Obama Stars In An HBO Movie

| Filed under: Film FlickersPolitikBarack Obama

With the recent election of Barack Obama as our new President, it was only a matter of time before they started to make movies about him.

And as it turns out, HBO has just closed a seven-figure deal for the U.S. right to a Barack documentary.

The still untitled piece will be produced by actor Edward Norton.

It seems Edward's Class 5 Films had approached the Obama campaign back in 2006 about creating a documentary chronicling his history in politics.

Directors were also granted access to film Obama before he launched his presidential campaign in 2007 and continued filming all the way through his victory this Tuesday.

Norton said, "Senator Obama's history-making race for the White House has given our film a perfect framework to explore the pulse of the country at this vital moment in our history."

As for HBO, they plan to air the documentary next year.

Can't wait to watch.

WTF ever…remember people CUBA voted for CHANGE 50 years ago….LOOK where they are at now. McCain was not a good choice, but he was better than this liberal. It is about so much more than voting to make historic changes concerning race. This person thinks he is Robin Hood, taking from the "rich" and giving to the "poor" . Translation, those of us who work will be taking care of those to are too LAZY to work. Socialized health care? Look at Canada, people come to the US to get medical attention. Race has absolutely nothing to do with why I did not vote for him. I am mixed myself, and married to a college education black man myself.

  40. 40

Everyone talks about Obama now, the news are crazy about him, where is Bush, nobody cares about that moron ;-)

  41. 41

Re: charmoll – What an idiot….your "threat" of not supporting Obama or gossip sites is ridiculous…..why, you ask…..well, because you STILL have an account on Perez's site, you're STILL commenting on a post about Obama, and you are indeed helping the same "enemy" you claim to hate: you're supporting ad sales revenue for Perez by coming to the site and counting as a hit on the page. Idiots…..when will any of you "haters" learn that by posting on a site you propose to hate, you're only helping them….

  42. 42

"a documentary chronicling his history in politics." It is going to be the world's shortest film if it is about his HISTORY in politics. WHAT HISTORY? What a joke.

  43. 43

Re: kimmyW – I like the way you think! :) Finally, an intelligent person!

  44. 44

Re: Kelsy – It's not about taking from the rich and giving to the poor…get your facts straight. People globally are losing jobs due to Bush's FAILED policies. My parents, for example, working middle to upper class before Bush…and now? MIddle slowly getting lower class…my dad has lost his job and my mom as well now settling to work for little money b/c of BUSH. What Obama wants to do is make Green Jobs available for people like my parents, and me (who has a job thanks)! …and might I add that my parents and I have college education, including a BA and a Masters! What he wants to do is tax the wealthy and lessen the tax for the middle class to poor (and no that does not mean they are lazy and jobless you ignorant ass) b/c that's all we can do b/c of the Failure Bush has given to the people!

  45. 45

Re: The World is Now a Scary Place – As for Obama's history…

He was a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the 1st African Amer to serve as Pres of the Harvard Law Review! He worked as a community organizer and practiced Civil Rights attorney before serving 3 terms in the Illinois Senate. He taught Constitutional Law at the U. of Chicago Law School for 12 years. He was elected to the Senate by a 70% of the vote in 2004. In the 109th Congress he helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of Federal Funds. He also helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism and care for returned US Military Personnel….

    Yup, no History at all…

  46. 46

Might I add that Bush only went to Yale b/c of Daddy's money and his high status. He received C's!!!!! ….only b/c Daddy's paid for Yale to pass him!!!

Explains a lot to why our country is in shambles!

  47. 47

Re: kimmyW – Just because it registers a hit if the product isnt bought they cant afford to advertise. But by posting comments my word is getting heard (for free) as you commented on what I had to say so you read and listened. By 2012 you will be claiming to have voted for McCain. This is actually good for the Republicans. I dont care if Obama was Jesus Christ he wont be able to fix things and he will soon be blamed.

