Global delivery company DHL announced today that they will be slashing 9,500 jobs as it discontinues air and ground operations within the United States.

What's next? DHL is much cheaper and better than UPS or FedEx. I got a bonus for picking them as our carrier and lowering all our shipping costs. Now, I have to go back to UPS who charges more and their customer service people are not nearly as nice.

I tell you what, Perez, if you keep posting this depressing crap on Monday mornings, I will quit reading…Until Tuesday.

I am not surprised.. every time I get a package delivered by DHL, it is either banged up, delivered to the wrong house, or lost. Don't blame this one on the economy, blame it on their shitty service.

I am really appalled at some of the comments that have been posted about how DHL sucks….. Did anyone stop to read the post to know that 9500 people are losing their jobs? Does anyone realize that most of those jobs are coming from 1 town? A town that has no other local jobs? I hope that you are thankful for what you have and helping others who dont.

Goody! I worked for those jack asses for 6 years loading air freight at their (then) CVG Hub and they treated everyone like crap! Plus, it's a wonder more planes didn't crash because I saw people in charge of weight and balance for the planes snorting coke at the weight and balance scales.

I am actually from Wilmington, Ohio. This situation is devistating. there are only 12,000 people that reside in the city alone, and 8,000 jobs are being cut. In this town it is a common joke that everyone who lives there must work at "DHL, ABX" at some point in their lives. Unless you are bad at math this means 3/4 of the people from Wilmington and surrounding areas are about to lose their jobs. I know SEVERAL families that BOTH parents work at DHL, what are they supposed to do? Whether or not you have a problem with DHL themselves, think about all of these people who will lose EVERYTHING. In Wilmington, there really is NO WHERE else to go. No matter what had happened in this election or who was voted in, no one gets a "magic wand" to fix this. Both sides of this election promised the people that Ohio was going to be a focus, lets see if they really mean it. And either way, no president's focus is on a small town in the middle of Ohio.
