Twilight's Robert Pattinson Ignites Massive Mayhem in San Fran

| Filed under: AnglophiliaFilm FlickersWacky, Tacky & TrueRobert Pattinson

Holy mayhem!

We received a ton of emails this morning from super upset Twilight fans.

Apparently, British hawtness Robert Pattinson was scheduled to do a fan meet-and-greet tonight, Monday evening, at a San Francisco-area Hot Topic as part of a promotion campaign for the Twilight movie.

However, due to event mismanagement, the event's been cancelled!

A Twilight fan was whisked away in an ambulance because she was crushed by the poorly managed crowd.

Here's Perezcious reader Amanda Nicole's eyewitness account:

Rob's stop in San Francisco was cancelled this morning. All because the people at the front of the line did not want to form a line. They crowded the malls entrance, police were called, and the whole event was cancelled and it will not be rescheduled. Even as it was announced that the event was cancelled, people still continued to stay in line. 1000+ people were in line for only 500 wristband that would allow you to meet Rob this evening. The tour is sponsored by Hot topic.

Police would not allow the mall to open until everyone cleared out. They were probably scared that people would rush Hot Topic. The whole situation was utterly ridiculous. The event was not organized and people would just pull up in their cars and cut in front of the hundreds of people who had been in line. Some waited since before 5am. The problem centered around the "mosh pit" environment at the front of the mall. People were being pushed up against glass doors and the risk for injury was very high from what I saw.

And the event was at a relatively small mall right across from the SFSU campus.

I would tell everyone attending the other stops, be careful. When security tells you to move back, move back. They are not joking around and will cancel the event.

We hope shiz is sorted out for the upcoming tour stops.

And, it SUCKS that San Fran fans were screwed over!

poor guy hates the way people act towards him now.. all insane like.. he mentioned how he would be ok with people coming up to him and talking to him, but the fact that they scream and go insane freaks him out.. i guesss thats why he acts in so many small movies instead of big screens.. which is what he thought twilight would be, before realizing how many females love his character! oops, but still we all love that he is edward

    That's so bobo.

  4. 4

ps. its kind of funny that it got cancelled.. people blame it on the fans not cooperating.. but lets face it, he probably couldnt get there.. hes a busy man now!

  5. 5

That's b/c SF is full of ASSHOLES!

  6. 6

More people got out of line when the event was canceled at this one place than the total number of people who showed up to see Perez's FAILED clothing line @ Hot Topic.

  7. 7

This is exactly why I left the Twilight fandom, among the storyline going to shit in the third and fourth book and Stephanie Meyer acting like a brat. Those fans are nuts- the hardcore ones can barely be reasoned with. Part of me wishes this movie would bomb so I wojuldn't have to deal with those screeching loonies any longer.

  8. 8

    That sucks…poor little twilight addicts

    Re: Pwn3d!
I don't see how this has to do with Twatlight.

That's too bad! I hope the other locations don't go nuts like this!

  11. 11

    i loove him.
Although it sucks that he is constantly being stalked by fan girls.

  13. 13

Re: megacola – so true, the fourth book was a joke.. she shouldnt have been able to get prenant.. he is stone, so either he has a boner 24/7 or never gets one.. its not possible for him to ejaculate, if he cant even cry or anything he is stone. so dumb! and the fact that people are that bsessed is pathetic! not to mention these people are just acting the part they are not the real thing lol wow people are dumb

  14. 14

We need the disclaimer from Friday to warn all the fuckin' foreigners that the Americans on here are bunch of foul mouth motherfuckers!

  15. 15

wow all this for the pasty kid? Damn ok im intrigued now I gotta see whats the big hoopla over this movie…If it sucks I will be here blasting away on it

  16. 16

    poor people

  19. 19

Wow…I was going to go to that this morning, so good thing I didn't. I can't believe people are being that crazy! Crazy 13 year old fan girls+7 am on a Monday morning=disaster

  20. 20

Perez you should do a post about the hot guy from True Blood Ryan Kwanten who plays the brother omg he's a banger…..

