Sad news.
The winner of the 2008 World's Ugliest Dog Contest has passed away.
Gus was a pedigree Chinese crested dog from St. Petersburg, Florida.
He was missing an eye, one leg, and was almost hairless.
Unfortunately, the 9 year-old pooch was suffering from cancer.
Gus was originally rescued from a home where he was being kept inside a crate in someone's garage.
His adoptive family says Gus lost his leg after it had to be amputated due to a skin tumor and he lost his eye in a cat fight.

As for Gus' owner, she had said the prize money from the contest was going to be used for his radiation treatment.
Poor pooch.
Rest in peace, Gus!!!!

Poor Gus– he looks like half the celebatards you have pictured on this site. before their plastic surgeons work their magic. i watched the ugly dog contest last year on the Pet channel. This was by far the ugliest, and i think he was repeat winner for a number of years. time for change at the fricking ugly dog contest as well.

aww poor gus .. =( i have Chinese Crested too.. but he is a powder puff so he has lots of hair so he doesnt look so ugly but sometimes he is.. but hes such a great dog.. chinese crested's are really sweet and friendly.

I can't believe no one said how GROSS this dog looked.