  48. 48

Re: tm4peace – And Obama's education, travels, and campaigns have been paid for by radicals.

  52. 52

Re: charmoll – who's paid for the pig-fat injected into your lips? Your pimp?

  53. 53

Re: charmoll – If he does get blamed it b/c Republicans can't own up to their own mistakes…he is going to fix Bush's FAILED POLICIES as I've said before. Things are going to get worse before they get better b/c of again…Bush. Republicans and Conservatives will blame Obama b/c THEY CAN'T HANDLE IT BEING THEIR FAULT! Our country simply can't afford a Republican right now, and Obama will prove himself…you'll see. Obama is a strong, moralistic, smart, educated man….more than Bush ever was…just wait you ignorant ass. ..and NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WOULD I SAY I VOTED REPUBLICAN! For I am not a money-grubbing, selfish person! I have morals and values! I am proud and I stand by and back up my decisions. Funny b/c I know so many people that are ashamed that they voted for Bush, but they still admit it….they admit it in shame.

No one can possibly be worse than Bush…

Obama is the best person this country has seen in over 8 years!

  54. 54

Re: charmoll – …and McCain's campaign and Bush's years in office have all been supported by LOBBYISTS who have made the poor poorer and the rich richer….

…most of all Bush made his FRIENDS RICH! While the rest of the world suffers…just like a Republican…he only cares about himself. What a great, respectable guy I tell ya! ;)

  55. 55

Re: Penelope Palin – I have never had plastic surgery of any kind but I appreciate you hating on my lips. MUAH!

  56. 56

Re: harrybalsac – lol.. ignorant fuck.. guess if it was a documentary about McCain it would be The Hillbillies pt.2

  57. 57

Re: tm4peace – You should educate yourself better a mjaority of the blame Bush has taken was due to Clinton. As you stated most of what a president does wont affect until he is out of office. So yet again you are showing that I am right this is the best for republicans. If Obama does happen to improve it wont show until he is out of office and with things getting worse he should be out of office sooner rather than later and of course the next president will be republican simply because the blame will be on the dems.

  58. 58

    Obama is great

TO team4peace. GET YOUR FACTS straight, your parents have masters, fantastic, that is wonderful, so do I, in Journalism, what does that get me? Just like them, not much. But what about you? WHAT HAVE YOU ACCOMPLISHED? If know so much about Mr. Obama, and YOU MADE MY POINT EXACTLY, HE WAS ELECTED IN 2004!!!!!!!!!!! What does he fucking stand for? WHO THE HELL KNOWS, he was never involved in anything to do with running this country, he started his campaigning not to long thereafter. You forgot to mention all of his associates who he spent his time lying about associating with, or believing their views about this country. I COULD CARE LESS HOW MUCH EDUCATION HE HAS, IT DOES NOT MEAN HE KNOWS HOW TO RUN A COUNTRY. Bush fucked up, you are so right. BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE OBAMA THE BEST CHOICE.

  60. 60

Re: charmoll – lips? Pardon me, I thought that was a baboon's ass the first time around….

  61. 61

Re: charmoll – Your picture shows how much of a brain you have.

  62. 62

Re: charmoll – You're contradicting yourself. If everyone 'knows' that the effects don't show (which is not true) after they are out of office than everyone WOULD know that it WAS Bush's fault! If it was Clinton's fault than you would have seen the repercussions way sooner than we have. This is the worst financial situation this country has seen in over a century, and maybe if you weren't so ignorant you would see that it is the Repulican people's and their leaders fault! You're all the same. Selfish, ignorant and blind and unopen to any change. Obama will be in office for the next 8 years and pick up all of Bush's little failed pieces.

I'm out of here! I hope you all have a lovely day!!!! ;)

  63. 63

Re: Kelsy – One last comment. You just proved how much Palin would have contributed to our country with ALL of her History in politics…

At least Obama has an education and was a teacher rather than a beauty queen 2nd place title, college drop out, sportscaster!