  21. 21

LOL…we get crazy here in bay!!!!!!!!! YAY YAY!!!!!!!!

  22. 22

Re: Listen To Mayday Parade – Hello, not everyone has read the fourth book yet.

How but not spoiling it, kthnx.

  23. 23

This better not happen in Boston! '

Do you hear me, bitches??? BE FUCKING COOL!

  24. Fia says – reply to this

RUN ROB RUN! I don't think Rob is obligated to meet fanatics who can't form a simple line, c'mon Kindergarteners can do that. When a 7 year old asks you to bite her, you would want to question the mental state of your fan base.

  25. 25

you have to be one giant dumbass to stand hours in line to see any celebutard… LOSERSSSSS!

  26. 26

    Re: Listen To Mayday Parade
I'm not against the existance of dhampires- I actually like it. But it was how Meyers handled it. I think the only good part of Breaking Dawn was when she was being ripped apart from her baby.

However, I became against the books when they named her Renesme. I mean, come on… how Mary Sue is that?

  27. 27

  28. 28

Ugh I don't get it. Can someone please explain his appeal to me? In every photo I have seen of him he looks like a homeless guy who's about 10 seconds away from asking me for a dollar. I don't get it. Would people care as much if he was playing Jasper instead? I doubt it.

  29. 29

Over 3000 fans were there at the crack of dawn for thew wrist bands. Madness. The local news is saying a girl got her nose broken and a numbers were crushed/battered and bruised. They said it was liek the beatles arriving when Rob was at Comic con but its getting insane now. He'll run home to the UK at this rate.

  30. 30

this happened literally 100 ft. from my house and i didn't see anything. no one in SF cares that much about twilight, and if they do, they came from so-cal or something.

  31. 31

This movie is going to be HUGE! My kids and tons more at school love these books and they all plan to see the movie when it opens at MIDNIGHT! There will be big crowds to see this flick. These books are all the rage, so the movie will do even better. I told my kids though… movies are rarely better then the book… CAUTION.

  32. 32

oh shiz. that sucks butt-hole. i would have been pissed the fuck off if some dumb little whores rolled up in their mom's SUV and tried to cause some shit in front of me while I was waiting in line. they would have been slapped. they would have a hand print marked on their faces for life. and i dont even like this douche bag…

  33. 33

am I the only person who just doesnt give a shit about this movie?

  34. 34

oh my… I was going to drive to San Fran just for this… good thing I didn't!
damn… I wonder how Rob feels about this-having being flown to San Fran, for no reason now, not to mention how crazy some of his fans are!!

  35. 35

    Re: sleezy*e
You go onto an open forum, where there are no basic rules with people commenting left and right, and you expect people to relent their opinions because you weren't prepared?

I understand common curtousy, but really. Did you expect more from the commenting section of a gossip site?

  36. 36

  37. 37

    Re: smeary
I used to, but I've since left the fandom and have no real desire to see it. You're not missing anything.

  38. 38

Yeah the local news said 3000 plus which is mental at such a time of day. Rob must be going out of his mind lately. How the hell is he coming to terms with this in a few short months.

  39. 39

Complete madness when you think it wasnt anywhere near the time he would be there. People have still tried to queue up the rest of the day incase he turns up. Rob must be very shaken.

  40. 40

woo hoo sfsu shoutout! I can believe there would be that many people there. you think they would have had some type of line barrier to situate people! whatev. now my day is freed up. no battling crowds of teen girls to see a guy that im not even into. haha

  41. 41

Re: megacola – I'm sorry, did I demand something you're incapable of? I asked a fan of the series not to reveal spoilers, I don't give a shit about their opinion.

