Depends on who you're asking; there isn't one universal reason. Believers in Christ are against it because the Bible preaches that. I have several reasons myself why I do not support it. Firstly, I don't think homosex is a life choice; it is an abnormality that flows from a brain malfunction [see my post at 330/page 4]. This could flow into a demand for equality by all sectors of the mentally-handicapped community; 3-way marriages, sibling marriages, parent/adult child marriages. Also, it is a reality that governments operate on a trickle-system; where offspring contribute to the tax base when their aging parents begin to draw on it. If you are paying spousal benefits in homosex marriages, there will be no offspring to replenish it, so the tax system would crash in subsequent generations. The primary reason for spousal benefits is because the female usually takes on the unpaid role of childcare, whereas homosex partners could both be lifetime wage-earners. I actually do support same gender unions. I believe all consenting adults are entitled to love and live with whoever they choose. They should not be classified as marriageable, because they cannot entirely come together as one. To come together as one, in the human being scheme of nature, would be to pro-create.

The "alleged" original Bible was "supposedly" translated from Hebrew and Greek to Latin, English and then all the other languages. Conversions between languages are never fully descriptive or literal. There was a revision of the KJV in 1952, and it was reworked again in 1972. A New Revised Standard Version was released in 1990. There have been so many revisions and non-literal translations of this Book over so many thousands of years, it is difficult to understand why so many people would willingly accept the authenticity of every specific mention. As well, every group that has revised the various versions of the Bible, over time, all documented the revisions according to their combined "personal interpretations" of what was actually meant. I think it is safe to say that many people can look at the same thing, and have a different "interpretation" of what they think that is, so the Bible is really not "God's Word", as it is presented now. This is one of the reasons why there are so many different denominations of Christianity; because each faith "interprets" specific meanings differently. There is no singluar Bible, but rather, more like a revised screenplay by multiple editors.

You can googal any string of words from any of his articles, and you will find that they were posted, word-for-word, by other websites before the link to Perez. This push is similar to a purge. It is a hostile action against an organized religion. I wouldn't advise gays to continue down this path. Especially against the powerful LDS Church. I have always enjoyed Perez's site, but I can guarantee that with his closemindedness, and blaming my religion for the antigay bill passing I will not be back to this site!
mormons have just as much of a right to donate to a cause as hollywood actors. mormons are standing up for what they believe in too. i disagree with them but point your finger at all the idiots that were scared off by the misleading adds. we all have a responsibility to educate ourselves. read the props word for word and form your own opinions.

Funny that we're talking about a group of people who were widely criticized for encouraging polygamy (having multiple wives) for a large portion of their religous history…and many fundamentalist Mormons still secretly practice polygamy in parts of Utah, the Northern U.S., Canada…Where in the Constitution does it say freedom is only reserved for those with the pocketbook to support it?

I am no longer speaking to him because I can't stand that idea. I accept everyone with no prejudice, because that's how I was raised. I love my mom.

I don't think you sound mean at all. And I absolutely respect your right to choose your own faith and beliefs. My problem with that, is that I do not believe that Christians are exercising their own thoughts and beliefs, but rather, are accepting whatever they are told by the Christian heirarchy. You don't question the nonsense aspects. Seriously, do you really believe that a human body can naturally survive for 700 years? To answer your question about how I believe it is that we come to this earth; I don't claim to have the answers. I do not dispute the possibility of a supreme entity, however, I do not accept the Christian explanation of what that supreme entity is, because it is not sensible or proveable.
