about a right being taken away from one group of people. It's about freaking discrimination!
Tell me, how is it fair two drunk (but straight of course) strangers are allowed marry each other in Vegas and get a divorce two days later, but a gay couple that have been together for years can't get married? Sanctity of marriage, my ass!

  48. 48

Is everyone un-aware of the fact that Barack Obama is also against gay marriage?? People seem to forget about that. I am so sorry for Ellen and everyone that is being affected negatively by this. But let me tell you why I voted YES ON 8 — It wasn't a vote against gays, it was a vote against the 4 JUDGES THAT OVERTURNED THE ORIGINAL VOTE CALIFORNIAN'S MADE 4 YEARS AGO TO BAN GAY MARRIAGE! It is a stand up to them to say YOU CAN'T OVERTURN EVERYTHING WE VOTE FOR! IT IS OUR RIGHT TO VOTE, YOU CAN'T CHANGE IT!! I hope you all understand, My YES vote WAS a vote for our very freedoms and liberties that FOUR people tried to take away.

  49. 49

to Quasimofo and all other ignorant dip-shit*s. We are dealing with it with confidence and strength, not crying lol. This brings us together and makes us strong, and you guys are lonely hateful losers. We will prevail and have equality no doubt about it !! You only help us become stronger so keep up with your negativity please - I dare you to challenge us. lol

  50. 50

I want to be Ellen's tongue.

  51. 51

equal rights for all. but some people seem more equal than others…

  52. 52

i heart ellen..and totally agree with her statement..being in love with someone is a special thing that not eveyone can experience..so when you do find love no matter if its with a man or woman you should be able to celebrate it however you choose…there are no boundaries on love and there should be no boundaries marriage…gay or straight love is a right not a privilege and in a wold where there is so much hate, it should be celebrated as much as possible

  53. 53

Re: ashbert13 – I wish I had said it as well as you did.

  54. 54

  55. 55

That is a terrible picture of Portia!!!

  56. 56

Re: sandpir8 – Portia is her wife you ignoramus. Not her GF. They were legally married this past summer and there is no clear understanding yet of what Prop 8 means to those who married when it was legal.

  57. 57

    Re: ideanuk

  58. 58

Re: ashbert13 – Amen to you, sista!!! :)

  59. 59

Re: ideanuk – So what's your excuse for discriminating against religious people? Was it a bad upbringing or are you just prejudiced on your own? Also, why are you assuming it was the religious who passed Proposition 8? Believe what you want, but I highly doubt that all 51% of those who voted for it are practicing members of a particular church. That's akin to saying that everybody who voted for Obama must be black.

  60. 60

Re: sandpir8 – The Supreme Court can decide if a referendum is unconstitutional which is exactly was Prop 8 is. Bwhahahahaha!!! you moron.

  61. 61

It's bound to change. I mean, it's not going to stay this way forever, although it may take a while to change, it WILL. =] Just wait and see, there's a new generation of voters coming to bite this proposition in the ass. In the meantime, Gays are going to continue to be Gays, and this proposition can't stop that. =] Marriage should be a civil right, I don't see why this proposition even exists to vote on in the first place. lol.

  62. 62

Re: Sgirl – Using the word fag is hurtful and wrong. It would be like me calling you a cunt.

  63. 63

Re: Jenn_e_Jenn – Are you stupid? Do you understand the question?

  64. 64

    Re: Quasimofo – word!

  65. 65

    Proposition H8TE!!! LOL

  66. 66

If GOD had meant for there to be lesbians and fags, then he would have created Adam & Ed or Emily & Eve…not Adam & Eve!!!! All of you GAY people are going to burn in hell!!!!!!

  67. 67

I love it…Something needs to change!

On Tuesday the world voted for the first black president, it shows the power of voting. On the same day, the same vote that was hailed as historic also had a Yes for Prop 8…you cant have your cake and eat it to. It's ok to recognize the historical vote for Obama but it's a shame that the vote came in favor of Prop 8…lol

Whatever perez…maybe someday things will be different but right now you guys lost, go have your civic union and be happy with that. Your just QQing cause you hopes got beat you douche.

  68. Madey says – reply to this

There is a reason gay people should NOT be married. Marriage is for a man and a women and NO society has ever thrived or endured gay marriage. Sorry, but it is true…do the research and check your facts. Opinions are great, but the truth will set us free!!