  42. 42

It was pretty bad organization. I was there and we tried to do what the security said but it's hard when u are in the middle of a line and they are asking you to move back and the people behind you are not moving. Hopefully they learned their lesson and realize how crazy girls can be and be a bit more organized for the other event sites. There were little girls crying as they were being ushered away by their angry mothers complaining to security! It was pretty fun but also sad.
C'mon girls he is just a regular guy and he is probably not going to ask for your hand in marriage!

  43. 43

this is really sadd, poor robert.
I have been in love with him since harry potter

  44. 44

Fans of WHAT??? Waiting for WHO???

  45. 45

I'm going to see him tomorrow, I want my poster signed, shake his hand, and that is about it. I'm 26 years old. I don't understand those people who go to these things FREAKING out. He's just a normal person with a job. Poor guy….I'll be sure to take lots of pictures for you tomorrow PEREZ!!

  46. 46

I was thinking about heading out the Galleria tomorrow because he is going to be in Dallas…but after this. Hell to the NO. I'm a 29 year old chick who would just be happy saying, "Hey Rob." This screaming and crying bullshit is whack. I mean really? He won't even remember any of you sobbing dumbasses. I WAS going to take plenty of pics for P-Nasty but I'm surely not taking my happy ass out there at no 5am. Eff that.

  47. 47

Dude, this is what happens when Rob's hotness is summoned to a two bit mall. Get the dude a stadium people! His hotness needs a stadium, not a hot topic store! Bad idea, summit people, I could have told you that RP wasn't meant for a mall tour!

  48. 48

OMG When are the PR people going to realize they are dealing with a mega superstar and get some proper event sites with some control on the crazy fan situation? Oh well, sucks for San Fran, but at least maybe some good will come from it…Rob will get a night off to sleep and shower ;) hee hee hee!! We love you ROB!!!!!

  49. 49

  50. 50

it was all the mall and hot topic's fault! a couple thousand of people were there! it was insane! and there was 1 security guard trying to organize it all out.

how was the mall not ready for this!?

so many disappointed and angry fans. people came as far as HAWAII! 4 NOTHING!

i am so pissed off! and so is everyone else.

the police, fire department, and the news was there, helicopters, it was crazy.

  51. 51

I'm pretty sure they cancelled the whole tour because of this, I just can't believe that they didn't know that tons of people would show up lol I mean come on! They had to have had a plan for this XD

  52. 52

Re: cooliokaila – if you came all the way from Hawaii to see this guy..you might be an idiot hahahahahhahaha

  53. 53

i'd line up to meet him :)

  54. 54

It wasn't even that crazy. There was a shit ton of people and it was basically ridiculous.
    FUCK YOU, ROBERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  55. 55

Helicopters?! That's crazy. About half the girls in my first class were missing because of this thing.

Double woohoo for the SFSU shoutout!

  56. 56

I'm glad it was cancelled. If people cannot control themselves enough to obey police and securities' direct orders, then it is arguable that they are a danger to themselves and to others. I'm certain that Mr. Pattinson would feel awfully responsible for any and all injuries/deaths that may potentially arise as a result of him being forced, by the Twilight marketing team, to make such a public appearance.

  57. 57

    Re: megacola
I completely agree with you! I really hope this movie bombs. I've seen bits and pieces of it that were leaked on internet and let me tell you… it sucks. The acting is atrocious. Kristen Stewart looks like she's reading off of cue cards the entire time. Ashley Greene and Jackson whoever (Alice and Jasper) are horrendous as well. Unfortunately since the books are so big, the movie will be too. It won't even matter how horrible it is. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the books (except I totally agree with you about Breaking Dawn and her getting pregnant. That made NO sense), but the movie will suck.

  58. 58

Re: mollymouse – you got that right. waking up @ five is crazy enough for me but coming from Hawaii, that's just insane

  59. 59

My god, people! Calm yourselves! Thank god the Seattle one didn't go crazy like that! I showed up half an hour before doors opened and there were only about 350 people ahead of me. You can be a fangirl without being stupid about it.