  64. 64

Re: tm4peace – 45 - Ummm, that is not a history in politics. That is a history of teaching. He has 3 actual YEARS in politics. Woo hoo. Some history.

  65. 65

Re: Kelsy – …and if we didn't know what he stood for…no one would have voted for him….if you have paid any attention through debates, interviews and speeches…you should know what he stands for. Education(which Rep never care about), The Economy (1st and foremost), Cutting Taxes, Getting out of Iraq, Energy….need I go on? McCain would have just kept the same old Bush tactics and failed us even more (and may I say that I like McCain and it wouldn't be his fault…it's Bush's)

    Have a great weekend!

  66. 66

Re: Penelope Palin – See thats the problem with people like you. I act respectfully and you act like a baboom. I have not once been disrespectful to anyone on here nor their candidate. So this just proves that people like you shouldnt have the right to vote. Grow up!

  67. 67

Re: Kelsy – Who the fuck cares, who he had associated with back and the day. Let guess, next your going to talk about how his name sounds like a terrorist name. Sorry but everyone cant be named "JESSICA, AND BECKY, OR JOHN and GREG" . GET OVER IT!

  68. 68

Re: tm4peace – "Obama, who ran on a platform of change and a message of bipartisonship, has tapped a washington insider with a reputation of hardball politics to run his white house staff"
Already signs that what you voted for in Hussein Obama is not what he truly stans for and will continue to "CHANGE" his views and actions that he so proudly vowed to you would come true if he was elected. You got what you voted for CHANGE!

  69. 69

Re: charmoll – I'm back b/c I wanted to say one thing…with all respect…thanks for the good debating. It's very enlightening, whether we agree or not, that there are still American's out there that are just as smart and passionate about what they stand for (especially w/out the name calling and badgering). I thank you for that. Hope to debate with you soon!

  70. 70

I was at a rally for Obama right before he was elected, and after the speech, he shook my hand, looked me right in the eyes, and said "How are you doing?" I thought he could see my soul, his eyes were so penetrating. My clothes almost fell off. I was so starstruck, all I could think to say was "Thank youl" Duh! Hopefully he will have this commanding presence with other world leaders (but their clothes should stay on).

  71. 71

Re: PeanutMuffin – I'm bored so I guess I'll stay on til I have to finish some work! :)

    That's amazing….

….and too funny! I'm glad your clothes stayed on!!!!!

  72. 72

Re: tm4peace – I couldnt agree with you more and thank you. Look forward to debating again. :)

  73. 73

Re: kitten poo – Yeah, Obama looks like an ape I fed a banana to at the zoo last week. Unfortunately for all of us, his intelligence matches his looks. Horrific.

  74. 74

Re: tm4peace – If your family is as educated as you say they are, then your father should have NO problem finding a new job. Stop complaining wa wa wah, whining and get to work you fucking idiot.

  75. 75

Re: charmoll – Maybe we should run against each other! haha!

  76. 76

And with all the attention that SNL is getting, they still don't say much about having a white guy play Obama. They should have had noted African-American impressionist Alec Baldwin do it. Or at least Tracy Morgan.

The mutual starfucking between Barack and Mickey and the stars is very comforting.

  77. 77

Gas is under $2 a gallon in some places today- NOT because of Obama.
The Iraqis are free- NOT because of Obama.
More African aid has been sent in the past 8 years than ever in the history of the USA- NOT because of Obama.
The credit market is in a disastrous state- NOT because of Bush but because of Carter, Clinton, Cisneros and Barney Frank.

there is NO change- just the return of the clinton administration. See? Hillary got elected after all.

