President-elect Obama Makes His First Appointment
Soon-to-be-PRESIDENT Barack Obama isn't messing around.
He's already working hard to get things in order!
It was announced on Thursday that Illinois U.S. Congressman Rahm Emanuel will be the administration's chief of staff.
The LA Times reports that Mr. Emanuel previously served in Bill Clinton's White House and that experience will allow him to guide President-elect Obama on legislative strategy and the workings of the executive branch.
The newly named chief of staff is also known to be tough as nails and a guy who knows how to get shiz done.
Nice.
Interesting note, Rahm was the inspiration for the character Josh Lyman on The West Wing.
And, his brother is Hollywood super agent, Ari Emanuel, who inspired Jeremy Piven's character Ari Gold in Entourage.
Their momma must be so proud of her boys!

The appointment of Rahm Emanuel triggered widespread interest in Israel, the native country of his former Jewish underground fighter father.
The older Emanuel, a paediatrician born in Jerusalem, was a member of Irgun, the hard-line militant group which fought for Jewish independence until 1948.
It was described as "terrorist" at the time by Britain. Mr Emanuel's appointment could reassure Israel that Mr Obama will continue America's close alliance.
The Ynet news service quoted Michael Kotzin, a leader of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, as saying Mr Emanuel is a frequent attender at Israel-related events.

I can understand people hating Bush, but this whole housing/foreclosure crisis is not his fault, how about blaming the CEOs that fudge the books to get better bonuses and the shady mortgage brokers who gave people loans that they could not afford, and the stupid people that got loans knowing that they could not afford them and at the end just figured it was better to get foreclosed on than to have to actually pay the bill.

Explain to me why the Democrats in the committee killed all of the Bush administration's efforts to add stricter oversight and regulations on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Democrat Chris Dodd head of the Senate finance committee took advantage of the mortage crisis by refinancing his homes at an extra generous rate. Barney Frank Democrat in charge of the house finance committee said as early as July these two companies were sound and needed no stricter regulations. Saying the congress can't do anything because of Bush is nonsense, the Democrats were quite successful in blocking all attempts to add stricter regulations on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae which could have prevented their collapse. Great Job Dems, let's see what else you can screw up.