  60. 60

    Re: sleezy*e
I'm not sure how to appropriately answer you're question, as there was no clear objective I supposedly never met. Again, you're on a public forum, you know what's going to be said. You're telling me you didn't know people would be revealing spoilers?

It's a failure on your own part.

  61. 61

glad i didnt go… even though i really wanted to see him!

  62. 62

This was the first scheduled stop of the Hot Topic Tour. Wanna bet the rest are cancelled? I was there and it was insane. No mall security can handle this sort of crowd….

  63. 63

OMG I'M GOING TO CRY!! I'll be freaking PISSED if they cancel the philly one. PISSED!

  64. 64

No… What sucks is that people cannot contain themselves… Seriously, he is a PERSON… Albeit yes, he is attractive but still come on people! Give the guy some space!

  65. 65

it sucked SO bad police apparently don't know how to rope off a line and count to 500 lol my friends and i went and when it got canceled we just hung out in SF luckily we live 20 minutes away i just feel bad for the people that came from Hawaii and Arizona :( and yeah it was nuts. if everyone just calmed down there would be 500 happy twilight fans instead of 3,000 pissed off ones.

  66. 66

I agree… this is absolutely insane! He's a person just like the rest of us… all these screaming and crying fans are out of control!!!! The Twilight series was awesome! The movie will be good, no doubt, but in no way as good as the book. And I also agree with some of you about Breaking Dawn. I was super disappointed in the direction that took…

  67. 67

Re: megacola – Ha, a failure. Maybe you should have a little more faith in the readers of Perez. I don't think it's too much to ask for someone to perhaps give warning before they go spoiling something. I'm so TERRIBLY sorry if I somehow offended you for asking that of someone you may or may not know.

  68. 68

You fans are such losers! I hope this movie bombs big time
Run for your life Rob! RUN!

  69. 69

    Oh my…

  70. 70

    hot topic sucks

  71. 71

It wasn't the fans fault so much as poor organization. HOw hard was it to anticipate that Robert's appearance would cause a good number of people to show up? To a mall of all places? Where was proper security and organziers to figure all the logistics out for a sizeable crowd? Who in the hell would have honestly thought Robert would show up and get a crowd oflike 50, just patiently waiting in line?
INSANE how poor organized this was.

  72. 72

I was out there and I spoke with a security guard later in the day…he said they really did not anticipate this crowd…he said they were expecting maybe 250-300, and hoping for 500 (which was the limit)…they problem didn't expect the twilight mom's OR have it in their mind that a MAJORITY of schools had today off…plus, stonestown is across the street from an ALL GIRL'S Catholic High School, 2 blocks from SF State, and up the hill from Lowell High School…I did go to see I could meet him — definitely wasn't a crazy there at 4pm YESTERDAY (Sunday) afternoon…nor was I there at midnight…I also didn't fly in from Hawaii, Montana, Washington, Nevada…or even Los Angeles, to see him…I live here…but apparently others felt the need…it was definitely a crazy site…and I am one of the 500 to buy a tour shirt & will be getting tonight a signed (well, supposed to be) poster after Hot Topic opened..the world is not gonna be over because I didn't meet him — soooo many more important things in the world to stress & worry about than this!! And this definitely was NOT worth a fractured/broken ankle…asthma attacks…fainting…AND BROKEN NOSES…

  73. 73

Re: Northshore – Yeah, poor organization indeed…There's an Apple Store there & they had barricades set up for the release of the 3G iPhone…you would've thought they'd think ahead to that sort of detail…if it's "just" 500 people…also…mall security…at least the ONE dude they had…had NO control over the crowd whatsoever! which is also why the police were called in…*sigh* it actually became quite funny the scene afterwards…girls were, mothers, fathers, etc. were all in shock & still didn't believe it was canceled after Hot Topic rep told them so & the mall security & the SFPD….so, that entertained my camera :)

  74. 74

I was there this morning as well. My friends and I got there around 6:30, with them being scheduled to start selling shirts and wristbands to allow access to the signing at 8. The signing was supposed to be at 6PM-8PM. As soon as we pulled up, we noticed the HUGE line of people, a lot of them clustered at the front. We got in line, and just waited it out. The Rent-A-Cops they had there had NO IDEA what they were doing. There was no set line or anything, which GUARANTEED chaos. There was cutting, pushing, shoving, cursing, and you get the general idea. Thankfully, we were towards the back of the line and away from the madness. The only thing that really happened to us was being told to move back to make way for all the people who were cutting in front. It was just absolute mayhem.

