Fox Bites Woman; Woman Runs With Fox As Accessory
Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & True
Let's say you were out on your daily run and a fox jumped out and bit you.
What would U do?
In one of the strangest wildlife encounters we've heard, a woman in Arizona was bitten on the foot by a fox while out jogging on some trails. When she went to grab the critter, it locked its jaws on her arm.
So then what did she do?
She ran the mile back to her house, then peeled the sucker off, and locked it in the trunk of her car. She then drove herself and the animal to the hospital where animal control tested the fox for rabies and the woman received treatment (And rabies shots!) for the bite.
How bizarre!

SOUNDS LIKE SALLY KERN WENT TO CONSOLE MCSTAIN IN AZ!
.
oh, it isn't perez either posting now…………………..
Jogging outdoors makes us smarter and tougher, no matter what we encounter. A fox? Heck, at least it wasn't a two-legged predator–they are the worst kind. And you can't haul them home and throw them into your trunk to test for rabies. Good for her! That is one hungry fox.
Re: Leona$ Gho$t – LEONA!! i am shocked! i thought you, of all people, would be more kind.
personally, if that was me, i woulda skinned the mo' fo' and made myself a lovely shawl!
YEP.
lol, the fox is cute ;]
wow that woman is really brave if she actually did that
The bears are a problem where I am,my 2 dogs were killed in my back yard in Sept another dog was killed on Saturday. We live right across from the Gulf of Mexico in Fl so it's not rural. I guess a human has to die before Fl wildlife does something, the damn things won't go near the two bear traps I've had in my yard. WATCH YOUR PETS!!!
I had something happen to me like that. Its not bizarre. There was a feral cat that bit me on the face all over. So I went to the hospital of course. The cat had run into our house and I was trying to get it out when it bit me. After it bit me it found a hiding spot. My boyfriend and I got home from the hospital and I was in so much pain. I kept saying I didn't let the cat out, so that they could catch and test it and nobody believed me because I was on pain meds.
At around 2am, I heard it in our house meowing really loudly. I woke my boyfriend up and it tried to bite him, too, so he had to beat it with a baseball bat he keeps to use on intruders. It looked just like one of our pet cats so he said it was really hard to do. This was 3 days before Christmas that it happened so of course the animal control people didn't want to come for days. My boyfriend had put a laundry basket on the cat so that our pets would be safe.
There was a lot of blood. We were worried it was infected. The animal control lady was freaked out and my boyfriend ended up trying to get the cat in her truck. They were truly incompetent. By the time it was all over I had scars all over my face and eyes, shots and and IV, and the worst antibiotics by pill I ever had taken before. I had to get the shots for 7 days. That meant that Christmas day I was at the hospital. I knew I was going to catch that cat though!
They killed it so they could test it for rabies. Now I just have to have surgery for my scars. So I say…kudos to that woman. She did the right thing, YOU are bizarre if you think you would do something else. I'm sure if you got bit, you'd be a wussy and you wouldn't catch it…otherwise you wouldn't be saying it was bizarre.
So long story short, we caught the cat and I'm better now. Good for the foxy woman for doing the same!
why is this bizarre? she was smart, thats what you have to do
And now she is wearing it!
Re: Leona$ Gho$t – LMAO!
I'm with you vickichen3, I don't find it bizarre, just incredibly level headed and smart of this woman. What should she do, cry and scream and run in a circle and wait for some guy to save her widdle life, Perez?
I actually think this was pretty smart of her to do..she ran to get tested and had the animal tested too…this animal could have bit someone else..that is one brave woman.
Holy crap I'm not sure to laugh or cry - that's horrible, but imagine the adrenaline rush it must have been to run with a fox attached to your arm - that damn thing would have been Kentucy fried fox when I trook it back home ….KFF KFF….delivery!!!
Wow, that sure is a story. LMAO I seriously rolled of the chair laughing. She must be one big ol' Bionic Woman. I'm surprised she didn't make him into a purse after all that trouble LOL. Sorry PETA
Animal hospitals don't treat humans. It's against the law. Get the facts.
Oh, and testing the fox for rabies means decapitating it and testing brain tissue.
In Phoenix, it was reported that when this woman got to the hospital, the animal control guy who tried to get the fox out of her trunk also got bit. So he's getting shots for rabies, too.
FYI an animal cannot be tested for rabies without being killed. it has to have its head cut off and sent to a lab for testing to determine if it has rabies or not.
Re: allthatjazz –
If it bit Perez, he would scream like a little girl and wait until an adult rescued him.
Re: vickichen3 –
i dont get why that is bizarre either. know foxes carry and transmit rabies, i would do the same thing. i mean, its not like she would be able to identify the fox if she saw it again, and its better for her to have done that than to have animal control go out there and destroy many other foxes because one "might" have rabies.
"Woman Runs With Fox As Accessory"…I like that, neat native name.
I'd done the same, fucking rabies!! less than 20 people in the world have survived from rabies!!
Hahaha! What a badass!
this happened to me with a monkey in gibraltar, it wouldnt let go from biting my arm, i had to take a swing at him ahhaha
who in there right mind catches a fox and brings it home…im baffled …maybe im just too much of a city girl….this shit is weird
Smart Woman. Really - she would've needed a full round of rabies shots if she didn't have the Fox tested. Multiple nine-inch needles through the abdomen into the stomach would NOT be pleasant.
Well, obviously the fox was rabid. Normally foxes won't get close enough to a human to bite, unless their young are in danger.
The rest of the story is that after she locked the fox in her trunk, he then bit the animal control person on the hand, and they both had to recieve rabies treatment!
Re: TORTEZ – Take your dogs inside, idiot. If you don't leave them outside 24/7 the bears can't get them. If you don't take them inside, why have them? Jerk.
Re: Bee420 – She didn't catch the fox to bring it home — she kept the fox with her so it could be tested for rabies. Which it probably had, because foxes usually don't attack humans without provocation unless they are sick.
this happend in prescott thats wear i live!!! how the hell did this get around the news to here
Re: tetzy – she did get the treatment…………ouch……..one of my biggest childhood fears was the rabies protocol
" When she went to grab the critter"
So she approached a wild animal.
What did she expect to happen? A tea party?
Poor decisions with hilarious consequences. Love it!