  69. 69

Re: BlancheD – They will remain married and receive all the benefits that they would had they agreed to do a civil union and receive all the benefits of a married couple.

  70. 70

Fucking ignorant assholes… I hate how people can use tradition or the fucking bible to preach hate on anyone… As the world changes, people become more openly accepting of the LGBT community, fuck the most popular blogger around is a fucking homosexual, the most popular talk show host we have out there right now is a fucking lesbian, we can come get gossip from them, watch them everyday on the TV, and yet, when it comes to giving them the same rights we have to marry someone they love, we deny them.. and the SADDEST part is, legalizing this shit would have ABSOLUTELY no effect on any of the assholes who voted yes.. If you don't agree with it that's fine, no one is asking you to change your opinions, morals, anything.. hell it's not like once it is legal they have to go out and marry someone of the same sex.. this is a fucking outrage to me, people are soo fucking heartless and the ways they try to justify it just make them seem like complete thoughtless assholes…

  71. 71

Re: Jenn_e_Jenn – Unless the state's supreme court agrees that this referendum is unconstitutional.

  72. 72

So? Let them burn in hell. It's their CHOICE. That's the beauty of America.

  73. 73

100 years ago, I didn't have the right to vote. Black people couldn't marry white people. Black people were forced to sit at the back of the bus and drink from separate water fountains. These days, we think that is ridiculous.

This too shall pass. Equal rights for all…50 years from now, we'll be wondering how it took so long for this country to get it right. Promise.

  74. 74

  75. 75

First, people might want to consider snapping themselves out of the Obama "change" trance. This "change" stuff has began to sound really cult like. You voted in a really charismatic guy who is surrounded by a bunch Chicago people who for the most part have been playing the same old game for decades.

Rahm Emmanual is Obama's Chief of Staff, do not look for change, look for whatever is good for that Chicago Combine etc.

Second, it is totally fucked up that the government gets involved with the concept of marriage, and dictates to people who they should marry.

  76. Rovex says – reply to this

If the straights want 'marriage' so much let them have it. We can have something else, better. As long as the rights are equal i don't care. Frankly heteros have ruined the concept anyway, made a mockery of it, i dont really want to be a part of it.
Make 'marriage' as defined by prop 8 and we can have something elsed more pure and meaningful with less god bothering crap. Gay and religious well there are sympathetic priests out there, have a gay union in a sympathetic church (as opposed o a pathetic one).
This is what we have in the UK, its the superior way. Some consider civil unions inferior because its separate, well gay people are NOT the same, we are different, lets celebrate the fact and ditch the inferior hetero shit.

  77. 77

What I don't understand is if you have negative things to say towards homosexuals in any shape or form … why are you on this website? Don't you people realize Perez is a homosexual? If you hate them so much why do you visit his page?

I voted NO on prop H8TE.

We all put our pants on the same way in the morning and we all need oxygen to stay alive … why can't we all have the choice to get married to someone we love?
I'm tired of hearing Christian people saying Gay people are wrong and they are going to hell b/c it's a sin to be Gay and Gay people choose to be Gay.

Well guess what? Gay people are born Gay … why would anyone want to CHOOSE a life where they are constantly ridiculed and put down?

And as for the so called "Christians who can do no wrong" 90% of you people are having pre-martial sex and living together unmarried .. and having children before marriage.

So before you go out pointing fingers … make sure your hands are clean.

  78. 78

How about if Ellen ran for president and Oprah vp? Some people's dream team? I like it better when Ellen sticks to comedy and not politics.

  79. 79

One day you fucking uneducated bible thumpers will be so very ashamed of yourselves.

  80. Rovex says – reply to this

Re: tinyxdancer – Unfortunately tinyxdancer there are still people who want to see the separation of blacks and whites. some will never get over irrational hate, it is a mental illness.

U dont have the balls to say the shit u say on here to anyone's face cause if u did, ud be one dead homophobe. Gays will have the last laugh and that day will come soon. When it does, id love to see the look on ur pathetic ugly face. FUCKING DIE IN A HORRIBLE WAY YOU PATHETIC PIECE OF TRASH!! find some hating redneck blog to spew ur hate. [re=3073856]WOW! Have you ever heard the word, "KARMA"!