He hadn't even flown to SF when they made the call to tell him not to come. That was around 7:30AM, but, interestingly, there are still diehard fans lining up outside the mall at 3PM, even though it is canceled. Crazy, crazy, crazy… He probably doesn't even WANT to come now, because of all the madness. Why can't people realize he's just another normal guy with a job that just happens to make him famous?

Oh, and to the other fans who were planning on seeing him at a later date, I HIGHLY doubt all the stops are canceled. Hot Topic would lose a ton of money by canceling them all. They lost the upside of $15,000 just by canceling the one today.

  75. 75

this is the most un legit story ever
i was there, and it was all hot topics fault, they didn't even have anyone out there until 7
they had absolutely no plans or organization, and the cops actually got there BEFORE they did.
    hella sucks

  76. 76

Re: megacola – valid point, naming the baby that was insane.. the onyl part of that book l liked were the first 6 chapters before she got pregnant, and then when jacob imprinted on the baby! but i still dont think she should have ever gotten prgnent.. at least the fifth book is just twilight repeated through edwards eyes!

  77. 77

Re: sleezy*e – Hmm the books have been out for a long time now… I guess I just assumed everyone reading the stuff on this site directly related to the interest of Twilight would have read all the books. No more spilers, promise.. Although there ae no rules, and its easier to get other opinions from this site because others have read it and actually read the comments!

  78. 78

Re: Amour7287 – Thank you for agreeing with the stupid pregnancy! The books were phenomenal up to that point.. I mean i kept reading, but come on.. It all added up befoe that happened!!

I honestly think the movie will be awful, so many things are different from the book that its stupid.. The alley scene, where Edward gets out of the car and says "Get in" to bella.. No the point of the book is she sees the Silver Volvo and just knows! The movie will bomb in everyones eyes.. Especially if they have read the books. I hope at least.

Also when she says he is a campire.. That happens in the car coming back from Port Angeles not in the forest. UGH!

  79. 79

hey! STONESTOWN!! its MY mall and….who is robert pattinson?

  80. 80

Twilight is taking over the world hahahA

  81. 81

umm, i was there, in the "mosh pit" and there was NOTHING we could do about it. everyone thought we were all just being defiant and not wanting to move, but the truth is we were so ridiculously packed in there that when we tried to move it just made it worse and squished people even more! i agree that it was extremely poor organization on hot topic's part. you'd think that they would have done a little research and seen the craziness at Comic Con and the mob that happened in mexico, all for rob! What's worse was that Hot Topic's whole thing was that it was "first come, first serve" so they fully encouraged the running to the doors/line. it was all kinds of crazy and i just wish it could have all worked out cause me and my roommie drove all the way from santa barbara :(

  82. 82

I'm glad i went to school today instead of the mall.
Stonestown isn't even that big so that was pretty stupid.

  83. 83

Thats probably the worst planning job ever. Stonestown Mall is literally 2 blocks from SFSU… Every straight girl and gay guy who lives on campus probably went over there to check it out. its a five minute walk.

  84. 84

Ok so i was at the event…It was half way organized in the begining. People were going around having you sign a list and get a number, which worked. But then you got the people who showed up and thought they could go to the front of the line and wait and think that they were going to get in. Once that happened it was total chaos. There was no organization, and only one security guard for all us harmonal teens. I feel really bad for Robert and knowing that his fan get this crazy. I think they should reschedule a signing for him and this time have more order and organization. He is still a totall Hottie!!

