Sadly, Regan was in office when AIDS first took hold - he (republican) deemed it a homosexual disease and did literally nothing re having blood donations tested, research, and most importantly, eductation to the nation at large ——- Because, he felt it was a problem of the gay community.

So, thank Ronald Regan for the fact that this disease killed more than a few people via blood transfusions, and was able to take hold in this country.