  78. 78

Re: mrsjet – My father was a Music Education teacher and retired, but due to Bush's policies he doesn't receive enough money for hs retirement. He has his own film company, which is currently in it's beginning stages and was working for Comcast on the filming side. He is doing what he loves behind the camera and Comcast is shutting down their small businesses everywhere. That is not his fault. I was not bitching, I was backing up my beliefs with facts. You on the other hand have no real argument besides 'fuck you' and 'get to work.' I'm lucky to have a great job and still be making money…pardon me if I like to take some time to debate these issues w/ REAL facts. Thanks for showing everyone how uneducated and ignorant you are. :)

  79. 79

Re: tm4peace – We would probably do a better job! I consider myself closer to middle of the row and I think thats a better than far left or right.

  80. 80

Re: mrsjet – It is not as easy as you think to just get a job…even if you do have a degree, you are by far the least educated person in this room. Go ahead…back up your side by calling me names and everyone else here. I'm sure the people that I have been debating w/ all day would even back me up.

  81. 81

Re: Cherry Bomb – Your smart and funny! excellent comment

  82. 82

Re: tm4peace – I have to agree that debating is good but if you cant back up you rhetoric with something more of substance then name calling then it weakens your argument. Trust me I am using all sort of explatives but I think my argument stands stronger without me sharing them. So lets debate but not belittle ourself and our argument by being immature.

  83. 83

    Re: charmoll – Absolutely….agreed.

  84. 84

Re: Cherry Bomb – I just have to say that I hope you don't think that Obama supporters think that he has lowered gas, set Iraqis free, etc…that's a silly accusation if you think so. I know it's sarcasm, but it's outrageous. If you that Bush had nothing to do w/ the market you're just as blind as the rest of them. I'm not saying that past presidents, Dem and Rep, didn't have anything to do w/ it, but it's Bush that has been in office for the past 8 years. This is what I think of Bush…

Spent a surplus and bankrupted the treasury.
Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history.
Set economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period.
Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market.
First president in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.
First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in U.S. history.
After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history.

  85. 85

Re: Cherry Bomb – I could go on if you want me too…

  86. 86

Re: tm4peace – The fact is America's problems arent just one person's fault. I completely understand although dont agree with those who are so radically against Bush. But when I ask those who voted for Obama what if they are wrong no one seemed to take that into consideration. They just hated Bush so much and I think fell in love with the idea of "making history" they never considered they were wrong. I just wish we had a third choice in the matter. I honestly dont think any republican could have been elected even if it was God up their campaigning. So you hate Hitler so much you vote in Rasputin? Thats what doesnt make sense to me. Before you all go off on me it was just an example I am not comparing either to Hitler or Rasputin. What if Obama turns out to be everyone's worst fear then what? The one thing I know about McCain is his love for this country and right or wrong I know he would never do anything to hurt his country and what beliefs this country was founded on. I think the appointment of "Rhambo" is a perfect example of how Obama does his politics. He uses his pitbull to do the dirty work. And all the kids who went out and voted for the first time for Obama I wonder if they like the fact that now "Rhambo" wants anyone from 18-23 to be drafted into public service? I enjoyed my college years immensely not sure I would like the president I elected to draft me into doing anything.

  87. 87

I'd love to see a documentary or biography about Obama! However, I'm disappointed to see HBO is making it. I don't get that channel so I won't be able to see it unless they put it out on DVD :(

  88. 88

Re: charmoll – Pardon me while I dismount from the chandelier…it must have been a knee-jerk reaction to your republican prattle.