  85. 85

Just got off the phone with someone who is back at the mall and apparently he will be there tonight signing posters….

  86. 86

AHHH!! i was there!!! right on the left by the tree!!!! haha! i was soo mad! i was there since 4 am!!!!!!! But i heard it was going to be rescheduled!!! I HOPE IT IS!!!!
when i got there, there was only 1 rent-a-cop and like 200-300 people, then someone called the cops…im soooo mad!!! And it IS becuz they wouldn't move, even when they said it would be cancelled, people were just banging on doors and stuff!

  87. 87

Re: llvee88 – You're kidding me! Now I'm even more upset!

  88. 88

im going to this hot topic event in philadelphia this weekend
if it is cancelled or i get trampled im gonna be pissed
i just want to see Rpatz

  89. 89

    Re: spotlessmind

nope, my sister has been down there all day. i guess after they told everyone it was cancelled, people started heading out, some stuck around for the store to open. she waited in line to buy the shirt anyway and was given a wristband to come back to the store at 6 for a signed poster, thats all the info they gave her. so she went back after class and now is being told that he will be there tonight to meet whoever got a wristband.

  90. 90

    Re: Listen To Mayday Parade
*Spoilers Ahead About The Book and Movie!!!*
lol! I know!! The fourth book was just disturbing and disappointing on so many levels. How Jacob imprinted on the baby? Can we say creepy?? Especially since he pledged his love to her MOM in the book before! And how the Volturi show up and then NOTHING happens. They just LEAVE! The whole book you are anticipating a big fight and Nothing happens. I was pissed.
Then the movie. Yeah. I've seen multiple scenes from it and not ONE thing happens in the book. In the movie, Edward can run up trees and fly. Yeah… never happens. And in the movie, Jacob hand delivers the truck to Bella. And then they talk about an "animal killing" that was vampires. And when Bella goes to meet the family, they are all cooking for her. Then her and Edward make out in her bed with just her wearing her underwear. NONE OF THAT HAPPENED!!!! The acting is Incredibly poor as well. How they speak the lines is so monotonous and boring. But these "Twilighters" are so caught up in the fact that there will be a movie that they aren't even looking at the acting and accuracy of it.

  91. 91

    Re: llvee88

Well if it's true he showed up at the end that's funny. The teenage girls need to control themselves. Robert looks timid and probably feels uncomfortable with the screaming girls. TEENAGE ROBERT FANS PLEASE ACT MORE MATURE!!! or else he will try not to appear in places anymore.

  92. 92

Robert Pattinson currently at the mall he was scheduled to be. Event was not canceled. Sorry Girls!!

  93. 93

Awh! And why the Stonestown Mall?

  94. 94

"Rob's stop in San Francisco was cancelled this morning. All because the people at the front of the line did not want to form a line." thats a lie. i was in the very middle toward the front, and it wasnt THAT bad. and we were trying to move back and form a line, but everyone behind us werent moving because they thought that they were going to get in if they moved. the cops and the management were the whole problem. almost the whole time, there was only one security guard and he wasnt doing anything, and then the cops came and they just made everything worse and then canceled it when it was getting better. the event didnt need to be canceled and all of the fans, including me, were devastated.

  95. 95

Seriously, that whole situation sucks. For both Rob and those people who got injured, and those who were actually paying mind to the security. Those rabid fangirls cant control their hormones, calm down. Thankfully there are still sane ones around.

  96. 96

    Re: Sandyd

Yup, event NOT cancelled. My sister just called again. He is currently at the store.

  97. 97

AHHH and i thought EYE was an overly obsessive rob fan X] he's too wanted. lol i wish i was there just to be there and see how absurdly huge the crowd was lol i luv u, rob!

  98. 98

:( that does suck, BUT I STILL LOVE rOB :) :):):)

  99. 99

I don't blame him for not showing up. He should do that more often, actually. Twifans are fucking INSANE

  100. 100

    Re: Eeyore
    He DID show up.