  85. larox says – reply to this

The whole reason we are put on earth is to procreate! If we were meant to be with the same sex we would have been made asexual.

Marriage is union between man and women, if we go and change things to accommodate the gays and make them happy what's next? A father being able to marry his daughter, Mother/son, brother/sister farmer/goat?

  86. 86

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Hey Perez, go suck some balls and take a dick up your fag ass, then GET OVER THE FACT THAT YOU QUEERS LOST!!!!!

  87. 87

Re: anotherjen – but you don't seem to understand that this is about someone's personal rights. it's not like voting for governor or president. ur voting on something that has no effect on ur personal life unless ur gay. why should i have a right to decide who my neighbor down the street marries. it doesn't make or break me. i think the fact that people actually vote on it is sick. these are basic civil rights. GIVE IT TO THEM! this is unconstitutional.

  88. larox says – reply to this

Ok yeah and while we are at it why the hell not allow an adult to marry a child, beacue a pedophile has right too.

  89. 89

Re: KeyLimePie – HEY……you might be on to something. Can we do that???

  90. 90

You know what I sometimes wish…
I wish that the north lost the civil war and we were two countries – one where all the racist, greedy, warmonging, “moral” small minded ASSHOLES could make the rules that made them happy and one where intelligent, peaceful tolerant people could make theirs.

  91. 91

What needs to change is the use of the word "marriage". You are NOT heterosexual. All those creative gays out there can't come up with an appropriate word for gay union? You want to act like you are a heterosexual couple with the words wives and husbands- well, that won't work because you aren't heterosexuals. Why do you try to force that issue? JUST change the damn issue by changing the word. NO ONE will care if you just dump the word marriage. You can't force people to think the way you do. But you'll keep wasting our tax dollars to propose intiatives that fail. CHANGE THE WORD. By the way, you can get civilly unioned in california anyway. It's a lot of crap for nothing.

  92. larox says – reply to this

Re: PLainJane82 – So the pedophile down the street should be able to have sex with children too.

  93. 93

Re: ashbert13 – Just take it somewhere where people want to keep talking about it. We all thought this was a CELEBRITY blog. I wonder why Perez doesn't start a political blog…and don't say "this is his blog and he can post whatever he wants" Um, the advertisers won't be so happy if we all start leaving in droves, right Perez?

  94. 94

Gay people pay taxes and billions of dollars go toward managing marriage and divorce issues in our court system. Gay people should have access to these administrative issues as well. domestic partnership can be disolved without "divorce". Also if the states legalize marriage gay people can have medical benefits even is your employer does not offer domestic partner benefits, because then you are legally married. Your employer cannot desciminate against that.

gay people are people too, get over yourself

  95. 95

Keep the faith and the fight will one day be an amazing story of the way things used to be. . .

  96. 96

This is a civil rights issue!!!! At one time interracial marriage was illegal! If that did not change..Barack Obama wouldn't even be here to be our president, and yet many who voted for him did not vote No on this disgusting prop! What happened to separation bet church and state? The promise of America does not work unless everybody has the same rights under the law! I am married and can not imagine anyone telling my husband and I that our love means less than theirs does. It is WRONG!!! We have to change it. It is a forgone conclusion… It will change in our life time. Civil rights for ALL.

  97. 97

get over it and quit whining.

  98. 98

Re: ashbert13 – well, I haven't read any religious zealotry- though certainly people are entitled to believe anyway they wish- not the way you command. You are entitled to an opinion, but so is everyone on this site. To go after people who have a belief system, even though it isn't YOURS, is not exactly freedom of religion. They can vote and speak any way they wish. You imply they have to believe what you do. they don't. Half of them are just trying to get a reaction anyway.

  99. 99

    Couldn't agree with her more.

What's wrong with marrying the same sex? As long as you love each other that's all that should matter. I'm straight btw. I hope is ridiculous 'law' doesn't last long!

  100. 100

Re: Rovex – Whoa! "inferior hetero shit." that is quite the statement coming from someone who was born by a mother & father - maybe you're mom made you in a test tube - but you CAME from hetrosexuals - you wan't a alternative lifestyle - DEAL with the consequences - hands of marriage - no go eleveate yourself to some form of homo civil union - marriage is OURS