  89. 89

Re: charmoll – I will try and sum this up as quickly as possible b/c I have to get out of here…

I am not radically against Bush, but I have never stood for what he believes in regardless of what he has done for this country, good and bad. I mean he can't be a complete moron if he has been president for the past 8 years. It is absolutely not one persons fault, and no the pres does not make ever single decision, but there are SO many wrong decisions and decisions that have backfired on him and tactics that are just immoral and he is by far the most selfish president we have ever had. This is how I feel and I stick to my guns. As I have said before it was his goal to make himself richer, and his friends, meanwhile ignoring the plummeting economy and HIS people that he is supposed to be protecting…the only people he knows how to protect are the ones closest to him…friends and family. That is despicable. Regardless of the Democratic candidate, you're right, they would have won b/c Americans need to see another change. For the past 8 years and beyond Republicans have been giving this country a bad name. You can't say that Obama uses his pit bull to do his dirty work. I'm not sure if you keep up on your Obama politics, but he is a man of the people and sticks by his word and gets his hands dirty…more than Bush has done, yes already. OK, this is long and I have to run. Debate w/ you later!!!

  90. 90

Re: charmoll – Last thing…what about all of the 'kids' who felt that it was there duty to join the military, go over to Iraq or Afghanistan, because Bush declared war, came home in a box? If it wasn't for him they would still be alive b/c they didn't feel like they had to fight for our country. Ok, I'm done….

    Have a nice weekend :)

  91. 91

Re: Penelope Palin – You forgiven! ;) Muah!

  92. 92

ill watch it and then ill probably buy the dvd when it comes out

  93. 93

I dont know Bush personally so I can't say what he was thinking or what his intentions were. I agree he made some mistakes. But I dont feel he has done anything outstanding to where I can judge his morals. I am selfish as are you. We choose our candidates for our own personal reasons and that in itself is selfish. No one is for war thats ridiculous. And I know I am about to be attacked for this BUT now that we are in Iraq I want the oil to pay us back. We didnt get paid back for the last world war and I expect to be paid back for this one. Lets face it bottom line the Irag's are better off now. I have to be honest Obama scares me. Bottom line. I am honestly waiting for the jack in the box to pop out laughing and say ha ha ha you voted for me now I am going to show you what I am really about. You are eloquent in your words but you still havent answered my question…..what if you are wrong about Obama?

  94. 94

Re: kitten poo – nig ger lover. he's a big eared baboon and you are a fucking stench

  95. 95

Re: tm4peace – and mostly, he was elected because he's a nig ger. come on admit it you know you want to.

  96. 96

Back- The same question can be asked about Bush. What if you were wrong about him? Well, for the most part we were proved wrong that he would do any good for this country. So as for your question. The only thing we can do as Americans is wait until he takes office and see what he does. If I am wrong than what was our other option? Another Republican? No. We simply cannot afford that, and you think the worst thing we can do is have a Democrat in office? We are Americans and we have based this country around unity and change and adaptation. We had to adapt to Bush, and IF Obama is the wrong choice we will have to adapt to that as well. I have to be honest and say that I don't think anyone could do any worse. You can't be scared. As an American you need to swallow your pride and if you love this country as much as you seem to do…back our president and take the ride. You can voice your opinion as much as you want, but you have to take pride and stick together to make this a better place. There is nothing to be afraid of. Just b/c he is black and his name is Barack Hussein Obama…you can't be afraid. With everything that I have read and heard, he is a stand up guy, honest, people person, educated, moralistic, valued, and proud to be an American and won't do anything short of doing what is the absolute best for this country that he possibly can.

  97. 97

    will be amazing

  98. 98

Re: charmoll – So If I'm wrong….than our country has a pretty bad judgment of character don't we? We didn't just vote b/c he is black and he is a Democrat. We believed in him. It was unlikely that a Rep would be in office, but hey…McCain is a stand up, smart guy too, and it was close, but like I said….we can't afford it. Even McCain knew we were ready for change.

  99. 99

Re: Penelope Palin – no your nig ger momma paid for her lips you dumb leftist bitch

you fucking idiots have brought racism back from the dead. should've quit pushing so fucking hard, now you will all pay

  100. 100

Re: tm4peace – yeah asswipe you all voted for him, you bought into him just like a fucking four year old wants shitty cereal cause there's fucking tigers in the commercial. you bought into it cause he's a nig ger, he talks real pretty and you're fucking stupid. no brains.
